Your Love Guard Me Through The Night…..

Tonight I Pray that you realize that God is our refuge and our strength and ever present help in times of trouble.  I pray that you allow Him to enfold you in the radiance of HIS Glory!!! I pray that when you sit in the stillness of the night and listen for His voice, you will hear Him.  For it is when we make the time to visit with Jesus we get to know Him on a more intimate level and He will bless you for putting Him first in your life.  I pray that as you spend this quality time with Jesus you will begin to see Him transform you from the inside out.  Then He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. I pray that you hold tightly to Him in childlike faith and never waiver but stand firm in His Word and he will lead you into the light of His great love.  In Jesus name I Pray, Amen and Amen…. I Love You All!!!   God bless you!!! ♥♥♥

Our Source of Strength
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
—Philippians 4:13

Sheep are timid, fearful creatures. Because of their very makeup, it's almost impossible for them to lie down unless they are free from all fear. An entire flock can go stampeding off into nowhere because a rabbit jumped out of a bush.

Yet how like sheep we are! We can be afraid of so many things: afraid of losing our health . . . afraid of losing our wealth . . . afraid of losing our loved ones. In fact, sometimes it seems we can be afraid of life itself.

Certainly there are a lot of frightening things out there in the world today. Violent crime is at epidemic levels. We wonder, Will I get on a plane and have it blown up by terrorists? Will I keep my job? Will I be robbed walking down the street? Will I contract a terminal disease?

Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd, will protect you and stands as your representative before the throne of God. Jesus Christ, who paid the price for your salvation, stands as your righteousness, giving you access into the presence of God. As the Scripture says, Jesus is the One "in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him" (Ephesians 3:12).

As believers, we can have boldness and authority, not because of who we are, but because of whose we are. Jesus is our strength. He is the one who gives us boldness. That's one more reason why we never want to stray from His side! Instead, we want to stay as close to Him as possible.  I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night.....

Tonight I Pray you come to Jesus for everything.  Look to Him to find rest and refreshment from a journey that seems too exhausting for you to continue.  Don’t be afraid to go to the Lord and allow Him to take over and be in total control of your life.  He can get you through your day one step at a time. He can use everything for good even the things in your life that you wished were different. He will see you through each storm and walk with you through it.  It won’t be easy and your flesh will fight you all along the way. Don’t give up!!!  Place all of you hope in the Lord and you will find praise on your lips when He meets you in your time of need. Trust Him to lift you out of the mire and into the Peace of HIS Presence!!!  In Jesus name we pray, Amen and Amen…  I Love you all!!!  God bless you!!!  ♥♥♥

Everlasting
You are from everlasting.   Psalm 93:2

Christ is everlasting. Of Him we may sing with David, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever."
1 Rejoice, believer, in Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and forever. Jesus always was. The Baby born in Bethlehem was united to the Word, which was in the beginning, by whom all things were made. The title by which Christ revealed Himself to John in Patmos was, "[Him] who is and who was and who is to come."

2 If He was not God from everlasting, we could not love Him so devoutly; we could not feel that He had any share in the eternal love that is the fountain of all covenant blessings. But since He was from all eternity with the Father, we trace the stream of divine love to Himself equally with His Father and the blessed Spirit.
As our Lord always was, so also He is forevermore. Jesus is not dead; "he always lives to make intercession for them."

3 Resort to Him in all your times of need, for He is always waiting to bless you. Furthermore, Jesus our Lord ever shall be. If God should spare your life to fulfill your full course of threescore years and ten, you will find that His cleansing fountain is still opened, and His precious blood has not lost its power; you will find that the Priest who filled the healing font with His own blood lives to purge you from all iniquity. When only your last battle remains to be fought, you will find that the hand of your conquering Captain has not grown feeble—the living Savior shall cheer the dying saint. When you enter heaven you shall find Him there bearing the dew of His youth; and through eternity the Lord Jesus will still remain the perennial spring of joy and life and glory to His people. You may draw living waters from this sacred well!

Jesus always was, He always is, He always shall be. He is eternal in all His attributes, in all His offices, in all His might and willingness to bless, comfort, guard, and crown His chosen people.

The Person God Uses
Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.  —Colossians 3:23

When I was eighteen and a new believer, I quickly came to understand where the phrase starving artist came from. All I knew how to do was draw cartoons, so I was doing that as well as some freelance graphics on the side. I was trying to make ends meet, but most of all, I longed to be used by God. So I would hang around Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa, waiting for an opportunity just to do something.

One day one of the pastors said to me, "Greg, I need you to do something for the church." I said, "What is it?" Preach the gospel to the ends of the earth? Pray for the sick? I'm ready. Here am I, send me!

"We need you to buy a doorknob."

"A doorknob?"

"Yes," he said. "We need you to go to Sears and buy a new doorknob for the church door."

