Why God Must Judge
"Say to them: 'As I live,' says the LORD God, 'I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?' "  —Ezekiel 33:11

God takes no pleasure in bringing judgment. In the New Testament we find Jesus grieving over the city of Jerusalem and weeping over her: "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not willing!" (Luke 13:34).

And in Ezekiel 33, God said, "I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live" (verse 11).

Then why does God send judgment? Answer: Because He is a just God. Abraham rightly said, "Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?" (Genesis 18:25). If people can flagrantly and continually break God's laws, committing murder and perverting anything and everything that is right and good, would it be right for God to turn away and ignore it? Do you expect God to simply turn a blind eye to all injustice? Or do you expect Him to do something?

"But it is not loving to bring judgment," someone might say.

Let's say that you were the parent of a toddler who was playing in your backyard. Suddenly a wolf comes along, and you see that wolf climb over the fence and sprint toward your toddler. What are you going to do? Are you going to run and give that wolf a big hug? No. The wolf has become your enemy because he is trying to hurt your child. Because you love that child, you hate anything that would harm the one you love.

God is saying, in effect, "I love you, and I hate this wickedness and this sin. I want you to turn away from it." God's heart aches over our rebellion.

Your Love Guard me Through The Night.....

TONIGHT I pray that you really begin to believe that Jesus loves you with an everlasting love.  Sometimes the human mind cannot comprehend the Lord Jesus’ constancy. You allow your emotions to flicker and falter in the face of varying circumstances, and you tend to project your fickle feelings unto Him. I pray you look beyond the flux of circumstances and discover HIM gazing lovingly back at you. This awareness of HIS Presence strengthens you, as you receive and respond to His Love. Never forget that He is the same yesterday today and forever! I pray that you allow HIS Love flow into you continually and you realize that your great need for HIM is as constant as the outflow of His Love is for you. In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen… I love you all… God bless you!!!!♥♥♥

The Church is Us

Our most pressing obligation today is to do all in our power to obtain a revival that will result in a reformed, revitalized, purified church. It is of far greater importance that we have better Christians than that we have more of them. Each generation of Christians is the seed of the next, and degenerate seed is sure to produce a degenerate harvest not a little better than but a little worse than the seed from which it sprang. Thus the direction will be down until vigorous, effective means are taken to improve the seed.

And how can we improve the church? Simply and only by improving ourselves: and there is where the difficulty lies. The church in any locality is what its individual members are, no better and no worse. We as members must begin by seeking moral amendment that will result in a positive spiritual renaissance. And that is why improvement is hard to achieve. As long as we can keep the whole thing at arm's length and deal with it academically we may preach and write about it at little or no real cost to ourselves and, it must be admitted, with no real advance in godliness.

Your Love Guard me Through The Night

Tonight I pray that you see yourselves  through the eyes of the Lord and not those of other people. Realize that it is nearly impossible to discern what others actually think of you. Moreover, their views of you are variable: subject to each viewer’s spiritual, emotional, and physical condition. The major problem with letting others define you is that it borders on idolatry. I pray that you realize that when you desire to please others it dampens your desire to please the Lord your creator. Tonight take that step in faith and see yourself through the eyes of the One who created you. His gaze upon you is steady and sure, untainted by sin. It is through His eyes you can see yourself as one who is deeply, eternally loved. Rest in His loving gaze, and you will receive His deep peace. I pray you respond to His loving Presence by worshiping Him Spirit and Truth. In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen… I love you all… God bless you!!!! ♥♥♥

The Secret Way
"A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person's strength."  —Proverbs 17:22

I have a little game I play with my granddaughters. When we are out and about, I ask them the question, "Do you want to go the regular way or do you want to go the secret way?"

Of course, they excitedly squeal, "The secret way, Papa, the secret way!" And that is the way we go.

Oh, by the way, there really is no "secret way" to speak of. If we are in a car, it's simply an alternate route. Or if we are going into a restaurant, I may take them in a side door instead of the front.

The idea is, let's have fun when and where we can.

Life is hard enough without making it harder. Sometimes we have rough days, and sometimes life is hard—very hard. Especially for a person who has lost a loved one and is in the depths of grief.

I speak to many of these people every day because I am a fellow griever, and we always seem to find each other.

I have found that a little humor can really help. One person said, "Laughter is a temporary vacation from grief."

I like that. Or we could just call it "the secret way."

