Know-It-All
by Skip Heitzig

If you watched the old "Rocky and Bullwinkle" cartoon show, you probably recall a feature called "Mr. Know-It-All." Bullwinkle the Moose would give a short lecture on some "how-to" topic, and the information he gave was funny...and usually just plain wrong.

Well, we know somebody who really does know it all, our heavenly Father. God knows everything. His knowledge is immediate, instantaneous, comprehensive, and fully retentive. God knows what He knows without any kind of painstaking research; He never had to go to school, or take a test, or be informed about anything. He never says, "Huh?" or "Oh, really?" You can never tell God something he doesn't already know. He knows it all.

In Psalm 139 David takes theology off the top shelf and brings it down to a personal level. To David, this truth is not theological or philosophical, it's relational and personal. Notice the personal pronouns here: "Lord, you have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up. You understand my thought afar off..." He doesn't say, "Lord, you know all things and you've searched all things," he says, "You know me, you've searched me."

I'm bringing this up because what David does in this psalm, we must do with all truth. We must not be content to leave it on a page of a book or discuss it with our friends over coffee: "What is the meaning of life?" "Who is God?" We have to personalize this, not just be content to be armchair theologians.

Let's take it further. "You understand my thoughts" (v. 2) could be expressed, "God, you know what I think before I even think it." What that means to us is this: God knows what you really believe about him, not just what you say. He knows where you stand, what your real opinions are.

When David says "Search me, O God, and know my heart" (v. 23), it's a prayer. He's inviting God to know more (even though that's not possible). He's saying, "God, I can't wrap my mind around this. I'll blow a fuse trying to figure this out, so I just surrender to it. Search me, know me, lead me, direct me."

And that's where we ought to leave off in dealing with God's omniscience, and all His divine attributes. I like to put it this way: Since God's ability transcends my reality, it's best for me to bow at His immensity. God is always greater than our present knowledge of Him. You see, if God was small enough for your brain, He wouldn't be big enough for your needs.

God indeed "knows it all." By His very nature, without having to learn anything, He already knows everything, past, present and future. Faced with that, what else can we do but bow to Him in worship and adoration?

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night.....

TONIGHT I PRAY that you grow strong in your weakness!!!  Stand on your faith depending on Him to help you to make it through this day.  I pray that you get an insatiable hunger for HIS Word so that He can develop your ability to trust in HIM fully, rather than leaning on your own understanding.  So that we can stand firm in our faith in Jesus, relying on the Lord for everything in our lives. Never doubting that He will strengthen us as we need it.  I pray that each of you realize that this is how we grow strong in our weakness. WALK IN HIS AUTHORITY!!! In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen…  I love you all!!!  God bless you!!!

Crowded Out

The seeds that fell among the thorns represent those who hear the message, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the cares and riches and pleasures of this life. And so they never grow into maturity. —Luke 8:14

I have always been amazed by weeds. You can take a little flower, plant it in the perfect location, water it, and make sure there are no pests to threaten it. You can do everything possible for that flower, and it will slowly grow. But then, in the same amount of time, some weed springs up from a little crack in the sidewalk and that weed chokes out the flower.

But the weed doesn't suddenly burst out of the ground, grab the flower, and start shaking it. The process is gradual. First, there is a flower growing, and then the weed appears. The next day, the weed is a little closer. And on it goes until the weed starts to wrap itself around the flower and choke out its growth.

That is what Jesus was describing in the parable of the sower when He spoke about those who are "choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity" (Luke 8:14). This isn't something that happens overnight; it happens over a period of time.

I also find it interesting that it is the "cares, riches, and pleasures of life" that prevent the seed of God's Word from maturing and producing fruit. These aren't necessarily bad things in and of themselves. But these are good things that become the most important things and choke out the spiritual things.

This is not a picture of someone who says they don't want to pray, read the Bible, or go to church. Rather, this represents someone who thinks those are good things to do. But over time, they start losing interest, and the things of this world become more important to them than the things of the next world. And that is what chokes them out spiritually.

I think that Pastor Greg gives us all something to think about here.  We should give our spiritual lives a check-up and see just where we stand.  Do we care more about the things of this world or are our thoughts and lives centered around Jesus Christ. Time is short.  Don’t wait get right with the Lord today.  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard me Through The Night.....

