Your Love Guard Me Through The Night…

Tonight I Pray that whenever you feel distant from Jesus, whisper HIS name. For it is when you do this you are putting all of your trust in Him and this will help you to restore your awareness of His Holy Presence.  In this fallen world that we live in so many people claim to not believe in Him but use His name in cursing every day. I pray that we bless the Lord at all times; that we allow His praise to be continually on our lips, so that our souls can boast in the Lord! I pray that as we fellowship with others we will magnify the Lord and exalt His name together!!!  I pray that the Holy Spirit will move within us all and teach us that there is no fear in His Love which shines on each one of us continually.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen…  I Love You All!!!  God Bless You!!!

The From's and To's

The evangelical Church today is in the awkward position of being wrong while it is right, and a little preposition makes the difference. One place where we are wrong while we are right is in the relative stress we lay upon the prepositions to and from when they follow the word saved. For a long generation we have been holding the letter of truth while at the same time we have been moving away from it in spirit because we have been preoccupied with what we are saved from rather than what we have been saved to. The right relative importance of the two concepts is set forth by Paul in his first epistle to the Thessalonians: "Ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; and to wait for his Son from heaven" (1 Thessalonians 1:9-10). The Christian is saved from his past sins. With these he simply has nothing more to do; they are among the things to be forgotten as the night is forgotten at the dawning of the day. He is also saved from the wrath to come. With this also he has nothing to do. It exists, but not for him. Sin and wrath have a cause-and-effect relationship, and because for the Christian sin is canceled wrath is canceled also. The from's of the Christian life concern negatives, and to be engrossed in them is to live in a state of negation. Yet that is where many earnest believers live most of the time.

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night…

I Pray Tonight that you take everything to God in prayer and realize that all of your mistakes can be recycled into something good through HIS transforming Grace!!!  Leave all of them right there with Him.  I pray that you trust in Him and do not be afraid.  Keep your eyes on Jesus and draw ever closer to Him.  I pray that as you grow closer to Him that you begin to see yourself from His perspective. For it is when we begin to look through His eyes we see that we are His beloved child.  He will take our errors and weave each one of them into an intricate work that is good. I pray that we realize that in Him we have redemption from sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that He lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.  I pray that you remember He is our song, our strength and that He wants us to live in conscious awareness of His Presence as we journey together towards heaven.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen. I Love You All!!!  God bless you!!! ♥♥♥

Not the Bait but the Bite
"No one here has more authority than I do. He has held back nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How could I do such a wicked thing? It would be a great sin against God."  —Genesis 39:9

Sometimes after we have had a little success, after we have come through the adversity, after we have climbed the social ladder, we are more vulnerable than we were before. There was a time we trusted in God because we had to. We trusted in God because if He didn't come through, we weren't eating that night. We trusted in God because if He didn't come through, the rent wouldn't get paid. If God didn't come through, we weren't going to make it through the week.

But now maybe we have a nice amount of money in savings and investments. Maybe we have done very well at work. Maybe we're not as dependent upon God. Maybe we've lowered our guard just a little bit. Know this: greater success leads to greater times of vulnerability.

We see this in the life of Joseph. He was a total success in Potiphar's house. And then came the temptation. Along came Potiphar's wife. It must have been very flattering for her to pay attention to him and talk to him about how attractive he was. He had, for a time, been saturated with Egyptian values, and those values that came from his parents might have seemed very worn-out and archaic. He could have rationalized it and said, "Well, if I give in to her, I will move to the top more quickly." But here is what Joseph knew: God was there, and God was watching. So Joseph refused her advances.

Joseph recognized that temptation isn't a sin; it is a call to battle. He wasn't made of stone. He was vulnerable in this area. Yet he resisted her.

You may think that if you're really spiritual, you won't be tempted. But it is not the bait that constitutes the temptation. It is the bite.

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night…

I Pray Tonight that you keep your focus on the Lord Jesus.  Some times in these last days it is harder and harder to endure the things of this world.  But you can rejoice in the Lord even though you are going through hard times because He is with you.  He will provide splashes of joy even in the midst of your hardest trials!!!   Cast all of your cares on Him for when you are at your weakest you can rest in the comfort of HIS Presence knowing that nothing is too hard for Him  I pray that you no longer focus on your problems so that you can focus all of your attention on the Lord.  When worry tries to wedge its way into your thoughts, never forget that HE is our good Shepherd and He will care for you and you don’t have to fear anything!!!  I pray that you give every part of your life to the Lord for there is no safer place to be then in His will and way for your life!!!  In Jesus Name I Pray, Amen  and Amen…  I Love You All!!!  God Bless You!!!♥♥♥

Saints and Sinners
"And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we do to you, so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints."   —1 Thessalonians 3:13

The 12 men that Jesus called were a rough-cut crew. But these are men we call saints today. Over time, we have venerated them. Forever enshrined in stained glass, they are like superheroes from the Bible—no flaws, shortcomings, imperfections; they are the spiritual elite.