The Bible says "A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person's strength" (Proverbs 17:22 NLT).

So try to laugh today. Or instead of going the regular way to where you need to go, try to go "the secret way." I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night….

Tonight I Pray that you allow God’s grace to cover you so that you can let go of anything that wants to stand between you and the Lord! I pray that any pull to your past that removes you from the perfect will of God in your life be completely destroyed!  I pray that you realize that there is a mighty battle going on for control of your mind and life.  I pray that you realize that the forces of evil exert a downward pull on your thoughts every daily.  You can see it with all the media, greed, lust and cynicism.   As these forces come against you I pray that you never forget who lives within you and that your greatest strength will come when you are communing with Jesus.  When you are concentrate on His Word and spend time in prayer, HIS Spirit will fill you with HIS Peace, life and the joy of the Lord!!!  I pray that you stand on this faith!!!   In Jesus name we pray, Amen and Amen… I love you all!!!   God bless you!!!♥♥♥

WE GET AROUND IT

The Lordship of Jesus is not quite forgotten among Christians, but it has been relegated to our hymn book, where all responsibility toward it may be comfortably discharged in a glow of pleasant religious emotion. The idea that the Man Christ Jesus has absolute and final authority over all its members in every detail of their lives is simply not accepted as true by the rank and file of evangelical Christians.

To avoid the necessity of either obeying or rejecting the plain instruction of our Lord in the New Testament, we take refuge in a liberal interpretation of them. We find ways to avoid the sharp point of obedience, comfort carnality and make the words of Christ of none effect.

And the essence of it all is that "Christ simply could not have meant what He said." Dare we admit that His teachings are accepted even theoretically only after they have been weakened by "interpretation"? Dare we confess that even in our public worship, the influence of the Lord is very small? We sing of Him and preach about Him, but He must not interfere!

Gasping for the Glory of God

True spirituality manifests itself in certain dominant desires. These are ever-present, deep-settled wants sufficiently powerful to motivate and control the life. For convenience let me number them, though I make no effort to decide the order of their importance.

 1. First is the desire to be holy rather than happy. The yearning after happiness found so widely among Christians professing a superior degree of sanctity is sufficient proof that such sanctity is not indeed present. The truly spiritual man knows that God will give abundance of joy after we have become able to receive it without injury to our souls, but he does not demand it at once. John Wesley said of the members of one of the earliest Methodist societies that he doubted that they had been made perfect in love because they came to church to enjoy religion instead of to learn how they could become holy.

2. A man may be considered spiritual when he wants to see the honor of God advanced through his life even if it means that he himself must suffer temporary dishonor or loss. Such a man prays ?
Hallowed be Thy name,? and silently adds, ?at any cost to me, Lord.? He lives for God?s honor by a kind of spiritual reflex. Every choice involving the glory of God is for him already made before it presents itself. He does not need to debate the matter with his own heart; there is nothing to debate. The glory of God is necessary to him; he gasps for it as a suffocating man gasps for air.

Frenemies
Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.  —James 4:4

When the Bible speaks of the world, and it does so frequently, it is speaking of a mentality, a culture, a system that is under the control of Satan. The Bible describes him as the god of this world who has blinded the minds of those who don't believe (see 2 Corinthians 4:4).

The best definition of the world that we find in the Bible is in 1 John 2:15–16: "Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world."

Every temptation that you and I will face falls under one of those three categories: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. This was true when Satan tested Jesus in the wilderness. The first temptation was to take stones and turn them into bread. That was the lust of the flesh. Then Satan basically said, "Why don't You jump off this pinnacle of the temple, and the angels will catch you?" That was the pride of life: Go ahead and do this great thing, and everyone will see how wonderful You are. Lastly, Satan said that he would give Jesus all the kingdoms of the world in exchange for His worship. That is the lust of the eyes.

Sometimes we become frenemies with the world. Frenemies are people who are at odds with each other but then become friends—but it is not a genuine friendship at all. And when you are a friend of the world, then in effect you have a frenemy.

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night….