TONIGHT I Pray that you realize what a mighty GOD we serve!!!   There is nothing too difficult for Him.  I pray that you realize He uses weak ones like us to accomplish His purposes.  That your weakness is designed to open you up to HIS powers!!!!   Walk in HIS glory and do not fear your limitations or the days demands against your strength.  For it is when we trust in Him with all of our heart, mind and spirit that He will see us through each challenging situation.  Our Lord is not a careless GOD.  When He allows difficulties to come into our lives He will equip us to fully handle them.  We are never closer to God then when trials come upon us. Relax in His Presence and trust in His strength to bring us through every storm. In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen…  I Love You All!!!  God bless you!!! ♥♥♥

Powered by His Spirit
Don't act thoughtlessly, but try to understand what the Lord wants you to do. Don't be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit.
—Ephesians 5:17–18

When we think of being filled with the Spirit, we often relate it to an emotional experience or a feeling of euphoria. But in reality, the word filled could be translated "controlled by." It is a word that speaks of what happens when the wind fills the sails of a boat and guides it along. So God is saying that we are to let His Spirit fill us and control our lives.

Another interesting thing about this word is that in the original language, it's in a tense that speaks of something that should be done continually. So you could translate this sentence, "Be constantly filled with the Spirit." This isn't a one-time event. Instead, it is something that takes place again and again, just as we repeatedly fill the gas tanks in our cars to keep them running. God wants to refill us with His Spirit. It is a great thing to say each day, "Lord, fill me with Your Spirit. . . . Lord, fill me once again." You may have an emotional experience, or you may not. But that has very little to do with the reality of being filled with and controlled by the Spirit.

One other thing about this phrase from Ephesians 5:18 is that it's a command, not a suggestion. The Scripture isn't saying, "If it works with your schedule, if you don't mind, would you please consider maybe letting the Holy Spirit fill and control you?" No, in Ephesians 5:18 God commands us — orders us — to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

He knows very well that an intimate relationship with Himself will bring us the greatest fulfillment and happiness in our lives that we could ever know.

This is a powerful word from Pastor Greg Laurie.  I really wanted to share this with all of you.  I know that in my daily walk with the Lord I really want to be controlled by the Holy Spirit!  When I start my day with Jesus I always ask that the Holy Spirit come in and upon me and  fill me to overflowing each day so that He will shine through me and allow me to share His great love all day.  I hope that you all have a Simply Heavenly day!!! God bless you!!!

When The Perfect Has Come
8 Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part; 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away. 1 Corinthians 13:8-10

The gifts will continue in use until “that which is perfect has come.”  There are some people who deny the use of some of the spiritual gifts for today who suggest that “the perfect” refers to the completion of the canon of Scriptures, and because of that some of the gifts have ceased with the first century church.  However, it is clear from the context that the perfect is referring to the coming of Jesus Christ.  It says that then we will see Him “face to face” In verse 12.

But also in Joel 2:28-32, as Joel predicted the coming pouring out of the gifts of the Spirit, he made it clear that they were for the last days, right before the day of the Lord.  We need all of the gifts until our perfect Lord returns for us.  Then they will no longer be necessary.  I hope that you all have a Simply Heavenly day.

Lord of All

Whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.
—Luke 14:33

This devotional from Pastor Greg Laurie was a really good one.  I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did.  It was George Bernard Shaw who said, "There are two sources of unhappiness in life. One is not getting what you want; the other is getting it."

This statement reminds me of the account in Matthew 19 of the rich young ruler who came to Jesus seeking answers. Here was a man who, of all men, should have been content and fulfilled. He had great influence and affluence. Yet in spite of all his accomplishments, there was something missing in his life. He asked, "Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?"

Jesus told him, "If you want to enter into life, keep the commandments." Jesus was not implying that by keeping the Ten Commandments, a person would be saved. Rather, Jesus held the Ten Commandments up as a mirror to show this man his sin.

The ruler replied, "All these things I have kept from my youth. What do I still lack?"
I think Jesus probably smiled at this. He saw what this man was really all about. So He took it up a notch and said, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me."