And how could they not be? These saints spent three concentrated years walking and talking with, and following Jesus. But what exactly is a saint?

A little girl was asked in her Sunday school class what a saint was. Thinking of those stained glass pictures, she said, "They are the people the light shines through."

Is that not what all of us are called to be? We are to "let our light so shine before men that they may see our good works . . ." So, what is a saint? A saint is a true believer.

That means that if you have placed your trust in Jesus Christ, you are a saint—and so am I! "Saint Greg." What do you think?

But who exactly were these saints? These apostles that Jesus called? These men who changed the world? The more we get to know these men, the more human we see they are. Sometimes we think of them as one-dimensional characters, perched on pedestals. But any honest look at their stories in the pages of Scripture would reveal otherwise.

They weren't scholars. They weren't religious sages. The fact of the matter is, they were quite ordinary. They were hopelessly human, remarkably unremarkable. But they were available and obedient to the Master's call.

This is just one of the reasons that I know that the Bible is the Word of God! It is a completely honest book. It gives us our heroes "warts and all," and I for one appreciate that. That does not discourage me, but quite the opposite. It gives me hope as a flawed person. Despite our flaws, God can use you and me. I hope that encourages you today.
I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night….

Tonight I Pray that you realize that the Lord wants you to experience the riches of your salvation. Experience the joy of being a new creation in Christ Jesus, the old things have passed away and behold, all things have become new!  You are loved perfectly and constantly.  I pray that you stop judging yourself based on how you look or feel on a certain day.  Stop trying to fix yourself, instead fix your eyes upon Jesus, He is the lover of your soul.  Instead of judging yourself, use that energy to praise the Lord.  Come to Him with an attitude of thanksgiving.  I pray that you concentrate on staying close to Him at all times.  For when your focus is fixed on Him your walk will be an authentic one.  Refresh yourself in His Presence, trust in Him each moment of your day knowing that He is with you, watching over you wherever you go. He will never leave you or forsake you.  Stand on that faith!!!  In Jesus name I Pray, Amen and Amen….  I Love You All!!!  God Bless You!!! ♥ ♥♥

Word for the Day... August 28, 2015...

Light of Life

The Bible is a life-bringing and a life-giving book. It is not primarily concerned with any department of human thought for its own sake. If the Bible speaks about the rainbow, it is that we may be reminded of God’s covenant of mercy with mankind. If it tells the story of Abraham, it does so that we may learn to know the place of faith in our relation to God. If it points us to the moon and the stars, it is that we may know now frail we are. If it talks about the birds, it is to teach us to trust our Heavenly Father without fear or doubting. It tells us about hell not to satisfy our morbid curiosity, but that we may steer our feet far from its terrors. It tells us about heaven that we may be prepared to enter there. It writes the history of human disgrace that we may learn the value of divine grace. It warns in order that it may turn our feet away from the paths that go down to the path of destruction. It rebukes in order that we may see our own faults and be delivered from them.  I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night….

I Pray Tonight that you come to the Lord with a thankful heart, realizing that when you do He will help you through every difficult time and your problems will fade and lose their power to trip you up. For it is when we let go and give everything to Him that we are set free from worry and despair. I pray that you trust in Him enough to let Him have complete control of your life as He chooses.  Don’t keep trying to make things happen according to your ways. I pray that you get a real hunger for His Word so that you can give every part of your mind, body spirit and soul over to Him so that the Holy Spirit can move mightily through you and allow you to walk in His Power and Glory!!   Refresh yourself in His Presence and rest in the light of His love.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen…  I Love You All!!!  God Bless You!!! ♥♥♥

ANSWERING GOD'S CALL
Man - The Dwelling Place of God - Choices Reveal - and Make - Character
INTO NINE WORDS, having altogether but eleven syllables, Luke packs a world of universal truth: "Being let go, they went to their own company" (Acts 4:23).

Every normal man has a "company," however small, where he feels at home and to which he will return when he is tired of being alone. The important thing about a man is not where he goes when he is compelled to go, but where he goes when he is free to go where he will. The apostles went to jail, and that is not too revealing because they went there against their will; but when they got out of jail and could go where they would they immediately went to the praying company. From this we learn a great deal about them. The choices of life, not the compulsions, reveal character.

A man is absent from church Sunday morning. Where is he? If he is in a hospital having his appendix removed his absence tells us nothing about him except that he is ill;but if he is out on the golf course, that tells us a lot. To go to the hospital is compulsory; to go to the golf course, voluntary. The man is free to choose and he chooses to play instead of to pray. His choice reveals what kind of man he is. Choices always do.

The difference between a slave society and a free one lies in the number of free acts possible in each as compared with acts of compulsion. No society is wholly slave, as none is wholly free, but in a free society the voluntary choices are at a maximum and the acts of compulsion relatively few. In the slave society the proportions are exactly reversed.

