Word of the Day... March 6, 2014....

It's Your Choice
As a result of this many of His disciples withdrew and were not walking with Him anymore.  So Jesus said to the twelve, “You do not want to go away also, do you?”  Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life.  We have believed and have come to know that You are the Holy One of God.”   John 6:66-69

Did you know that someday you and I will be individually responsible for each and every choice we have made? It's true, and we shouldn't be surprised to learn this, for we know that it is true regarding the decisions that we make on a daily basis. I have the choice today to do what the Lord would have me do, or I can choose to do what I want to do. This freedom of choice can get me into a lot of trouble or it can be the source of much joy. What I choose to do will generate an effect, and that matters to God. It will also eventually matter to me as well. What I choose today will determine many things in my future. Many people followed Jesus because it was cool to see miracles and to get a free meal. But once Jesus called for a commitment, choices had to be made. And from that time on, Jesus' fledgling church began to diminish in numbers. The people had to make a choice: "Will I follow Christ no matter what?" or "Will I give up Jesus to do what's easy for me?"

Have the decisions that you've made recently drawn you closer to God or pushed you further away from Him? Are you choosing today to do what is right versus what you "feel" should be done? Regardless of our choices, you and I will answer for them the day we stand before the Lord. I strongly suggest that you choose Christ in everything. Listen to Peter, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." By Peter's own confession, he was choosing to side with Jesus rather than with what was popular at the moment. Obviously, at that moment, Peter had made the right choice, but as time went on it became increasingly obvious that Peter had made the best choice. Today, Peter is in heaven, but where will your choices put you? Where you spend eternity is your choice. Spend it with the God who loves you. Choose Jesus and live forever!

I really love this devotional from Pastor Jack Hibbs.  I couldn't agree with him more.  Someday we will all stand before Jesus and I want to know that I made the right choices in my own life and walk with Jesus Christ.  One of my choices is to always pick the Book that HE wrote over anything that the world offers.  There are all kinds of books, movies, videos, studies and programs that provide methods of discerning and understanding who you are, why you are alive and what your purpose is here on earth.  Sadly, many of them stray from the simplicity of what is true.  The simple truth that is found only in what God says.  The great thing about our Lord is that He equips His Saints with everything they need in this life and it is called the Bible. I will choose the Bible so that I can stay in His Word, Will and Way for my life until He calls me home.  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!!  God bless you!!!