It was a little job, but I was excited for the opportunity. I was on a mission from God to buy a doorknob. I went to Sears. There must have been three hundred kinds of doorknobs in every size, shape, and finish. I finally bought one and took it back to the church. I was so excited. (It turned out to be the wrong size . . . but I tried!)

Are you excited for any opportunity to serve the Lord, even if it's a little one? The issue really isn't big jobs or little jobs. It's that you are doing it for the Lord. Is that fact alone enough for you? Is it enough that God would want to guide you and use you? If so, then you're the kind of person He is looking for right now.  I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night.....

Tonight I Pray that you realize the Lord is with us in all that we do. He is always aware of what we are doing and cares about everything in our life, right down to the smallest detail.  I pray that you will learn to rest in Jesus and trust in Him for every part of your life. Take everything to Him in prayer and be still and wait upon Him.  The weaker you are the more gentle He will be with you.  Allow your weakness to be the door to His Presence.  I pray that you know He will be your ever present help, your strength and your refuge.  I pray that as you keep your eyes focused on Him you will be protected from falling into the deep waters of depression and self-pity. I pray that you get a real hunger for His Word so that you will grow closer to Him and never let go of His hand as He leads you through the obstacles that life presents.  Walk in the warmth of His light and love!!! In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen…  I love you all!!!  God bless you!!! ♥♥♥

Word of the Day... March 28, 2015...

God's Heroes
Few of you were wise in the world's eyes or powerful or wealthy when God called you. Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. —1 Corinthians 1:26–27

In many ways, we have lost the meaning of the word hero. We throw it around so casually. If you can put a ball through a hoop, you're a sports hero. If you can play eight chords on a guitar, you're a rock and roll hero. If you can pretend to be something you're not, you're a Hollywood hero. We have a strange concept as to who our heroes really are.

I remember watching a well-known journalist interview an actor about his recent movie, which featured a politically troubled region of the world. When the journalist asked the celebrity what he thought should be done about the political situation there, the actor responded, "Who cares what I think?" and went on to point out that he was just an actor. All too often, we mistakenly think actors really are the people they portray. We think they are heroes when, in fact, they're just people like you and me.

A hero is someone who does something sacrificial, something courageous. There are heroes today, of course. We saw many of them in action on 9/11 and in the days that followed. But often, today's heroes are operating behind the scenes, and we never know about them.

As we look at heroes of the faith, those in Scripture and in contemporary history whom God put His hand on, one thing stands out: it seems that God has always gone out of His way to find individuals who did not necessarily look like heroes. And that is precisely the point. God isn't looking for a strong man or woman per se. Rather, He's looking for someone who will walk in His strength.  I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

The Heavenly Rule
Laban said, "It is not so done in our country, to give the younger before the firstborn."   Genesis 29:26

We do not excuse Laban for his dishonesty, but we are wrong not to learn from the custom that he quoted as his excuse. There are some things that must be taken in order, and if we would win the second we must secure the first. The second may be the more lovely in our eyes, but the rule of the heavenly country must stand, and the elder must be married first. For instance, many men desire the beautiful and well-favored Rachel of joy and peace in believing, but they must first be married to the tender-eyed Leah of repentance. Everyone falls in love with happiness, and many would cheerfully work for fourteen years to enjoy it; but according to the rule of the Lord's kingdom, the Leah of real holiness must be loved in our soul before the Rachel of true happiness can be attained. Heaven stands not first but second, and only by persevering to the end can we win a portion in it. The cross must be carried before the crown can be worn. We must follow our Lord in His humiliation or we will never rest with Him in glory.

My soul, what do you say—are you so vain as to hope to be an exception to the heavenly rule? Do you hope for reward without work, or honor without endeavor? Dismiss the idle expectation, and be content with the despised things for the sake of the sweet love of Jesus, which will more than repay you. In such a spirit, working and suffering, you will find afflictions grow sweet and hard things easy. Like Jacob, your years of service will seem like only a few days on account of the love you have for Jesus; and when the dear hour of the wedding feast shall come, all your toils will be as though they never happened—an hour with Jesus will make up for years of pain and toil.

Jesus, to win Thyself so fair,
Thy cross I will with gladness bear:
Since so the rules of heaven ordain
The first I'll wed the next to gain

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night.....

Tonight I Pray you trust the Lord Jesus with all of your thoughts.  Don’t hold anything back from Him.  Confess everything sin to Him that is on your heart and leave them there with Him. We pray that you practice thinking in certain ways – Trusting Him and thanking Him.  Then those thoughts will become more natural.  We pray that you reject sinful or negative thoughts as soon as you become aware of them.    It is when you do this that your mind will be on the Lord all throughout your day.  This method of controlling your thoughts will keep your mind in HIS Presence and your feet on the path to peace.  Saturate your spirit, your soul, your minds and your body, With HIS Holy Presence, In Jesus name, I pray.   Amen and Amen…  I love you all!!!  God bless you!!!!! ♥♥♥

Seeds and Weeds
He who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.
—Matthew 13:22

When Jesus spoke of the seed that is sown among thorns, He was talking about ground that is embedded with weeds. There were over two thousand types of weeds in ancient Israel, weeds that would hinder the growth of a seed. The little seedlings would be in a constant battle with these life-sapping weeds.