The true character of a people is revealed in the uses it makes of its freedoms. The slave peoples do what they are told because they are not free to do what they will. It is the free nation that reveals its character by its voluntary choices. The man who "bowed by the weight of centuries . . . leans upon his hoe and gazes on the ground" when the long day's work is over is glad to get home to supper and to bed; he has little time for anything else. But in those fortunate lands where modern machinery and labor unions have given men many free hours out of every day and at least two free days out of every week, they have time to do almost anything they will. They are free to destroy themselves by their choices, and many of them are doing just that.

There is always danger that a free nation may imperil its freedom by a series of small choices destructive of that freedom. The liberty the fathers won in blood the sons may toss away in prodigality and debilitating pleasures. Any nation which for an extended period puts pleasure before liberty is likely to lose the liberty it misused.

In the realm of religion right choices are critically important. If we Protestant Christians would retain our freedom we dare not abuse it, and it is always to abuse freedom when we choose the easy way rather than the harder but better way. The casual indifference with which millions of Protestants view their God-blessed religious liberty is ominous. Being let go they go on weekends to the lakes and mountains and beaches to play shuffleboard, fish and sun bathe. They go where their heart is and come back to the praying company only when the bad weather drives them in. Let this continue long enough and evangelical Protestantism will be ripe for a take-over by Rome.

The Christian gospel is a message of freedom through grace and we must stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free. But what shall we do with our freedom? The Apostle Paul grieved that some of the believers of his day took advantage of their freedom and indulged the flesh in the name of Christian liberty. They threw off discipline, scorned obedience and made gods of their own bellies. It is not difficult to decide which company such as these belonged to. They revealed it by the company they kept.

Our choices reveal what kind of persons we are, but there is another side to the coin. We may by our choices also determine what kind of persons we will become. We humans are not only in a state of being, we are in a state of becoming; we are on a slow spiral moving gradually up or down. Here we move not singly but in companies, and we are drawn to these companies by the attraction of similarity.

I think it might be well for us to check our spiritual condition occasionally by the simple test of compatibility. When we are free to go, where do we go? In what company do we feel most at home? Where do our thoughts turn when they are free to turn where they will? When the pressure of work or business or school has temporarily lifted and we are able to think of what we will instead of what we must, what do we think of then?

The answer to these questions may tell us more about ourselves than we can comfortably accept. But we had better face up to things. We haven't too much time at the most.

Tonight I Pray that as His children we can enjoy resting IN HIM and glorify Him in the midst of adverse circumstances.  For it is when we stand on our faith and trust in HIM that His light shines brightest through us even in the darkest night. I pray that we all remember just WHO lives within each one of us.  That our Father left us a HELPER who is the Holy Spirit and through the intimacy of our relationship with Him we are transformed from the inside out!!!  When we yield to Him and allow Him to set the pace in our life, we can enjoy the tempo of a God breathed life. I pray that we all hold tightly to His hand as a little child and He will open the way and light our path even unto the radiance of His glorious Presence!!!  In Jesus name I Pray, Amen and Amen…  I love you all!!!  God bless you!!!♥♥♥

Word of the Day... August 26, 2015...

WHY SETTLE DOWN?

Why should a Christian "settle down" as soon as he has come to know the Lord? I blame faulty exposition of the New Testament for stopping many Christians dead in their tracks, causing them to shrug off any suggestion that there is still spiritual advance and progress beckoning them on. It is the position of some would-be teachers that everyone who comes into the kingdom of God by faith immediately obtains all there is of God's spiritual provision. I believe that such a teaching is as deadly as cyanide to the individual Christian life. It kills all hope of spiritual advance and causes many believers to adopt what I call "the creed of contentment."

I am sure you agree with me that there is always real joy in the heart of the person who has become a child of God. Sound teaching of the Word will then hold out the goal of moving forward, emulating the Apostle Paul's desire to become a special kind of Christian! I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night….

Tonight I Pray that you realize that you have to go through a storm to get to the other side where the Son is warm and bright!!! Never forget dear ones that He has promised us that he will never leave us or forsake us ever!!! Remember that night on the boat with His disciples as they crossed the sea and the storm came.  Jesus continued to sleep and never worried for a second.  If only the disciples had remembered what He had told them, “lets cross to the other side of the lake.” If they had remembered His words they would never have feared.  So I pray that as you are going through this storm do not fear even when the winds howl and the seas threaten to sink your boat.  Just call His name Jesus…. Wait listen He has never left your side!!!!  He is right there with you through everything!!!  I pray that you trust that He will make a way when there seem to be none.  Stand on that faith!!! Satan is a liar and has already been defeated!!!  Just hold on to His hand and enjoy the ride across the sea until you get to the other side and can stand again on His solid rock!!!  He shall fill you with JOY unspeakable and fill you to overflowing with His love and glory!!!  I pray that you never doubt it.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen…  I love you All!!!  God bless you!!! ♥♥♥