Tonight I Pray that you realize that in this world you will face adversity.  We live in a fallen world so you need to take everything to the Lord in prayer.  I pray that even in the midst of the worst storms or roughest seas that you will whisper the name of Jesus and know that the Holy Spirit will bring you through any problem that comes your way.  That even in the middle of a storm HE will fill you with HIS JOY!!!  I pray that you realize that you are infused with the Holy Spirit and you need to allow HIM to move, for it is when we are weak that He will be strong and He will be our anchor in the storm, as we rest in the shadow of HIS almighty Presence. For it is when you return to Him and rest in HIM that you shall be saved.  Your quietness and trust shall be your strength! In Jesus name we pray, Amen and Amen…  I Love You All!!!  God Bless You!!!  ♥♥♥

A Christian's Three Enemies
Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.  —James 1:14–15

I don't know why people become perplexed as to why they fall into sin when they hang around places where they are vulnerable. Let's say that someone is struggling with drinking and then suddenly falls off the wagon, so to speak. So a friend asks, "Where were you?"

"Well, I was at a bar."

"Why would you go hang out in a bar when you have a problem with this?"

"Well, they have a nice big-screen TV. I really like to watch the game there, and they also have the best chicken wings ever."

People will put themselves in a place of vulnerability and then are shocked when they fall.

That is how it started for Eve when she ate from the only tree that God had forbidden. She was at the wrong place at the wrong time, listening to the wrong voice, which led her to do the wrong thing.

Eve had access to all of the Garden of Eden to discover and enjoy it. But where was she? She was hanging around in the one place God told her to stay away from. Genesis 3:6 tells us, "So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate" (NKJV).

As you look at that verse, it is a foundational statement about the origin of all temptation. As Christians, we basically have three enemies that we face on a daily basis: the world, the flesh, and the Devil. The world, with its allure, is the external foe. The flesh, with its evil desires, is the internal foe. The Devil, with his enticements, is the infernal foe.

He Is- In Charge
One day the angels came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came with them.  The Lord said to Satan, “Where have you come from?”
Satan answered the Lord, “From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it.”
Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.”
“Does Job fear God for nothing?” Satan replied. “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face.”
The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.”
Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.  Job 1:6–12

When the angels came to present themselves before the Lord, Satan appeared with them. His purpose was to question Job’s loyalty to God and ask if he could test Job’s faith. However, God proved he is truly in charge by limiting the trials Job would endure.

You may be in the middle of a test of faith and find yourself wondering, “Where’s God in this? Who’s in control?” Rest assured that he is in charge of the situation. Though it may seem that evil is dictating your current circumstances, every trial comes with God’s permission for the purpose of building your faith.  I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Beautiful Simplicity and Radiant Love

I am afraid of a new wave of religion that has come. It started in the United States, and it is spreading. It is a sort of esoteric affair of the soul or the mind, and there are strange phenomena that attend it. I am afraid of anything that does not require purity of heart on the part of individuals and righteousness of conduct in life. I also long in the tender mercies of Christ that among us there may be the following:

 1. A beautiful simplicity. I am wary of the artificialness and complexities of religion. I would like to see simplicity. Our Lord Jesus was one of the simplest men who ever lived. You could not involve Him in anything formal. He said what He had to say as beautifully and as naturally as a bird sings on the bough in the morning. That is what I would like to see restored to the churches. The opposite of that is artificiality and complexity.

2. A radiant Christian love. I want to see a restoration of a radiant Christian love so it will be impossible to find anyone who will speak unkindly or uncharitably about another or to another. This is carefully thought out and carefully prayed through. The devil would have a spasm. He would be so chagrined that he would sulk in his self-made hell for years.

There should be a group of Christians with radiant love in this last worn-out dying period of the Christian dispensation, a people so loving that you could not get them to speak unkindly and you could not get them to speak uncharitably.

I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

The Brilliance of His great love is glorious and healing as you bask in the light of His Great Love!!! I pray that as you grow closer to Jesus that you will begin to see your true self, the very one that He designed you to become!!! Every deep well and fountain in you that is blocked will be opened up and released by the power of the Holy Spirit! Marvel at the beauty as your life is intertwined with His Will and Way for your life!!!  For you can only truly find yourself by losing yourself in Him and one day when you reach your heavenly home, you will awaken in His Presence!!!  Your new imperishable eyes will finally be able to see the full light of His Glory!!!! What We Are and What We Can Be

Remember, we are compared with what we could be, not just what we should be. God being who He is, and Jesus Christ being His risen and all-powerful Son, anything we ought to be we can be. Anything that God has declared that we should be we can be. In the wonderful book of Romans, perhaps the greatest and most profound book in the Bible, 7 tells us of a man who is struggling and wanting to be something that he feels he cannot be.