The trouble with a weed is that it doesn't have an immediate effect; its impact on the plant is more gradual. This is in contrast to seed sown on rocky soil, which shoots up and then falls away. A seed sown among thorns is harder to identify. A person may say, "I am a Christian," and perhaps you see some changes in his or her life. It will seem like this person is solid.

A few weeks or months go by, and slowly but surely, something happens. As Jesus said, "The cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful" (Matthew 13:22). It doesn't happen overnight. This person doesn't abandon his or her faith instantaneously. It's something that takes place over a period of time.

Gradually, material things become more important to them than spiritual things. After a while, movies become more important than church. Parties become more important than prayer. Things on earth become more important than treasures in heaven. And slowly but surely, the weeds choke them out. These people were never truly converted; it just looked like they were. And after a little time has gone by, they just bail out.

So how can we tell who the true converts are? By time. Time will tell—time and the visible results in their lives called spiritual fruit.  I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night….

Tonight I Pray that you refresh yourself in the Presence of the Lord and that you are willing to follow where ever the Lord leads you.  I pray that you wait upon the Lord in great anticipation knowing that whatever He has for you it is enough.  Learn to hide in the secret of His Presence even as you go through your day.  I pray that you never forget He is with you.  He goes before you to open the way, and He will also walk beside you in everything that you do. Refresh yourself as you dwell with Him and allow Him to shape you.  I pray that you take the time daily to tell Him “Jesus I trust You.”  For it is when you do this that you will begin to see Him in every situation in your life.  He is large and in charge and He will never leave you or forsake you.  Seek His face and speak to Him and He will light up your mind!  In Jesus Name I Pray, Amen And Amen…  I Love You All!!!  God Bless You!!!! ♥♥♥

Thinking Right
by Charles R. Swindoll
This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God. Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.  But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.  For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror;  for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.  But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.  James 1:19-25
'
Wouldn't you love to live courageously in spite of the odds? Doesn't it sound exciting to be divinely powerful in day-to-day living? Aren't you anxious to become authentic in a day of copy-cat styles and horrendous peer pressure? Of course!

It all begins in the mind. Thinking right always precedes acting right. That is why I emphasize the importance of the renewed mind. It is really impossible to grasp the concept of serving others---or to carry it out with joy, without fear---until our minds are freed from the world's mold and transformed by the Lord's power.

Now some so-called religious leaders and gurus exploit others by calling them to "servanthood" in order to control them and use them for their own purposes. I feel the need to warn you against becoming a victim of some strong personality who wishes to "use" you. How easy it is to encourage servanthood so others might serve us. That is not the way our Master walked and neither should we.

Servanthood starts in the mind. With a simple prayer of three words:

"Change me, Lord."

Lord, make me a servant who asks of you and of others, what can I do for you?  I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night

TONIGHT I PRAY that you will not let anything or anyone come between you and the Lord.  I pray that each one of you will realize how fortunate we are to have a completed Bible to get us through these last days!  So many people are being deceived by false prophets preaching a gospel other than that of the Lord Jesus Christ!  I pray that all of you will test everything to the BIBLE.  It is a supernatural book unlike any other and if you pray the Lord will reveal the truth to you.  He will show you the right path to take.  I pray that as we stand on our faith in HIS WORD that we will be open to His Will and Way for our life!! Listen for HIS voice and you will hear it in your deepest being.  We are blessed and loved to be able to hear from Him so directly.  We must respond to Him with a heart of thanksgiving. Building our house on HIS firm rock, where life’s storms can never can never shake our faith or our walk in Him. That He will fill us with His strength, faith and knowledge to make it even until the end. In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen… I love you all!!!!  God bless you!!! Maranatha!!!♥♥♥

Press On
I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.    —Philippians 3:14

You remember how God fed the Israelites with manna. Every morning they would wake up, step out of their tents, and there would be the manna just waiting for them. But this "bread from heaven" had one limiting characteristic: it wouldn't keep overnight. God didn't want His people to live off yesterday's manna. The Lord wanted them to be dependent on Him on a regular basis and gather it fresh each day.

In the same way, you can't live off the experiences of last year or twenty years ago. God wants to do something fresh and new in your life today and tomorrow. No, you can't live off experiences, but you can learn from them.