ANSWERING GOD'S CALL

When will men and women realize that when God calls us out He is completely faithful to call us into something better? In his faith, Abraham was against idolatry and idol-making, but that was not his crusade. Because of his faith, God led him into a promised land, into possessions and into the lineage that brought forth the Messiah. The call of God is always to something better-keep that in mind! God calls us into the joys and reality of eternal life. He calls us into purity of life and spirit, so that we may acceptably walk with Him. He calls us into a life of service and usefulness that brings glory to Himself as God. He calls us into the sweetest fellowship possible on this earth - the fellowship of the family of God! If God takes away from us the old, wrinkled, beat-up dollar bill we clutch so desperately, it is only because He wants to exchange it for the whole federal mint, the entire treasury! He is saying, "I have in store for you all the resources of heaven . Help yourself!"

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night….

I Pray TONIGHT that you forgive all those who have hurt or sinned against you and that you are healed from every wounded area. I pray that you don’t have the mentality of a victim, for when we walk in Christ we are victorious! I pray for a personal revival in your life - that the presence of God would consume and overtake you. That the Lord would be first in your life with preeminence and priority over all things concerning you! I pray that all impediments to your walk with Jesus be removed!!! That you realize that you are HIS beloved child and that He chose you before the foundation of the world to walk with Him.  That your hope and your future is rooted in HIM.  Walk in the light of His great love!!!  In Jesus name, I pray, Amen and Amen… I Love you all!!!  God bless you!!!

Your Best for God's Glory
The LORD was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.  —Genesis 39:2

When it looked as though life was over for Joseph, in many ways it was just beginning. His brothers had sold him to slave traders, and as it turned out, those slave traders sold him to a very important person named Potiphar, who was the captain of the guard in Egypt. Potiphar was basically the head of the military police and part of the royal body guard. It was sort of like being the head of the Secret Service of that day. Also, as the chief of the executioners, Potiphar was responsible for the execution of all criminals. He was not a man to mess with.

Potiphar became the owner of Joseph and put him to work, and the Bible tells us that the Lord was with Joseph (see Genesis 39:2). God blessed Joseph because of his hard work, faithfulness, honesty, and integrity, and success followed him like a shadow.

It was almost as though Joseph had a Midas touch. He kept his priorities straight, and whatever Joseph did, he did so well that Potiphar eventually put him in charge of everything. Even Potiphar, who was clearly a nonbeliever, recognized that the Lord was with Joseph.

Joseph's life serves as a reminder that Christians should be the hardest workers and do the best work. Colossians 3:23–24 tells us, "And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ." Whatever you do, do it as though you were doing it for Christ Himself—not for the paycheck, not for the boss, and not even for the promotion.

Here is what I believe: if you will do your best work for God's glory, He will bless you.  I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night….

Tonight I pray that each one of us fall in love with Jesus all over again!!! I pray that as we share His love and saving grace we remember that we are serving the Lord and not men and women. I pray that you remember everything our Savior did for us and take that Love out into a very dark world and light it up with HIS glory!!!!  Remember who your Father is and walk in HIS LIGHT!!! Give Him thanks and praise knowing that we can never praise Him too much and that our Lord will inhabit the praises of His people and the more we praise Him the closer and more intimate our walk with Him will become.  I pray we stand on the knowledge and have faith that He is with us and watches over us where ever we go.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen…  I Love You All!!!  God Bless You!!!! ♥♥♥

Men of Prayer

Prayer is not a work that can be allocated to one or another group in the church. It is everybody’s responsibility; it is everybody’s privilege. Prayer is the respiratory function of the church; without it we suffocate and die at last, like a living body deprived of the breath of life. Prayer knows no sex, for the soul has no sex, and it is the soul that must pray. Women can pray, and their prayers will be answered; but so can man, and so should men if they are to fill the place God has given them in the church.

Let us watch that we do not slide imperceptibly to a state where the women do the praying and the men run the churches. Men who do not pray have no right to direct church affairs. We believe in the leadership of men within the spiritual community of the saints, but that leadership should be won by spiritual worth.  I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night…..

Tonight I Pray that you realize that God is our refuge and our strength and ever present help in times of trouble.  I pray that you allow Him to enfold you in the radiance of HIS Glory!!! I pray that when you sit in the stillness of the night and listen for His voice, you will hear Him.  For it is when we make the time to visit with Jesus we get to know Him on a more intimate level and He will bless you for putting Him first in your life.  I pray that as you spend this quality time with Jesus you will begin to see Him transform you from the inside out.  Then He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. I pray that you hold tightly to Him in childlike faith and never waiver but stand firm in His Word and he will lead you into the light of His great love.  In Jesus name I Pray, Amen and Amen…. God Is Looking for a Few Good Men (And Women!)
"I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: 'Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?' Then I said, 'Here am I! Send me.'"  —Isaiah 6:8

If you were God, and you wanted to touch the world, how would you go about it?