Finally he gives up and says, "What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?" (verse 24). Immediately, Paul says, "Thanks be to God! . . . because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death" (25; 8:2). In Galatians 5:22-23 we read, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." That is what we ought to be and what we can be. Now compare that with what we are.   I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

It's Just Our Nature
For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.  —1 John 2:16

I read a news story awhile ago about a man who was hitchhiking across the county to write a memoir he planned to call The Kindness of America. He wanted to write about his adventures and the wonderful strangers who had reached out to him along the way. But while he was eating his lunch alongside U.S. Highway 2 in Montana, he was shot in the arm during a random drive-by attack. So much for the kindness of America.

It just goes to show that people are not basically good, as some would assert. If you believe that people are basically good, then you have more faith than I do. Because if history shows us nothing else, it shows us that people are basically bad.

Why is mankind the way it is? Why do we do the things we do? Why are we always fighting and warring and having conflict after conflict?

We read in 1 John 2:15–16, "Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world."

We like to blame the Devil for everything and say, "The Devil made me do it." Yes, the Devil can tempt you, but he needs cooperation. He needs to work with you, and you need to work with him.

The sinful things we do have nothing to do with logic; it's just our nature to do them. It comes from within. And the faster we recognize we have a sinful nature, the better equipped we'll be to fight temptation.  I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night…

TONIGHT I PRAY that You live your faith and that it becomes a verb instead of a noun in your life.  I pray that you can trust that you will never face anything alone… Absolutely Nothing!!!  When you begin to feel anxious know that you are focusing on the world instead of our Father.  I pray that you realize the only remedy to this is to keep your eyes upon Jesus. Verbalize your trust in Him, The Living One that sees you always. I pray that you trust Him to get you through not only this day, but all of the days to come.  Has He not commanded us to be strong and courageous?  Where do we find this strength and courage we find it IN the Lord Jesus Christ!!! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (JOSHUA 1:9.)  Stand on that faith and meet HIM in the Present.  Receive the gift that HE has for you, as your Lord and Savior!!!  When you are looking for HIM you will find Him. Bask in the light of His love and saving grace!!!   In Jesus name I Pray Amen and Amen…  I love you all!!! God bless you!!! ♥♥♥

Word of the Day... June 18, 2015...

"What Are You Doing Here?"
So it was, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. Suddenly a voice came to him, and said, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"  —1 Kings 19:13

It was a glorious day of victory for Israel and the Lord. Elijah had faced off with the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel, where God sent a stream of fire from Heaven and consumed Elijah's sacrifice. At God's command, Baal's prophets had been slain, and Jezebel, the wife of wicked King Ahab, wanted Elijah dead.

So inexplicably, the courageous Elijah, having just faced all those prophets, ran in terror and hid himself in a cave. Then the Bible tells us there was a mighty, rushing wind, followed by an earthquake and a big fire. After that, God asked Elijah a question: "What are you doing here, Elijah?" (1 Kings 19:13).

I wonder if the Lord would say that to some of us sometimes. Maybe it's when you're in a group of people and things are happening that you shouldn't be around. Maybe people are doing drugs or getting drunk. And the Lord says, "What are you doing here?" Or maybe you're in a movie and a scene comes on that is not the kind of scene you should be watching. Everyone is enjoying it, and you are feeling a little uncomfortable. The Lord whispers, "What are you doing here?"

When Judas came to betray Jesus, He said, "Friend, why have you come?" (Matthew 26:50). Did Jesus know why Judas came to the garden with a bunch of soldiers and the temple guard? Of course Jesus knew. However, Jesus wanted Judas to say he was there because he had been planning to betray Him, but he wanted to repent. But Judas didn't repent.

God knows everything that we have done, and He wants us to admit our sins, to confess them. Sometimes God will ask us a question designed to do that. So what question is God asking you today?  I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

TONIGHT I pray that even in the darkest storms you grow strong in the light of HIS Presence.  Know that your weakness does not repel Him.  On the contrary it attracts HIS power, which is always available to flow into a yielded heart.  For it is when you are weak that He is strong. I pray that you do not condemn yourself for your constant need of help.  Instead, come to Him in your neediness; Let the light of HIS love fill you to overflowing! A yielded heart does not whimper and whine when the going gets tough.  It does not rebel against the Lord.  Instead it steps out in faith and all courage and thanks the Lord even in the hardest of times.  For it is when you yield yourself to Him and His will that you give Him the ultimate act of trust.  It is in that quietness and trust you will find your strength. In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen…  I love you all!!!  God bless you!!!