Jesus knew the problem with this young ruler was that possessions had possessed his soul. But Jesus just as easily could have said something completely different to someone else. What is really holding someone back from Christ and from further spiritual progress can vary from person to person.

We would do well to come before Jesus and ask, "Lord, is there anything in my life that is getting in the way of my relationship with You?"

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night.....

Tonight I Pray that each of us make Jesus the focal point in our lives for security, our hearts and our minds so that we can stay close to the Lord in these last days when there is so much in the world to infect us. I Pray that as we trust the Lord in this, He will bring us to the place in our lives where we can have a conscious dependence on Him for every part of our lives. So that we can live IN Him!   I pray that we truly realize just who our Lord is The Prince of Peace and no matter what this world throws out on us we can still rest in the Peace of our Lord!!!  I pray His blessings over each one of you as you rest in the light of His love and grow strong in His Presence knowing nothing can happen to us that He doesn’t allow.  I pray that as you read His Word that you grow strong in faith and stand on the Supernatural Promises that He gives us in His Word.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen…  I Love You All!!!  God bless you!!!!

Who Is Jesus Christ….

If there's one issue the world consistently gets wrong, it's the identity of Jesus Christ. Every year there's a news article at Easter or Christmas time or a special TV documentary on "the real, historical Jesus." But inevitably and invariably, they get it wrong.

It's nothing new. Even when He was here on the earth, they got it wrong. For example, in John 7, some said He was a good man, and others said He was a deceiver. In Matthew 16, the disciples told Jesus that some people thought He was John the Baptist resurrected from the dead, or the prophet Elijah, or Jeremiah, or another one of the prophets. In Luke 23, they called Him a tax evader and one who subverts the Roman government. In John 10, some people said He was demon-possessed. In Mark 3, even His own family said He was out of His mind. They all got it wrong.

In John 5, Jesus healed a man who had a disease for 38 years. But it happened to be the Sabbath day, and this was the response of the Jews: "Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God" (v. 18).

When Jesus called Himself the Son of God, He didn't mean it in the "pop psych" sense of the word, where God is everybody's Father and we're all children of God. He meant it in the very narrow, unique sense of one who has the very same nature as God Himself. Did you know that verse 18 is one of the strongest verses in all of the Bible that attests to the deity of Jesus Christ, and it's from the mouth of His own enemies? They knew exactly what He was saying. In John 10, they'll accuse Him of blasphemy for claiming to be God. I find this fascinating because groups like the Jehovah Witnesses, the Mormon Church, and Oneness Pentecostals will all deny that Jesus ever claimed to be God. That baffles me because even His own enemies knew that He claimed to be God.

Jesus never said anything remotely like this: "I'm really just another nice guy. That's all I am. I'm a model of religion. I'm here just to be a good example for people to follow." What did He say about Himself? Here's a sampling, just from the book of John: "Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst" (John 4:14). "I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever" (John 6:51). "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness." "I am from above... I am not of this world... If you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins." "Before Abraham was, I AM" (John 8:12, 23-24, 58). "I am the resurrection and the life... Whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die." (John 11:25-26). "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me... He who has seen Me has seen the Father" (John 14:6, 9). So tally all that up. Do you see any room in there for "I'm just another nice guy"? No!

Here's the bottom line, the inescapable reality. Jesus claimed to be the eternal God in a human body over and over and over again. That's the whole theme of the gospel of John. He did it all the time—unmistakably. So if anyone denies that Jesus claimed that, they are denying the historical accuracy of the gospel record and they are setting themselves up as a better, higher source of truth than the biblical record. In effect, they are saying they know much more about what happened 2,000 years ago than even the eyewitnesses themselves. So the onus is on them to prove that, and they'll have a difficult time.

Now here's the personal question: If He is who He said He is, is He supreme in your life? Everlasting life is as simple as believing, trusting, and relying on what Jesus said about God, and about Himself. There's only the two choices. Jesus said, "He who is not with Me is against Me" (Luke 11:23). There's no in between. Receive Him as your Savior, and make Him the Lord in your life.

Jesus is supreme in my life and He is God!!!  He is my Lord and Savior and I will worship Him forever!!! What a great word that was to start my Sunday off with Pastor Skip Heitzig.  He is an amazing man of God and teacher of the Word of God!  I hope that you liked this as much as I do!!!   Have a blessed and happy Sunday!!!