You could raise up an army of mighty angels, who would gladly do your bidding. Or you could just roll back the heavens and speak audibly to Planet Earth and say something like, "Hello everyone. I'm God and you're not, and I want you to believe in me, now!"

But no, that is not how the Lord has decided to impact our planet. He chooses to use people—and flawed people at that.

When Jesus came to this earth, He chose 12 men: Peter, James, John, Matthew, Andrew, Thomas . . . we know their names well. But do we really know them? It's a good idea to learn what we can about them, because they turned their world upside down.

They didn't have modern technology to help them. No iPhones, iPads, Internet, texting, or e-mailing. They didn't even have fax machines (which once were very high-tech). No MP3s, DVDs, CDs, cassettes, or even 8-tracks. Not even the printed page.

No, Thomas did not tweet, Peter did not have a Facebook page, and Andrew did not Instagram.

It was all done by "word of mouth," person to person. Yet these hand-picked disciples, in a relatively short amount of time, shook the ancient world.

You know what? God is still looking for men and women to shake the world today.

Will you make yourself available?

I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night.....

Tonight I Pray you come to Jesus for everything.  Look to Him to find rest and refreshment from a journey that seems too exhausting for you to continue.  Don’t be afraid to go to the Lord and allow Him to take over and be in total control of your life.  He can get you through your day one step at a time. He can use everything for good even the things in your life that you wished were different. He will see you through each storm and walk with you through it.  It won’t be easy and your flesh will fight you all along the way. Don’t give up!!!  Place all of you hope in the Lord and you will find praise on your lips when He meets you in your time of need. Trust Him to lift you out of the mire and into the Peace of HIS Presence!!!  In Jesus name we pray, Amen and Amen…  I Love you all!!!  God bless you!!! ♥♥♥

Well Done!
"His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.' "  —Matthew 25:21

Jonathan Edwards is best known for his sermon "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" and his role in one of the great spiritual awakenings in the United States. He also was the third president of Princeton University.

But Edwards left an amazing legacy in other ways as well. He served the Lord to the best of his ability and made sure that his family was in church every Sunday. Of his descendants, 430 were ministers, 86 were university professors, 13 were university presidents, 75 authored books, seven were elected to Congress, and one became vice president of the United States.

If you're a parent, you will make choices that affect your children. Then your children will make choices that affect your grandchildren. This goes on and on, and the circle gets wider and wider. What you do will affect other people. The decisions you make will have an impact on others.

Some may say, "This is my life, and I make my choices." But it is bigger than that. Our choices on Earth are binding in eternity.

I want to be able to say to the Lord one day that I did the best I could with the life, time, and resources that He gave me. I want the Lord to say to me, "Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Lord."

Don't you want to hear that?

You might be thinking, I've already made a bunch of mistakes. I've messed up a lot.

It is not too late to change. Start making good decisions from now on. Do what you can to right the wrongs that you've committed over the years. And then, from this day forward, determine to walk with God and start living the way He wants you to live. I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Enduring Hardship

It is possible to be beaten until you are numb. You can smile and praise the Lord and say, "Jesus, I my cross have taken," for a while. But then you are slowly beaten until you are numb, and you get into a sort of a rut where you cannot fight back.

Timothy had been with Paul a long time, and Paul had been in so much trouble so much of the time. Timothy was tagging along behind in the same trouble, and Paul had noticed a little temptation to be ashamed of the cross. Essentially, Paul was saying, "Don"t be ashamed of the cross. Don"t shrink from the affliction of the gospel. God has not given us the spirit of fear." Then in Second Timothy 2:3 Paul said, "Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus."

It is as though he might have detected in the young man a little temptation to recoil a bit from the hard life he was called into. Paul knew that Timothy was basically a sound man. He knew Timothy had been reared in a Christian home. He mentioned Timothy"s grandmother, Lois, and his mother, Eunice. The grandmother and mother were both Christians, and good ones. Young Timothy had learned and become a Christian early in life. Paul knew that he was basically sound. But Paul was afraid that the pressure of things and the boredom of always being in the minority might put Timothy in danger of leveling off.  I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night.....

Tonight I Pray that you realize the Lord is with us in all that we do. He is always aware of what we are doing and cares about everything in our life, right down to the smallest detail.  I pray that you will learn to rest in Jesus and trust in Him for every part of your life. Take everything to Him in prayer and be still and wait upon Him.  The weaker you are the more gentle He will be with you.  Allow your weakness to be the door to His Presence.  I pray that you know He will be your ever present help, your strength and your refuge.  I pray that as you keep your eyes focused on Him you will be protected from falling into the deep waters of depression and self-pity. I pray that you get a real hunger for His Word so that you will grow closer to Him and never let go of His hand as He leads you through the obstacles that life presents.  Walk in the warmth of His light and love!!! In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen…  I love you all!!!  God bless you!!! ♥♥♥

The Holy are Humble

The Church in America suffered a greater loss than she has since discovered when she rejected the example of good men and chose for her pattern the celebrity of the hour. Human greatness cannot be determined by popularity polls nor by the number of lines any man rates in the public press.