Saul of Tarsus went out of his way to hunt down Christians. But he came to realize that he was not serving God but the Devil. Then he was transformed and went on to become the apostle Paul. He could say, "Now I press on, now I reach forward." I wish this would be true in the lives of more believers. What a difference it would make in this world around us if we had that kind of ambition, that kind of drive to serve God as we once served ourselves.

Let's recommit ourselves to the study of the Word of God, to prayer, and to winning at least one person to Christ in the next twelve months.

As Christians, we have unprecedented opportunities for our lives to make a difference in our world. There is so much to do. There is so much growth that needs to take place in our lives, and so much more to accomplish. It's time to step into the future, to step into what God is doing today.  I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night…

Tonight I pray for divine strategies to be given to you - that heaven would be downloaded and you would walk in discernment, wisdom and understanding!!  That every spirit of deception would be unveiled and revealed in the name of Jesus! I pray that you realize that He is with you like a safety net, protecting us and showing us that even through all of the ups and downs in this world we never have to face them alone.  That His Presence in our lives will limit what can happen to us. The Holy Spirit is The Helper. He can lift us out of even the darkest mire and back into the light of HIS great love!!! The Holy Spirit is given to us to confirm that we belong to God.  Stand on that faith and walk in His Word, Will and Way for your life.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen…  I Love you all… God bless you!!! ♥♥♥

Word of the Day... March 23, 2015...

Christ's Example
In these days he went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to God.  Luke 6:12

If ever a man might have lived without prayer, it was our spotless, perfect Lord, and yet no one ever prayed as much as He! His love for His Father was such that He loved to be in communion with Him. His love for His people was such that He desired to be regularly interceding for them.

The fact that Jesus placed such importance on prayer is a lesson for us—He has given us an example that we may follow in His steps. The time He chose was admirable—it was the hour of silence when the crowd would not disturb Him, the time of inaction when everyone else had stopped work, and the season when sleep made men forget their difficulties and stop applying to Him for relief. While others found rest in sleep, He refreshed Himself with prayer. The place was also well selected. He was alone where none would intrude, where none could observe: And so He was free from Pharisaic ostentation and vulgar interruption. Those dark and silent hills provided a suitable prayer chapel for the Son of God. Heaven and earth in midnight stillness heard the groans and sighs of the mysterious Being in whom both worlds were blended.

The continuance of His pleadings is remarkable: The passing hours were not too long; the cold wind did not chill His devotions; the grim darkness did not cloud His faith or loneliness prevent His persistence. We fail to watch with Him for one hour, but He never fails to watch for us night and day. The occasion for this prayer is notable; it was after His enemies had been enraged. Prayer was His refuge and solace; it was before He dispatched the twelve apostles. Prayer was the gate of His enterprise, the herald of His new work. Should we not learn from Jesus to resort to special prayer when we are under peculiar trial or considering new ventures for the Master's glory? Lord Jesus, teach us to pray.  I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night….

Tonight I pray that you realize that time alone with Jesus is essential for your well-being as a Christian. It is not something that should be considered an option it is a necessity for a strong walk IN Jesus Christ!!! I pray that you never feel guilty for taking the time out of your day to spend it visiting with Jesus.  Never forget that Satan is the great accuser of believers and he gets so much delight every time we fall.  He especially enjoys it when we are close to Jesus.  I pray that when you feel the arrows of Satan hitting you that you thank Jesus for it and ask the Holy Spirit within you to help you to protect you from him by helping you to put on the full armor of the Lord Jesus Christ!!! When you feel the warfare get into the Word and remember what it says: Resist the devil and he will flee from you….. Come closer to the Lord and He will come closer to you. I pray that you trust in HIM for all areas of your life for it is when we stay close to Jesus that we will walk on His path of Peace.  In Jesus name I Pray, Amen and Amen….  I Love You All!!!!  God Bless You!!!

Stop Seeking Happiness
Many people say, "Who will show us better times?" Let your face smile on us, Lord. You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine. In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.
—Psalm 4:6–8

Only humanity has a longing for meaning in life. I can assure you that my dog doesn't sit around pondering the reason for his existence. He won't be looking back on his life and saying, "You know, I tried it all as a dog. I chased cats. I drank toilet water. I tried bones. But deep inside of me, there was a void." Dogs don't think that way. They mainly think, Food . . . sleep.

Dogs, you see, aren't made in the image of God. But you and I have been created in His image. We are living souls, designed to know God and to live above this mundane existence that we call life. From the time of our birth, we have been on a quest, and the answer to all of our questions is found in a relationship with Him. God can give us pleasure that far surpasses the puny, fleeting pleasures this world offers. And the good news is there is no hangover in the morning. There is no guilt that accompanies it. As Psalm 16:11 says, "In Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore." There is pleasure in knowing God, not in chasing after happiness.