Word of the Day... January 25, 2014...

14 For the body is not one member, but many. 15 If the foot says, “Because I am not a hand, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason any the less a part of the body. 16 And if the ear says, “Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason any the less a part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But now God has placed the members, each one of them, in the body, just as He desired. 19 If they were all one member, where would the body be? 20 But now there are many members, but one body. 21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; or again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22 On the contrary, t is much truer that the members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary; 23 and those members of the body which we deem less honorable, on these we bestow more abundant honor, and our less presentable members become much more presentable,24 whereas our more presentable members have no need of it. But God has so composed the body, giving more abundant honor to that member which lacked, 1Cor. 12:14-24

It is so important for me to realize that I am a part of the body.  I may not be a very visible or noticeable part, but I am an important part of the body.  I am needed for the whole body to function properly.

There are parts of your body that you cannot see, but they are still vitally important. What would you do without your digestive system?  How about your heart or lungs?

We need to know that God made us and has a unique place for each of us in His body.  And we need to be satisfied where God has placed us, knowing that He put us here for His purposes.  Though we may not draw a lot of attention, our contributions are vitally important to the whole functioning of the body.

It reminds me of a tract that I got in when I first became a Christian.  It says “Bloom Where You Are Planted.”  And when I think about it today I learn that we need to be content where the Lord has placed us and not live in the past or the future. It is easy to live in the land of wishful thinking.  A life of “If only” or “what ifs.”  However, when we are living IN Christ Jesus for today, that is when we will find the true joy of the Lord.

When we can bloom where ever He places us that is when the whole body will grow and be fruitful!!!  So bloom where the Lord has placed you today and find His joy in every part of your walk.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!!

Your Love Guard me Through The Night.....

TONIGHT I pray that you really begin to believe that Jesus loves you with an everlasting love.  Sometimes the human mind cannot comprehend the Lord Jesus’ constancy. You allow your emotions to flicker and falter in the face of varying circumstances, and you tend to project your fickle feelings unto Him. I pray you look beyond the flux of circumstances and discover HIM gazing lovingly back at you. This awareness of HIS Presence strengthens you, as you receive and respond to His Love. Never forget that He is the same yesterday today and forever! I pray that you allow HIS Love flow into you continually and you realize that your great need for HIM is as constant as the outflow of His Love is for you. In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen… I love you all… God bless you!!!!♥♥♥

Word of the Day... January 24, 2014...

Softly I announce My Presence.  Shimmering hues of radiance tap gently on your consciousness, seeking entrance.  Though I have all Power in heaven and on earth, I am infinitely tender with you.  The weaker you are, the more I gently approach you.  Let your weakness be a door to My Presence.  Whenever you feel inadequate, remember that I am your ever- present Help.

Hope in Me, and you will be protected from depression and self- pity.  Hope is like a golden cord connecting you to heaven.  The more that you cling to this cord, the more I bear the weight of your burdens; thus you are lightened.   Heaviness is not My kingdom.  Cling to hope, and My rays of Light will reach you through the darkness…  ~Jesus Calling~

God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.  Psalm 46:1

Rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer, Romans 12:12

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.  Romans 15:13

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night....

Tonight I pray that you see yourselves only through the eyes of the Lord and not those of other people. Realize that it is nearly impossible to discern what others actually think of you. Moreover, their views of you are variable: subject to each viewer’s spiritual, emotional, and physical condition. The major problem with letting others define you is that it borders on idolatry. I pray that you realize that when you desire to please others it dampens your desire to please the Lord your creator. Tonight take that step in faith and see yourself through the eyes of the One who created you. His gaze upon you is steady and sure, untainted by sin. It is through His eyes you can see yourself as one who is deeply, eternally loved. Rest in His loving gaze, and you will receive His deep peace. I pray you respond to His loving Presence by worshiping Him Spirit and Truth. In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen… I love you all… God bless you!!!! ♥♥♥

Like Sheep
Greg Laurie

Once you were like sheep who wandered away. But now you have turned to your Shepherd, the Guardian of your souls.  —1 Peter 2:25

On more than one occasion, the Bible compares Christians to sheep. I don't know if I'm really happy about that because sheep aren't the most intelligent animals on earth. It would have been nice if God had compared us to dolphins. Now, there's an intelligent animal. I once had the opportunity to talk to a man who trained dolphins. I asked him, "Are dolphins really as intelligent as they seem?"