It is altogether unlikely that we know who our greatest men are. One thing is sure, however--the greatest man alive today is the best man alive today. That is not open to debate. To discover the good great man (granted that it would be to our profit to do so) would require more than human wisdom.

For the holy man is also the humble man and the humble man will not advertise himself nor allow others to do it for him. Spiritual virtues run deep and silent. Like the tide or the pull of gravitation or the shining of the sun, they work without noise, but their gracious ministrations are felt around the whole earth.

The Christian who is zealous to promote the cause of Christ can begin by living in the power of the Spirit and so reproducing the life of Christ in the sight of men. In deep humility and without ostentation he can let his light shine. The world may pretend not to see, but it will see, nevertheless, and more than likely it will get into serious trouble with its conscience over what it sees.   I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

God's Loving Discipline
"For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child."  —Hebrews 12:6

Lot's point of reference was Egypt. Genesis 13:10 tells us, "Lot took a long look at the fertile plains of the Jordan Valley in the direction of Zoar. The whole area was well watered everywhere, like the garden of the Lord or the beautiful land of Egypt. (This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.)"

Instead of lifting his eyes up to Heaven, Lot lifted his eyes up to the plain of Jordan and saw a place called Sodom. The eyes will always see what the heart loves.

Next, Lot separated himself from godly influence. In Abraham's defense, he was supposed to separate from Lot. But Lot should have stayed close to Abraham. And a sure sign of spiritual decline is when we find ourselves wanting to get away from godly people.

Then Lot pitched his tent toward Sodom. He wasn't quite in Sodom, but he was very close. He could overhear the parties. He could kind of see what was going on. Call it research if you want, but Lot was just a few feet away from full participation.

If you have sensed that God is warning you to walk away from certain things you are doing, then rejoice. That means you're a child of His. Hebrews 12:6 says, "For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child."

The fact that the Lord brings about a conviction of sin in your heart, puts a roadblock in your path, or allows your secret sin to come into the open is a good thing. God loves you so much that He will try to stop you from going any further. So you have a choice. You can persist in your course. Or, you can listen to what God is saying to you.  I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Tonight I Pray you trust the Lord Jesus with all of your thoughts.  Don’t hold anything back from Him.  Confess everything sin to Him that is on your heart and leave them there with Him. We pray that you practice thinking in certain ways – Trusting Him and thanking Him.  Then those thoughts will become more natural.  We pray that you reject sinful or negative thoughts as soon as you become aware of them.    It is when you do this that your mind will be on the Lord all throughout your day.  This method of controlling your thoughts will keep your mind in HIS Presence and your feet on the path to peace.  Saturate your spirit, your soul, your minds and your body, With HIS Holy Presence, In Jesus name, I pray.   Amen and Amen…  I love you all!!!  God bless you!!!!! ♥♥♥

Leave It in God's Hands
Then Lot chose for himself all the plain of Jordan, and Lot journeyed east. And they separated from each other.  —Genesis 13:11

Sometimes people who have less are more materialistic than those who have a lot. I have met people who have a lot and are very generous. They don't let everyone know all the things they do for others; they just do them quietly. They are thankful for what God has blessed them with. They help others.

I also know others who don't have as much, but all they think about is getting more stuff. They dream about stuff. That is where their heart is. And it is all about the heart.

Abraham had a lot of stuff, but his heart was right with God. His nephew Lot had a lot of stuff too, but all he seemed to care about was getting more stuff. The Bible tells us "the land was not able to support them" (Genesis 13:6), and strife developed between the herdsmen who worked for Abraham and the herdsmen who worked for Lot. A separation needed to be made because Abraham and Lot were going in two different directions. It was a problem of the heart.

So Abraham gave his nephew a choice. He basically said, "You go wherever you want, and I will go in the opposite direction. I don't want to fight with you anymore. Let's make a decision."

By not making a choice, Abraham was in effect making a profound choice. He was choosing to give Lot the best choice. Abraham decided to leave the outcome to God. He left it up to the Lord. That is because Abraham was a peacemaker and not a troublemaker.

Maybe you have been tempted to compromise in a certain area, but you have decided to do what is right and to live a life of integrity. Leave it in the hands of God. You will never regret it.  I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night…..

Tonight I pray that when everything is going wrong in your life that you look to the Lord for growth opportunities in your life.  Especially look for areas in your life that you need to let go of and give to the Lord. Thank the Lord as you go through these times and count it all joy as you walk with Him through these trials.  Trust Him to orchestrate everything that happens in your life.  For it is when our faith is tested that it produces patience and if patience has its perfect work, you may be perfect and complete lacking in nothing.  I pray that you are looking for what the Lord is doing in your life. Hold tightly to His hands in these last days and worship Him by living close to Him and thanking Him in all circumstances.  In Jesus Name I Pray, Amen And Amen. I Love You All!!! God bless you!!! <3 o:p="">

The Power of the Tongue

Your tongue is one of the most important parts of your body. It's small, but you depend on it. Without your tongue, you wouldn't be able to speak or sing. I know for some that might be a plus, but for most it wouldn't be. Without your tongue, you wouldn't be able to taste or eat, because it's your tongue that directs the food in your mouth toward the throat, enabling you to swallow it.