I have discovered that I never will find happiness by chasing it. But what we will find is that as we chase God, if we will, as we pursue God and walk with Him, then one day we will realize we became happy people. Happiness doesn't come through actively seeking it but by getting our lives into proper balance. Happiness and joy are the byproducts of that balance.
It's like the Lord Jesus said. If you seek God and His plan first, everything else in life—including happiness and peace—will fall into place.  I loved this devotional today and learned so much!!!  I hope you have a Simply Heavenly day!!!

You're on a Mission—from God!
by Skip Heitzig

There was a popular TV show in the '60s and '70s that later turned into three films: Mission: Impossible. It was about a group of secret agents who went up against crime around the world. The episode started the same just about every week: the agents would gather together and listen to their instructions: "Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is...." And they had the choice of whether or not to accept the mission. Well, you and I are on a mission—the Great Commission, given to us by Jesus Christ in Mark 16:15: "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature."

You've probably seen the bumper sticker that says, "I'd rather be fishing." Jesus would rather have you be fishing too—but fishing for souls (see Matthew 4:19). In Acts 1:8, He said, "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." From this section of Scripture, there are two things we should take away about our mission: it is global, and it is possible.

Our mission is global for four reasons. Number one: because of the character of God Himself. You can't read the Bible without discovering that God is a missionary God; He sends people. Jesus Christ Himself was a missionary: He left heaven and came to this earth "to seek and to save that which was lost" (Luke 19:10). Number two: because of the condition of the harvest, the world. "When [Jesus] saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, 'The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest'" (Matthew 9:36-38).

The third reason our mission is global is simply because Jesus said so: "Go into all the world and preach the gospel." And finally, number four: because of the coming judgment. Evangelism will one day no longer be possible because God will ultimately and finally judge the world. Acts 1:11 says, "This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven." When Jesus comes again, He'll come as a judge (see Revelation 19:11-16). No wonder He was so emotionally compassionate over the multitudes: He not only saw their present condition, but their ultimate condition—the consequence of not trusting in Him. That's why our mission is global.

But our mission is also possible. How? There are two requirements, the first of which is the filling of the Holy Spirit: "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me." This is a spiritual undertaking, and it requires spiritual equipping. You wouldn't expect a soldier to go out into battle unless you gave him the right equipment. In the same way, you don't ask a Christian to go into all the world unless that Christian is filled with the Holy Spirit. The second requirement is that followers become fishermen. Before the apostles were disciples, they were fish, in the spiritual sense. Jesus came, threw His net out, caught them, and said, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men" (Matthew 4:19). When the saved become the sent and are filled with the Holy Spirit, then our mission is possible.

And, once again, that mission, should you choose to accept it, is the Great Commission: "Go into all the world and preach the gospel." We all have a part to play, and we can all do something. Will you accept?  I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night….

TONIGHT I PRAY that you will not let anything or anyone come between you and the Lord and His Holy Word.

Don't Look Back
I don't mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.  —Philippians 3:12–14

The end of a year is a time of reflecting and remembering what God has done. But there comes a point where I say, "That was then; this is now." And I put the past behind me. Paul says he is forgetting the past, the things that are behind. The word forget doesn't mean to fail to remember. What it means is that Paul no longer will be influenced or affected by what happened before. To forget, then, means that we break the power of the past by living for the future.

Now that's wonderful when we think of sin. Because when we sin and then come to God and repent of it, and He forgives us, we can trust in God's promise: "For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more" (Jeremiah 31:34). God isn't suggesting that He will experience a lapse in His memory concerning your sins. What He's saying is that our sins no longer will affect our standing with Him or influence His attitude toward us. So if you have sinned, if you have failed this last year, you can put it behind you. You can forget the things that are behind.

Remember, to be His disciple, Jesus said we must take up the cross daily and follow Him (see Luke 9:23). Let's not be satisfied with what has happened in the past. Forget about it and move forward.  I loved this devotional today and learned so much!!!  I hope you have a Simply Heavenly day!!!

My Determined Purpose
Don't let the world around you squeeze you into its own mould, but let God re-mould your minds from within, so that you may prove in practice that the plan of God for you is good, meets all his demands and moves towards the goal of true maturity.  —Romans 12:2

With the world the way it is today, with things getting darker and darker and going from bad to worse, it seems to me the only way to live these days is as a completely sold-out Christian—not as a fence-sitter trying to blend in, but as someone who says, "I want to walk with God and live a real Christian life."

Paul said that his determined purpose in life was to know Christ (see Philippians 3:10-14). What is your determined purpose in life? When you get up in the morning, what do you live for? What are your goals? What are your priorities?

If you don't have a goal, you're in serious trouble because, as it has been said, if you aim at nothing, you're bound to hit it. Can you say with Paul, "My determined purpose in life is to know Him"? I hope so.

Think of the way that God used Paul. He had led countless people to faith, established churches out on the frontiers of his world, and wrote letters that we regard today as the very inspired Word of God. Yet Paul realized he had so much to learn and so far to go.