EVERYDAY WORSHIP

It is my experience that the totality of our Christian lives-our entire attitude as persons-must be towards the worship of God! If you do not know the presence of God in your office, your factory, your home-then God is not in the church you attend, either! I became a Christian when I was a young man working in a tire factory in Akron, Ohio. I remember my work there-but I remember my worship there, too! I had plenty of worshipful tears in my eyes. No one ever asked me about them, but I would not have hesitated to explain them.

You can learn to use certain skills until they are automatic. I became so skillful that I could do my work and then I could worship God even while my hands were busy. If the love of God is in us and the Spirit of God is breathing praise within us, all the musical instruments in heaven are suddenly playing in full support! Even our thoughts become a sanctuary in which God can dwell.  I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Where Are You?
Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him, "Where are you?"
—Genesis 3:9

When I play hide-and-seek with my granddaughters, I will show them a new hiding place. Then, when it is my turn to find them, they will go to the place I just showed them.

That is what it's like when we try to hide from God. In the Garden of Eden, God called out to Adam, "Where are you?" But God knew exactly where Adam was. And He knew exactly what Adam had done. God wasn't asking Adam this question because He was clueless and looking for information.

By asking "Where are you?" God was saying, in effect, "Well, Adam, how is it going? How did that work out for you—the whole sin thing? Was I right on this, or was I wrong? How are you feeling about it? Is this good? Did I tell you the truth, or did the Devil lie to you?"

God wanted Adam and Eve to confess what they had done so He could set it right, because God cannot forgive a sin that has not been confessed.

The Bible says in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, [God] is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." What does it mean to confess our sin? The word confess used in this verse means "to agree with."

And what is God's opinion of sin? He hates it. What else does God think of sin? It offends Him. So we have to see sin that way, stop rationalizing it and justifying it, and start saying, "God, Your opinion of sin is right. I agree with You. I hate it. It was wrong for me to do. I am sorry for it." Until we come to this conclusion about our sin, it will separate us from God.

Spiritual Truth Is Spiritually Discerned

Surely God has that to say to the pure in heart which He cannot say to the man of sinful life. But what He has to say is not theological, it is spiritual; and right there lies the weight of my argument. Spiritual truths cannot be received in the ordinary way of nature. "The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned" (1 Corinthians 2:14).

So wrote the apostle Paul to the believers at Corinth. Our Lord referred to this kind of Spirit-enlightened knowledge many times. To Him it was the fruit of a divine illumination, not contrary to but altogether beyond mere intellectual light.

The fourth Gospel is full of this idea; indeed the idea is so important to the understanding of John's Gospel that anyone who denies it might as well give up trying to grasp our Lord's teachings as given by the apostle John. And the same idea is found in John's first epistle, making that epistle extremely difficult to understand but also making it one of the most beautiful and rewarding of all the epistles of the New Testament when its teachings are spiritually discerned.

The necessity for spiritual illumination before we can grasp spiritual truths is taught throughout the entire New Testament and is altogether in accord with the teachings of the Psalms, the Proverbs and the Prophets. The Old Testament Apocrypha agrees with the Scriptures here, and while the Apocryphal books are not to be received as divinely inspired, they are useful as showing how the best minds of ancient Israel thought about this matter of divine truth and how it is received into the human heart.  I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night…

Tonight I Pray that you become aware of your deep need for the Lord Jesus!!!  He is our strength.  People who think they don’t need Him are only fooling themselves, because they are relying on their own strength instead of that of the Lord!!!  I pray that you realize that when you rely on the things of this world you are setting yourself up to fail.  Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and allow Him to be your strength every day of your life…  I pray that you come to the realization that we are living in a fallen world and if we don’t keep our eyes on Jesus it can weigh us down.  If we give this all to Jesus He can lighten our load and even carry us when we can no longer walk.  I pray that you cast all your cares on Him so that He can lift you up to the High places where He dwells, so that you can bask in the light of his great love!!!  In Jesus name I Pray, Amen and Amen…  I Love You All!!!  God bless you!!!♥♥♥

UNITED WITH CHRIST

The Spirit of God has impelled me to preach and write much about the believer's conscious union with Christ-a union that must be felt and experienced. I will never be through talking about the union of the soul with the Savior, the conscious union of the believer's heart with Jesus.