He said, "In some ways, yes, and in some ways, no. They are very intelligent in many ways because a dolphin can read a symbol and understand what it means." That is amazing to me.

But Jesus didn't compare us to dolphins. He compared us to sheep. And sheep are some of the stupidest animals around. They are vulnerable, easily spooked, can't run very fast, and lack any means of defending themselves. What's more, they are in constant need of care and attention. Sheep are known to follow each other even to their own death. It has been documented that if one sheep walks off a cliff, the others will follow.

The Bible says, "All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God's paths to follow our own" (Isaiah 53:6, NLT). Think about how many people have bought into the same lies, generation after generation. They fall into the same junk, the same addictions, and the same traps again and again.

We are like sheep. That is a fact. The question is, are you going to be a smart sheep or a dumb one? Smart sheep stay close to the Shepherd, and that is where we all need to be.

I paralyze the spirit of fear and doubt and release the gift of faith to function fully in you! TAKE POSSESSION OF YOUR PROMISES! In Jesus name we pray, Amen and Amen… I love you all!!!   God bless you!!!♥♥♥

Songs in the Night
Greg Laurie

The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night His song shall be with me -- a prayer to the God of my life.  —Psalm 42:8

Have you ever been awakened in the middle of the night and had a Christian song or a worship chorus going through your mind? If so, then that tells me you are laying up the things of God in your heart. Instead of waking up with the latest pop music in your head, you are thinking of a Christian song or maybe a Scripture verse. That is a song in the night God has given you.

When Paul and Silas were thrown into prison in Philippi, Acts 16 tells us that "at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them" (verse 25).

The word "listening" used here is significant. In the original language, it means to listen very, very carefully. Another way to translate it is "they listened with pleasure." There are some things that aren't a pleasure to listen to — they are painful, like fingernails on a chalkboard. But this was pleasurable, like when your favorite song comes on the radio and you turn it up. Oh, I love this song! This is a great song! That is how the prisoners were listening.

I doubt they had ever heard anyone sing in that dungeon before. And I think the simple fact that they were singing at all in such a place was a powerful testimony. It was a platform for evangelism. You see, you can talk about trusting God in adversity, but when someone sees it in action in your life, there is an undeniable authenticity. It is a powerful witness. Worship can be a powerful tool for a nonbeliever to be exposed to.

When you are in pain, the midnight hour is not the easiest time for a worship service. But God can give you songs in the night. And never doubt it: people will be listening.

Subtle Damage

He who goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets; therefore do not associate with one who flatters with his lips.  —Proverbs 20:19

Among the many ways we can use our words to hurt others, three of them are backbiting, gossip, and flattery.

The word used for backbite in Hebrew means "to play the spy." It's a picture of someone who collects clues and scraps of information regarding a person's character and then relates the information to anyone who will listen.

Gossip is more subtle because it can veil itself in "acceptable" language. People will say, "Have you heard?" or "I personally don't believe it's true, but I did hear that. . . ." Or, here is one of my personal favorites: "I wouldn't normally share this, but I know it won't go any further. Keep this to yourself."

Of course, we Christians like to wrap gossip in spiritual language: "I need to tell you this about so-and-so so you can pray for them." But how often do we really follow through and make it a matter of prayer?

A more subtle misuse of the tongue is in flattery. Flattery is just a fancy lie. It's when you say something that is really not true to win a person's favor, attention, or approval when you don't mean what you said about him or her at all. A good definition of gossip and flattery is this: Gossip is saying behind a person's back what you would never say to his or her face. Flattery is saying to a person's face what you would never say behind his or her back.

That is why James tells us, "If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body" (James 3:2). That is a mark of true spirituality.

This is a great devotional today from Pastor Greg Laurie!!!  What a timely reminder to all of us.  Oh Lord, keep a watch over our tongue and hold the key to our lips (Psalm 141:3)  Lets take time out on this beautiful morning and spend some time visiting with Jesus!!!  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!!