It's hard for us to think that someone like Paul would face the struggles and temptations we all face. But indeed he did. How much more should we be saying that we need to change radically in this coming year? We need to become more like Christ in this coming year—and don't let anyone pull the wool over your eyes . . . all of us have a long, long way to go.  I loved this devotional today and learned so much!!!  I hope you have a Simply Heavenly day!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night….

Tonight I Pray that you be still in the presence of Jesus!!!  Even though everything in the world seems to take all of your attention, nothing in this world is as important as spending time with Jesus!!! I pray that you let nothing take the focus of Jesus out of your life.  While you wait in His Presence, I pray HE will do his best work in you: transforming you by the renewing of your mind. I pray that you not skimp on this time with the Lord Jesus, or you may plunge headlong into the wrong activities missing the richness of what he has planned for you. Do not seek the Lord for what He can give you, remember that He is an infinitely greater than any gift He may impart to you…. When He is the ultimate desire of your heart, you are safe from the danger of idolatry. As you wait in His Presence enjoy the greatest gift of all: Christ in you, the hope of Glory! In Jesus name we pray, Amen and Amen!… I love you all… God bless you!!♥♥♥

Completing the Work in You
When my spirit grows faint within me, it is you who watch over my way. . . . I cry to you, Lord; I say, "You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living."
—Psalm 142:3,5

Are you afraid of an uncertain future right now? Are you discouraged, feeling like you have failed in various areas of your life? If you have invited Jesus to be your Savior and Lord, then He is with you. And He will complete the work He has begun in your life. The Bible says, "And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns" (Philippians 1:6 NLT).

There are many reasons I'm glad that I am not God, one of them being that I'm the kind of person who starts projects and forgets them. I will be cleaning my desk and almost have it finished when I say, "I'll do this a little bit later. I want to do something else right now."

Aren't you glad that God isn't that way? He would be working with me, suddenly lose interest, and say, "I'm just a little tired of Greg. I think I'll move on to someone else. I don't feel like finishing Greg right now. Maybe I'll come back later." How terrible that would be if He left me hanging.

But He won't. God will complete the work He has begun in our lives. He will complete the work of making us more and more like Jesus. It isn't over, even if you have failed, even if you've made a mistake. You can still learn from that mistake and, with God's supernatural help, get out of the situation you're in and move on. Even if you're in the hospital. Even if you're in prison. God knows where you are at this very moment, and He knows what you are experiencing. He is saying to you, "Be of good courage" because He is with you. He knows there is a brighter tomorrow for you.  I loved this devotional today and learned so much!!!  I hope you have a Simply Heavenly day!!!

Tonight I Pray that you put on the full armor of God as the world continues in its downward spiral. I pray His protection over every one of you as you go out into the world to share the love of Jesus Christ in these last days…. Never forget who you belong to as you are out there in the dark, a spark of Love to light up this dark, cold, and unforgiving world.  Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and allow yourself to fall into the security of HIS everlasting arms!!!  Never forget that He walks along beside you throughout your entire day.  From the time you open your eyes in the morning until you close them at night Jesus is with you!!! Hallelujah!!! Let His Presence brighten even the dullest day.  Open your eyes to the realization that He is the lover of your soul.  The One that gives you His Peace that passes all understanding.  The One that will be victorious!!!  In the meantime, “Be Joyful in Hope, Patient in affliction, and Faithful in prayer.”  He is with us even until the End.  Stand on this promise!!!  In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen..  I love you all!!!  God bless you!!! ♥♥♥

Leaving a Righteous Legacy
"By faith Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained the testimony that he was righteous, God testifying about his gifts, and through faith, though he is dead, he still speaks" (Heb 11:4).

The character of your life will determine the legacy you leave to others.

Bible scholar James Moffatt wrote, "Death is never the last word in the life of a . . . man. When a man leaves this world, be he righteous or unrighteous, he leaves something in the world. He may leave something that will grow and spread like a cancer or a poison, or he may leave something like the fragrance of perfume or a blossom of beauty that permeates the atmosphere with blessing."

That's illustrated in the lives of Adam and Eve's first sons: Cain and Abel. Cain was an unrighteous man who sought to please God by his own efforts. God rejected him (Gen. 4:5). Abel was a righteous man who worshiped God in true faith. God accepted Him (v. 4).

In a jealous rage, Cain murdered Abel, becoming the first human being to take the life of another. He forever stands as a testimony to the utter tragedy of attempting to please God apart from true faith. For "without faith," Hebrews 11:6 says, "it is impossible to please Him." Cain tried and failed—as have millions who have followed in his footsteps.

Abel, on the other hand, was the first man of faith. Prior to the Fall, Adam and Eve had no need of faith in the same way as their descendants. They lived in the paradise of Eden and had direct contact with God. Their children were the first to have need of faith in its fullest sense.