Remember, I am not talking about a "theological union" only. I am speaking also of a conscious union, a union that is felt and experienced. I have never been ashamed to tell my congregations that I believe in feelings. I surely believe in what Jonathan Edwards termed "religious affections." That is man's perspective. I am aware also that from God's perspective there are qualities in the Divine Being that can only be known by the heart; never by the intellect!

Long ago John wrote: "Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us" (1 John 3:16). So it is best for us to confess that as humans we have difficulty in understanding what God has said when He says that He loves us!  I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night….

I PRAY TONIGHT that we come to the Lord Jesus with an attitude of love and Thanksgiving for all that He has done for us.  Give yourself fully to Him and walk boldly with Him through life.  I Pray that you trust Him enough along the way so that when you have to walk along the cliffs that you can hold tightly to His hand and He will pull you back to the safety of His Presence.  I pray that no matter what lie Satan tells you that you remember that NOTHING can separate you from HIS great love or His Presence!!!  Jesus is the same yesterday today and forever!!!  Walk in the light of His love.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen…  I love you all God bless you!!!!♥♥♥

Believing the Declaratives and Obeying the Imperatives

The last cause I shall name is nonobedience. Truth is given to be believed and obeyed. Certain truths can only be believed, the reason being that they are revelations of fact and contain no command or instruction to be carried out. Other truths must be obeyed or for the hearer they have no meaning.

"I will come back" (John 14:3) is a statement of fact which cannot in the nature of it be obeyed; there is nothing in it to obey; it can only be believed. "Go and make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19) is a command which can only be obeyed. It is addressed to the will, and the only proper response is obedience. We cannot possibly discharge our obligation to such a passage by trying in some dubious manner to "believe" it, though I am sure many try to do just that. Is it any wonder that confusion arises?

We will go far to simplify our religious concepts and unify our lives if we remember these four points: First, truth is a spiritual entity and can be grasped in its inner essence only as the Spirit of truth enlightens our hearts and teaches us in the deep, mysterious recesses of our souls. Secondly, since God is love we must surrender ourselves to love or we can never know the truth of God in its higher meaning. Thirdly, we must come to the Word with the simple faith of a child, ready to believe it whether we can understand it or not. And lastly, we must obey the truth as we see it, trusting God with the consequences.  .  I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night….

TONIGHT I PRAY that you put all of your trust in the Lord your God and refuse to worry.  For HE is your strength and your song when you are unsure and feeling wobbly.  When the storms roll into your life and you are feeling helpless and unsure, look to Him!!! Take shelter from the storm in HIM.  Wise is the one who understands the seasons. Storms don't last long. They quickly pass.  "Look, here comes Jesus walking on the water, calming the storm. The Lord says,   Be at peace." I pray that you stand on your faith in His Word, remembering that He is your strength and He can empower you to make it through any trial.  As you walk with the Lord in faith you have one foot in heaven and one on earth… Trust HIM to carry you through this storm.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen… I love you all!!!  God bless you!!! ♥♥♥

Truth that Seeks Lost People

Our Lord said, I am the Truth, and again He said, The Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. Truth therefore is not hard to find for the very reason that it is seeking us. Truth is not a thing for which we must search, but a Person to whom we must hearken. This is taught or taken for granted in the record of Gods dealings with men throughout the Sacred Scriptures. After the sin in Eden it was not Adam who cried O God, where art Thou? but God who cried Where art thou? as He sought for Adam among the trees of the Garden. Abraham heard God speak and responded, but it was God who was the aggressor. God appeared unto Jacob before Jacob came to appear before God. And in the burning bush God revealed Himself to Moses. Again and again did God take the initiative. He sought for Gideon and found him on the threshing floor of Ophrah.

He showed Himself to Isaiah when there is no evidence that Isaiah was seeking Him. Before Jeremiah was born God laid His hand upo n him, and He opened heaven to let the discouraged priest Ezekiel see a vision and hear a voice. Amos said he was not a prophet neither a prophets son, but the Lord took him as he followed the flock. Again God was the aggressor.

In the New Testament things are not otherwise. True, multitudes came to Christ for physical help, but only rarely did one seek Him out to learn the truth; and even that rare one usually turned away when the truth was told him. The whole picture in the Gospels is one of a seeking Savior, not one of seeking men. The truth was hunting for those who would receive it, and relatively few did. Many are called, but few are chosen.  I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

God at Work or Just Me?