But your tongue is also one of the most dangerous parts about you. James 3:5-6 says, "The tongue is a small thing, but what enormous damage it can do. A great forest can be set on fire by one tiny spark. And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is full of wickedness, and poisons every part of the body. And the tongue is set on fire by hell itself and can turn our whole lives into a blazing flame of destruction and disaster" (TLB). In Proverbs 18:21, Solomon went as far as to say, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue."

Whenever I said a bad word as a boy, my mom would take a bar of soap, bring me over to the sink, and shove that bar of soap in my mouth. She'd say, "I have to clean up your speech." I'm not going to forget that anytime soon!

It's estimated that the average person will open their mouth 700 times a day to speak. That's not how many words you speak, but you will open your mouth about 700 times. So we have 700 opportunities every day to get it right or to blow it badly. How can we make the most of these opportunities? In Colossians 4:6, Paul wrote, "Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt"—filled with truth, but also with love. Let me share with you three kinds of speech to practice.

First, there's real prayer. It only makes sense if you're going to open your mouth 700 times a day that some of those times be directed upward to God. Part of real prayer is praying honestly. Honest prayer is better than dishonest piety, and God is able to sift through the rubble of even the gnarliest prayer and pick out the gems. The other part of real prayer is praise—the highest use of the tongue. So instead of using sharp words, use sanctified words. When you feel the urge to take God's name in vain, make God's name of value instead.

The second is regular petition. If you have an issue, pray about it regularly. James said, "No man can tame the tongue" (3:8). That implies that God is the only one who can tame it. Now, if that's true, then you should be asking God to help you T.H.I.N.K. before you speak: Is what you want to say true? Helpful? Inspiring? Necessary? Kind? The basic truth is that a closed mouth gathers no feet.

The third form of helpful speech is righteous rebuke. Psalm 141:5 says, "Let the righteous strike me; it shall be a kindness. And let him rebuke me; it shall be as excellent oil; let not my head refuse it." This is the ability to express love through tactful criticism, to warn a person. Solomon wrote in Proverbs 27:6, "Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful." A true friend will hold you accountable right to your face.

Note this: all words originate from the heart. Jesus said, "Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks" (Matthew 12:34). So when my mom washed out my mouth with soap, it didn't cure the deeper problem. Words are like an outward gauge of what's going on inside of you. So what do your words say about you? Do you discourage and gossip and shock people, or do you encourage and add worship to God and inspire?  I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night…

Tonight I pray that you allow yourself to grow strong in the Light of HIS Presence!  The world around you is moving so quickly that sometimes you feel overwhelmed. He is the calm at the center of your life during the storm!!!  Your weakness does not make Him angry or want to give up on you.  On the contrary, it attracts His mighty power so that it can flow into your heart when you yield yourself to Him.  Never forget that when you are at your weakest He will saturate you with His power!!! Don’t go to the world for sustenance instead be still and know that He is God. Rest in Him… Yield up everything to Him, for it is when we are still and trusting in Him that He can become our Light, Salvation and Strength to bring us through the hardest times in our lives, so that we can be a blessing to others.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen…  I Love You All!!!  God bless you!!!

From Friction to Conversion
"Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword."
—Matthew 10:34

Some believers might be reluctant to tell their friends about Christ because they are afraid it will cause friction in, or even terminate, the relationship. But it just may be that very tension, that very friction, which produces conversion in the life of that individual. If you are always trying to be cool and get along with everyone, and if you never stand your ground or speak up for your faith, then you will reach no one.

Jesus said, "Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to 'set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law'; and 'a man's enemies will be those of his own household' " (Matthew 10:34–36).

"Wait," some might say. "That is in the Bible? I thought Jesus was loving."

Yes, He is. He loves us so much that He will confront us in our sin. Sometimes when one member of a family becomes a Christian, friction develops. There are problems. That person has changed the whole dynamic of the family. It was always about drinking and the dirty jokes. Then all of a sudden, there you are, not laughing at the jokes. There you are, Mr. I-Want-to-Pray-before-the-Meal. There are some family members who think it isn't a good thing that you became a Christian because it has created friction. What a party pooper, man. Oh brother!

But that friction is a result of the conviction of sin. A light just came into a dark place. Now, that little bit of friction can create conversation. And that conversation in the lives of some brings conversion.

Sometimes before there can be ultimate unity, there has to be a temporary division.   I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

The Dwelling Place of God - The Call of Christ
TO BE CALLED TO FOLLOW CHRIST is a high honor; higher indeed than any honor men can bestow upon each other.