Word of the Day... January 20,2014....

It is impossible to praise or thank Me too much. As it is written, I inhabit the praises of My people. Sometimes your adoration is a spontaneous overflow of Joy, in response to radiant beauty or rich blessings. At other times your praise is more disciplined and measured—an act of your will. I dwell equally in both types of praise. Thankfulness, also, is a royal road to draw near Me. A thankful heart has plenty of room for Me.

When you thank Me for the many pleasures I provide, you affirm that I am God, from whom all blessings flow. When adversity strikes and you thank Me anyway, your trust in My sovereignty is a showpiece in invisible realms. Fill up the spare moments of your life with praise and thanksgiving. This joyous discipline will help you live in the intimacy of My Presence.  ~Jesus Calling~

But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.
—Psalm 22:3 kjv

Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord, O my soul. I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
—Psalm 146:1–2

Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
—1 Thessalonians 5:18

The Great Gulf
By Skip Heitzig

Last week, I talked about the holiness of God and how He calls us to be holy. The problem is that we are not holy…and holiness cannot coexist with unholiness unless something happens. And that “something” is that God purges the sin and declares us to be holy, by an act.

This is one of the themes found throughout the Bible. In the Old Testament, the tabernacle was a picture of the big gulf that exists between holy God and sinful man. This gulf makes Him unapproachable. But the tabernacle also teaches that the gulf can be bridged by sacrifice. People brought spotless animals which were sacrificed in their place, and atonement was made.

In the New Testament there is that same theme, in the cross of Christ. Jesus Christ, the perfect Lamb, lived the perfectly holy life that we could never live, and He died in our place. Then upon His death He was able to confer to us all of His holy merit. So we who were once spiritually bankrupt instantly became spiritual billionaires. We’re rich in God’s favor because of the act of Jesus on the cross.

1 Peter 1:19 tells us that we are redeemed “with the precious blood of Jesus Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” He was perfectly holy, and only one who is perfectly holy can perfectly cleanse someone who is perfectly unholy. That’s what the atonement was about. God’s solution to the problem was to make a declaration that the unholy person is now holy and cleansed—because of the act of Jesus Christ.

One of the reasons why many people come to church week by week and there’s no change in their lives is because they don’t see the great gulf that exists between unholy people and holy God. This is evidenced by prayers like this: “God, if I have sinned please forgive me.” “If”? How about “since”? Because if you’re not so sure about it, what do you have to confess? Why bother talking to Him about it unless you know that you need Him?

John said, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). You have to admit your guilt, your unholiness.

I’ve always enjoyed this story about Frederick the Great, the king of Prussia. He was visiting a prison in Berlin, and in cell block after cell block he heard the same story—the prisoners told him they shouldn’t be there, they were innocent, they had been falsely accused and falsely judged. Finally he came to a man who said nothing to him. Frederick said, “I suppose you’re going to tell me you’re innocent too.” But he said, “No, I am justly punished. I did wrong.” And so the king said, “Quickly, release this rascal before he corrupts all these fine, innocent people here!”

Listen, folks: That’s exactly what God does. Only those who say, “I need to be cleansed, I admit my unholiness,” they’re the only ones that God will declare holy. That’s why self-righteous people, “religious” people, often do not get saved…because they see no need! They think they’re good enough, holy enough. They have no conviction of their sin, and they don’t call upon God for cleanse them.

But thanks to our holy God, there is a solution to the problem of that great gulf between Him and us: “The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7).

When I read this devotional today I realized how right on Pastor Skip is and had to share it with you.  I believe that time is short. For all of you who are sitting on the fence don’t wait.  Come to Jesus right now while you can! If you want a new life in Christ Jesus, ask Him into your heart today.

Simply pray this:  Lord Jesus Christ, I believe that You took the pain and the sins of world on the cross to give me new life. I ask You to come into my heart and to give me Your peace and joy. I confess that I am a sinner that I have gone my own way and have done wrong. Please forgive me for my sins. I receive You now as my Lord and Savior. Please fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Help me to follow You and to serve You all the days of my life. Thank you so much for loving me, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.  If you prayed that prayer you are a new creature in Christ Jesus!  You are Born Again! God bless you!!!