To apply pressure, a person projects himself or herself into the minds and consciences of people made in the image of God and forces them psychologically to do something they have no particular reason for wanting to do. They are not basically interested in it and have no satisfactory reason for doing it, but they are under pressure. If they do not have a reason for doing what they are going to do, they will not know why they are invovled. Then when they get out they will not be sure that they were in, and so the whole process makes for weak, spineless religion. This violates the law of human nature, which dictates that all valid acts must arise from a natural urge or from a convinced mind. An example of a natural urge is when you are hungry.

You may be very hungry, but your hunger does not have a high intellectual content in it. Nobody needs to stand up and say, "Now, all you who are hungry raise your hands." You know you are hungry, and you just go out to eat. Hunger is a natural urge. Another legimate reason for an act is a convinced mind. I am convinced that I ought to do something, and I do it because I have a conviction that it ought to be done. Those are the only two reasons for doing anything. If I force people under psychological pressure and steamroll them into doing something because they are too weak to resist, I have violated their nature.

Our approach to getting people out of the rut, then, must not be to pressure them to do something they don't want to do. Instead, we must present the truth and let the Holy Spirit prompt them to want to escape.    I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night….

Tonight I Pray, that the Lord touch all who are suffering with His healing hand. I pray that as you grow in your walk with Jesus Christ that you learn to place all of our trust in Him alone.  Just say “I trust You Jesus as you go through difficult times.  This simple act will allow you to see the Lord in every situation, and when you acknowledge that, He has total control over everything.  When you view everything that happens in your life in this way, fear will begin to lose its grip on you.  As you lose your fear you will begin to grow in the light of His love and grace. I pray that you never forget to thank Him and praise Him for His love and peace!!  Stand on that faith and He will continue to strengthen you and keep you close to Him.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen…..  I Love You All!!!  God Bless you!!! ♥♥♥

Word of the Day... June 9, 2015...

Inside Out
“Does a young woman forget her jewelry, a bride her wedding ornaments? Yet my people have forgotten me, days without number.”  Jeremiah 2:32

Like many women each morning, perhaps you wake up, pour yourself a cup of caffeine, take a shower and then get ready to meet the world. You pick out an outfit (preferably one that makes you look five to ten pounds lighter), do your hair and put on makeup. Finally, you add jewelry, a belt and maybe a purse. Voilá! You’re ready to meet the day.

The care involved in our routines begs the question: How much time do we spend getting ready spiritually each morning? Do we take any time at all to ask God to guide us during our day? Do we read the Scriptures, meditate or pray so that we can be more patient, kind and loving with our spouse and children? Or do we worry more about getting out the door than about the condition of our hearts?

Caring for our outward appearance is not wrong . . . as long as we don’t neglect focusing on our inner thoughts and attitudes too. The prophet Jeremiah noted that women are unlikely to forget their accessories, but God’s people are prone to forget him. If we’re honest, we’ll admit that we are much like the Israelites. In the midst of our busy lives, God often gets pushed to the bottom of our to-do lists. But spiritual growth happens from the inside out.

Try this: Tomorrow as you shower, praise God for the cleansing that Jesus’ forgiveness provides. As you’re getting dressed, thank God for clothing you with Christ’s righteousness. When you put on your moisturizer, ask God to soften your heart to his leading throughout the day. As you apply your makeup, thank him for being the foundation of your life. When you put in your contacts, ask God to give you eyes to see his workings in the world. And as you put on your earrings, thank him for beautifying your life with the fruits of the Spirit.

Who knows? After talking to God throughout the morning, you might not even need caffeine!  I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night…

I pray that you allow the Lord to create something new in you:  a bubbling spring of joy that spills over into other’s lives. Do not mistake this joy for your own or try to take credit for it in anyway. Instead watch in delight as the Holy Spirit flows through you like a mighty Wind to bless others.  Allow yourself become a reservoir of the HOLY SPIRIT’S fruit. I pray that you live close to Jesus, so that you may be open to all that HE is doing within you. Don't try to control the streaming of the Holy Spirit through you. Just keep focusing on Him as He leads you through the day and enjoy His presence that permeates within you that you may live with love, joy, and HIS peace, in Jesus name I pray….  Amen and Amen… I love you all!! God bless you!♥♥♥