Were all the nations of the earth to unite in one great federation and call a man to head that federation, that man would be honored above any other man that ever lived. Yet the humblest man who heeds the call to follow Christ has an honor far above such a man; for the nations of the earth can bestow only such honor as they possess, while the honor of Christ is supreme over all. God has given Him a name that is above every name.

This being true and being known to the heavenly intelligences, the methods we use to persuade men to follow Christ must seem to them extremely illogical if not downright wrong.

Evangelical Christians commonly offer Christ to mankind as a nostrum to cure their ills, a way out of their troubles, a quick and easy means to the achievement of personal ends. They use the right words, but their emphasis is awry. The message is so presented as to leave the hearer with the impression that he is being asked to give up much to gain more. And that is not good, however well intentioned it may be.

What we do is precisely what a good salesman does when he presents the excellence of his product as compared with that of his closest competitor. The customer chooses the better of the two, as who would not? But the weakness of the whole salesmanship technique is apparent: the idea of selfish gain is present in the whole transaction.

Jesus Christ is a Man come to save men. In Him the divine nature is married to our human nature, and wherever human nature exists there is the raw material out of which He makes followers and saints. Our Lord recognizes no classes, high or low, rich or poor, old or young, man or woman: all are human and all are alike to Him. His invitation is to all mankind.

In New Testament times persons from many and varied social levels heard His call and responded: Peter the fisherman; Levi the publican; Luke the physician; Paul the scholar; Mary the demon possessed; Lydia the businesswoman; Paulus the statesman. A few great and many common persons came. They all came and our Lord received them all in the same way and on the same terms.

From any and every profession or occupation men and women may come if they will. The simple rule is that if the occupation is good, continue in it if you so desire; if it is bad, abandon it at once and seek another. If the call includes detachment from all common pursuits to give full time to the work of the gospel, then no profession or occupation, no matter how good or how noble, must keep us from obeying the call.

The activities in which men engage may be divided into two categories: the morally bad and the morally neutral. The activities of the burglar, the gambler, the dictator, the procurer, the dope addict, the gangster and all who prey upon society are bad; nothing can make them better. The call of Christ is away from all such. This is not to be questioned or debated, but accepted without delay and acted upon at once.

But the majority of our human activities are not evil in themselves; they are neutral. The laborer, the statesman, the housewife, the doctor, the teacher, the engineer-such as these engage in activities that are neither good nor bad. Their moral qualities are imparted by the one who engages in them. So the call of Christ is not away from such things, for they may be sanctified by the prayer and faith of the individual, and thus turned into a positive good.

One thing is certain: the call of Christ is always a promotion. Were Christ to call a king from his throne to preach the gospel to some tribe of aborigines, that king would be elevated above anything he had known before. Any movement toward Christ is ascent, and any direction away from Him is down.

Yet though we recognize the honor bestowed upon us, there is no place for pride, for the follower of Christ must shoulder his cross and a cross is an object of shame and a symbol of rejection.

Before God and the angels it is a great honor to follow Christ, but before men it is not so. The Christ the world pretends now to honor was once rejected and crucified by that same world. The great saint is honored only after he is dead. Rarely is he known as a saint while he lives. The plaudits of the world come too late, when he can no longer hear them; and perhaps it is better that way. Not many are selfless enough to endure honor without injury to their souls.

In those early Galilean days Christ's followers heard His call, forsook the old life, attached themselves to Him, began to obey His teachings and joined themselves to His band of disciples. This total commitment was their confirmation of faith. Nothing less would do.

And it is not different today. He calls us to leave the old life and to begin the new. There must never be any vacuum, never any place of neutrality where the world cannot identify us. Peter warming himself at the world's fire and trying to seem unconcerned is an example of the kind of halfway discipleship too many are satisfied with. The martyr leaping up in the arena, demanding to be thrown to the lions along with his suffering brethren, is an example of the only kind of dedication that God approves. Worshiping God with All We Are

In worship several elements may be distinguished, among them love, admiration, wonder and adoration. Though they may not be experienced in that order, a little thought will reveal those elements as being present wherever true worship is found. Both the Old and the New Testament teach that the essence of true worship is the love of God.

Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.  Our Lord declared this to be the sum of the Law and the Prophets. Now, love is both a principle and an emotion; it is something both felt and willed. It is capable of almost infinite degrees.

Love in the human heart may begin so modestly as to be hardly perceptible and go on to become a raging torrent that sweeps its possessor before it in total helplessness. Something like this must have been the experience of the apostle Paul, for he felt it necessary to explain to his critics that his apparent madness was actually the love of God ravishing his willing heart. It is quite impossible to worship God without loving Him.

Scripture and reason agree to declare this. And God is never satisfied with anything less than all:
all thy heart . . .
all thy soul . . .
all thy might.

This may not at first be possible, but deeper experience with God will prepare us for it, and the inward operations of the Holy Spirit will enable us after a while to offer Him such a poured-out fullness of love.

I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!
