Word of the Day... April 10, 2014....

Anyone who continues to live in Him will not sin. But anyone who keeps on sinning does not know Him or understand who He is. 1 John 3:6

When I first read this verse I was kind of upset.  I was thinking to myself,  “ how am I going to be able to do this, when I am still in this flesh?”  Does this scripture mean that I have to live a perfect life in order to really know God?  If this is true then I am sunk!!!  But the word here for “sin” is in what is called in the Greek the linear present. What John is telling us here is that you can’t just continue to live an unrepentant lifestyle and still be considered a Christian.

It doesn’t mean that we aren’t going to sin at all.  It is that the pattern of our life changes when we truly are born again.  We become a new creature “IN” Christ Jesus.  We repent of our sin and we have a change of heart.  We don’t want to live the same old way.  We want to live to please the Lord because we have fallen in love with Him.

Does this mean we are never going to slip up and sin?  No, we all make mistakes but the difference is as we walk with the Holy Spirit daily we change.  Over time instead of just walking with Him we begin to walk “IN” Him.  This is where we begin to see great changes happen, when we begin to feed the Holy Spirit inside of us with the Word of God.  When we feed on the Word of God daily we will grow stronger as Christians. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side; it is greener where you water it.  I hope you all have a Simply Heavenly Day!!!  God bless you!!!
