Word of the Day... February 4, 2014....

We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.  2 Corinthians 4:7

When I read this scripture I can’t help but think what a glorious truth of the gospel!!! Eternal life is a priceless treasure!  And yet God chooses to place this treasure in earthen vessels, or pots made of clay.  He doesn’t put it in the finest gold treasure chest, but into us, and we are made from the dust of the earth.  That way we won’t draw people to ourselves, but to God.

You wouldn’t give someone a present where the package is more valuable than the present itself.  And wouldn’t you feel pretty strange if you gave someone a present and they kept going on and on about how beautiful the package was without ever opening the present?

God uses clay pots like us so that no one will glory in who we are, but they will glory in who He is.  It is foolish for us to exalt ourselves, He chose us because we aren’t exalted; and if we seek to exalt ourselves, then we become useless to Him.  I can tell you truly that  this is something I never want to be!  Have a Simply Heavenly day!!!  God bless you!!!