Cain's legacy is rebellion, heartache, and judgment. Abel's is righteousness, justice, and saving faith. His life proclaims the central message of redemption: righteousness is by faith alone.

What legacy will you leave to those who follow? I pray they will see in you a pattern of righteousness and faithfulness that inspires them to follow suit.  I loved this devotional today and learned so much!!!  I hope you have a Simply Heavenly day!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night….

TONIGHT I PRAY that you realize it is simply impossible to praise or thank God too much. The Bible He tells us that He inhabits the praises of His people. Sometimes your adoration is the spontaneous overflow of joy, in response to radiant beauty or rich blessings. At other times your praise is more disciplined and measured… an act of your will. I pray you realize just how much the Lord loves you and dwells equally in both types of praises. Thankfulness, also, is a royal road to draw Him nearer. A thankful heart has plenty of room for the Lord Jesus. When you thank Him for the many pleasures that he provides you with you affirm that HE is God, from whom all blessings flow. I pray that when adversity strikes and you are thankful anyway, your trust in His sovereignty is a showpiece in invisible realms. I pray that you fill out the spare moments of your life with praise and thanksgiving. This joyous discipline will help you live in the intimacy of His Presence. Walk in that joy and light!!!  In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen… I love you all!!  God bless you!!!!

Power of Blood
This is the blood of the covenant that God commanded for you.    Hebrews 9:20

There is a strange power in the very name of blood, and the sight of it is always moving. A kind heart cannot bear to see a sparrow bleed and, unless familiarized by use, turns away with horror at the slaughter of a beast. As to the blood of men, it is a consecrated thing: It is murder to shed it in anger; it is a dreadful crime to squander it in war. Is this solemnity occasioned by the fact that the blood is the life, and the shedding of it the token of death? We think so. When we rise to contemplate the blood of the Son of God, our awe is greater yet, and we shudder as we think of the guilt of sin and the terrible penalty that the Sin-bearer endured. Blood, always precious, is priceless when it streams from Immanuel's side.

The blood of Jesus seals the covenant of grace and makes it certain forever. Covenants of old were made by sacrifice, and the everlasting covenant was ratified in the same manner. What comfort that our salvation rests upon the sure foundation of divine commitments that cannot be dishonored! Salvation by the works of the law is a frail and broken vessel whose shipwreck is sure; but the covenant vessel fears no storms, for the blood ensures the whole. The blood of Jesus made His covenant valid. Wills are of no power unless the testators die.

In this light the soldier's spear is a blessed aid to faith, since it proved our Lord to be really dead. There can be no doubt about that matter, and we may boldly appropriate the legacies that He has left for His people. Happy are they who see their title to heavenly blessings assured to them by a dying Savior. But does this blood not speak to us? Does it not bid us sanctify ourselves unto Him by whom we have been redeemed? Does it not call us to newness of life and incite us to entire consecration to the Lord? O that the power of the blood might be known and felt in us tonight!  I hope that you enjoyed this devotional as much as I did.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!  God bless you!!!

Needing a Recharge
O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and glory. Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you!
—Psalm 63:1–3

When I travel, I take my laptop with me to work on my messages. But often I must work off the battery, so whenever I have the opportunity, I will plug in to the nearest electrical outlet. Why? Because my battery runs down and needs a recharge.

Sometimes that's the way it is for us as believers. We come to church and get plugged in spiritually. Then we try to run off that energy all week long. We don't realize we need the power of Christ at all times, in every situation, every conversation, every circumstance in which we find ourselves. In other words, we need a constant power source. We need to be plugged in all the time.

In Psalm 63, David was praying, "Lord, I want to walk with you all the time. Yes, I have seen your glory in the sanctuary, but I want that all week long."

I can't help but think of the prophet Elijah, who became physically, emotionally, and spiritually depleted in his warfare with the enemies of God. An angel of the Lord found him curled up under a bush in the desert, wanting to die. The angel provided him with some bread, let him rest, and then woke him up for another heavenly meal. The angel said, "Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for you" (1 Kings 19:7). We, too, become run down and spiritually depleted. And God has a wonderful meal waiting for us every day in the Word of God, served by the Holy Spirit Himself.

Elijah needed to plug in again, and so do we. We need to make time for God and His Word in our day. Sometimes that means just grabbing it where we can. Read some Scripture verses when you get up in the morning. Listen to some worship or a Bible study on your way to work or school. Take the moments where you can find them to plug in and stay tapped into all that God has for you. I loved this devotional today and learned so much!!!  I hope you have a Simply Heavenly day!!!

The Final War
by Charles R. Swindoll

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways! 34 For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who became His counselor? 35 Or who has first given to Him that it might be paid back to him again? 36 For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen. Romans 11:33

Purpose of This Letter

3 This is now, beloved, the second letter I am writing to you in which I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, 2 that you should remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by your apostles.

The Coming Day of the Lord

3 Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.” 5 For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water, 6 through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water. 7 But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

8 But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. 9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

A New Heaven and Earth

10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.

11 Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat! 13 But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.

14 Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless, 15 and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you, 16 as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. 17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness, 18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. 2 Peter 3

For the next few minutes, imagine this scene:
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up. Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for . . . the coming of the day of God, on account of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat! (2 Pet. 3:10-12)

Scary stuff, that business about the heavens passing away and the astronomical destruction and the twice-mentioned "intense heat" that will result in a total wipeout of Planet Earth. Makes me wonder how. Oh, I've heard the same things you have about superatomic warheads and World War III. But somehow that never explained how "the heavens will pass away" or how the surrounding atmosphere and stratosphere could be "destroyed by burning."

Since that would usher in "the day of God," I've always questioned whether He would use man-made, adult fireworks to announce His arrival. But in my reading recently I stumbled across a possible hint of how the Lord might be planning to pull off this final blast.

On March 9, 1979, nine satellites stationed at various points in the solar system simultaneously recorded a bizarre event deep in space. It was, in fact, the most powerful burst of energy ever recorded. Astronomers who studied the readings were in awe.

The burst of gamma radiation lasted for only one-tenth of a second . . . but in that instant it emitted as much energy as the sun does in 3000 years. If the gamma-ray burst had occurred in the Milky Way Galaxy, said one astrophysicist, it would have set our entire atmosphere aglow. If the sun had suddenly emitted the same amount of energy, our earth would have vaporized. Instantly.
As untrained and ignorant as we may be about the technical side of this, I suggest it might cast some light on the validity of Peter's remark. At least, in my estimation, it makes a lot more sense than atomic wars.

It's probably going to be more like star wars. The good news is this: I have no plans to be around at the premier showing.
How about you?

We may not understand all His ways, but we can know Him whose ways are "unfathomable”

Savoring the Moment
We know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands. We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long to put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing. — 2 Corinthians 5:1–2

When my son Jonathan turned eleven, I remember asking him, "What age are you really looking forward to?"

"Sixteen," he replied. "I want to be sixteen."

That's so typical. When you're young, sixteen is where it's at. Then you hit sixteen, and you say, "Eighteen—that's the age to be!" Then you hit eighteen, and you want to be twenty-one because you can do so much when you're twenty-one. Then you hit twenty-one, and you say, "No one takes me seriously yet. They think I'm still a kid. Wait until I hit my thirties. Those are the earning years." You hit your thirties and say, "If I could just be in my forties, then I will have arrived." Then you hit forty, and you say, "I wish I were a teenager again. I wish I could have that carefree life I used to have." That's when the so-called midlife crisis kicks in for a lot of people.

Next come the fifties and then the sixties . . . the golden years. You look back, and you have many memories and regrets.

One could almost look back on life and come to the same conclusion that Benjamin Disraeli, former Prime Minister of England, came to: "Youth is a blunder; Manhood a struggle; Old Age a regret." That's a pretty accurate assessment of life apart from Jesus Christ.

But when Jesus Christ is at the center of your life, you don't have to feel that way. You can live a life that is rich and full on this earth—in spite of old age or limitations or infirmities. And then . . . beyond the grave, the best is yet to come! Just around the corner from this life is an eternal life so wonderful that we can't even put words to it.

What am I looking forward to? I'm looking forward to each day that God lets me live here on earth. And beyond that, I'm looking forward to that moment in time when I cross over from this world to the next. I loved this devotional today and learned so much!!!  I hope you have a Simply Heavenly day!!!

So Great a Salvation
"Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it."   —Matthew 7:13

People believe in hell for other people, for those who do awful things. Maybe someone has gotten away with a horrible crime and hasn't been caught. So we say, "Well, they will get theirs." What we are really saying is there is a final judgment.

However, we don't like the prospect of facing judgment ourselves. Yet if a person ends up in hell, that is his or her own choice. This is not what God wants. Hell is a prison in which the doors are locked from the inside.

Heaven is not the default destination of every person. Jesus said, "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it" (Matthew 7:13–14).

We go to heaven because we make a choice to do so by putting our faith in Christ—and Christ alone. There is no other way to get to heaven. No one was uniquely qualified to meet God's righteous demands apart from Christ. No prophet, no guru, no religious system is going to do it. Jesus was fully God, and He was fully man. Thus He, and He alone, was able to stand in the gap for us and pay the price for our sins.

That is why the Bible asks, "How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him . . . ?" (Hebrews 2:3–4). If you blow off God's offer, that is your choice. But you are going to face the consequences.

This was a powerful Devotional from Pastor Greg Laurie today.  All I can add is that I am so happy that I have Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior!!!  I can’t imagine my life without Him as my Lord and Savior.  God bless you!!!
