Your Love Guard Me Through The Night....

TONIGHT I pray that you would stand in the truth of His Word with wisdom, knowledge and understanding!  He has given you the keys to the Kingdom that whatsoever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven and whatsoever you loose on earth would be loosed in heaven according to Matthew 16. Let your will be bound to the will of the Father that you will be constantly aware of His purpose for your life. I decree that you are bound to the truths of God that you will not be deceived by the many subtle deceptions of the enemy. You are bound to the blood of Jesus Christ for miracle working power to restore, heal, protect and preserve you in the name of Jesus! Amen and Amen…   I Love you all… God bless you!!! ♥♥♥

Word Of The Day.... October 31, 2013....

Try to see things more and more from My perspective. Let the Light of My Presence so fully fill your mind that you view the world through Me. When little things don’t go as you had hoped, look to Me lightheartedly and say, “Oh, well.” This simple discipline can protect you from being burdened with an accumulation of petty cares and frustrations.

If you practice this diligently, you will make a life-changing discovery: You realize that most of the things that worry you are not important. If you shrug them off immediately and return your focus to Me, you will walk through your days with lighter steps and a joyful heart. When serious problems come your way, you will have more reserves for dealing with them. You will not have squandered your energy on petty problems. You may even reach the point where you can agree with the apostle Paul that all your troubles are light and momentary, compared with the eternal glory being achieved by them.   ~Jesus Calling~

A man’s steps are directed by the Lord. How then can anyone understand his own way?  —Proverbs 20:24

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

—2 Corinthians 4:17–18

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night.....

Tonight I Pray that You put on the full armor of God as the world continues in its downward spiral. I pray His protection over every one of you as you go out into the world to share the love of Jesus Christ in these last days…. Never forget who you belong to as you are out there in the dark, a spark of Love to light up this dark, cold, and unforgiving world.  Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and allow yourself to fall into the security of HIS everlasting arms!!!  Never forget that He walks along beside you throughout your entire day.  From the time you open your eyes in the morning until you close them at night Jesus is with you!!! Hallelujah!!! Let His Presence brighten even the dullest day.  Open your eyes to the realization that He is the lover of your soul.  The One that gives you His Peace.  The One that will be victorious!!!  In the meantime, “Be Joyful in Hope, Patient in affliction, and Faithful in prayer.”  He is with us even until the End.  Stand on this promise!!!  In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen..  I love you all!!!  God bless you!!! ♥♥♥

Servants by Choice
"So likewise you, when you have done all those things which you are commanded, say, 'We are unprofitable servants. We have done what was our duty to do.' "  —Luke 17:10

The apostle Paul would often describe himself as a bondservant of the Lord Jesus Christ. This isn't the same as the horrific slavery of days gone by where people were forced to work for someone else. Being a bondservant of Christ means serving God.  It is something I want to do.

What is the goal of a servant? To please his master, to do what his master wants him to do.  As 1 Corinthians 6:20 reminds us, "For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's."

Let's not misunderstand. It isn't as though God has taken me against my will and made me His slave. No, it is more like being in a slave market in shackles. Jesus comes along, looks at me, and says, "I will take that one." Then He buys me.

So I say, "Okay, Master, where do you want me to go?"

"I want you to come over here because I am going to undo those shackles you're wearing."

"Wow. That feels a lot better."

Then Jesus says, "We're going down to the courthouse."

"Why?"

"I am going to adopt you now as my son. See, you are my slave, but you are my son."

"You know what?" I say. "I want to be your slave forever."

That is how it works. I am not a slave because I have to be; I am a slave because I want to be.

Yes, as Christians we are slaves. But we also are friends of God. The Potter who molded us is also our Father who adores us. Our Master who owns us is also our Friend who loves us. And so we are called to be His servants.

Yes I love being a slave, a friend and a daughter to Jesus!!!  Love this devotional today!!  I hope you have a blessed and happy day!!! God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night....

TONIGHT I PRAY that you realize it is simply impossible to praise or thank God too much. The Bible He tells us that He inhabits the praises of His people. Sometimes your adoration is the spontaneous overflow of joy, in response to radiant beauty or rich blessings. At other times your praise is more disciplined and measured… an act of your will. I pray you realize just how much the Lord loves you and dwells equally in both types of praises. Thankfulness, also, is a royal road to draw Him nearer. A thankful heart has plenty of room for the Lord Jesus. When you thank Him for the many pleasures that he provides you with you affirm that HE is God, from whom all blessings flow. I pray that when adversity strikes and you are thankful anyway, your trust in His sovereignty is a showpiece in invisible realms. I pray that you fill out the spare moments of your life with praise and thanksgiving. This joyous discipline will help you live in the intimacy of His Presence. Walk in that joy and light!!!  In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen… I love you all!!  God bless you!!!! ♥♥♥

Four Trustworthy Sayings
Truth For Life

Paul has four of these "trustworthy" sayings.
  • The first occurs in 1 Timothy 1:15, "The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners."
  • The next is in 1 Timothy 4:8-9, "Godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance."
  • The third is in 2 Timothy 2:11, "The saying is trustworthy, for: If we have died with him, we will also live with him."
  • And the fourth is in Titus 3:8, "The saying is trustworthy, and I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to do good works."
We may trace a connection between these faithful sayings. The first one lays the foundation of our eternal salvation in the free grace of God, as shown to us in the mission of the great Redeemer. The next affirms the double blessedness that we obtain through this salvation-the blessings of time and of eternity. The third shows the nature of the life to which the chosen people are called; we are ordained to die with Christ with the promise that "if we have died with him, we will also live with him." The last sets out the active form of Christian service, bidding us to diligently maintain good works.
So we have the root of salvation in free grace, then the privileges of that salvation in the life that now is and in that which is to come; and we have also the two great branches of dying with Christ and living with Christ, loaded with the fruit of the Spirit.
Treasure up these faithful sayings. Let them be the guides of your life, your comfort, and your instruction. The apostle of the Gentiles proved them to be trustworthy, and they are still trustworthy; not one word will fall to the ground. They are worthy of all acceptance; let us accept them now and prove their reliability.
Let these four trustworthy sayings be written on the four corners of my house. I hope that you have a Simply Heavenly day!!! :):)

Word of the Day... October 28, 2013...

There is a mighty battle going on for control of your mind. Heaven and earth intersect in your mind; the tugs of both spheres influence your thinking. I created you with the capacity to experience foretastes of heaven. When you shut out the world and focus on My Presence, you can enjoy sitting with Me in heavenly realms. This is an incredible privilege reserved for precious ones who belong to Me and seek My Face. Your greatest strength is your desire to spend time communing with Me. As you concentrate on Me, My Spirit fills your mind with Life and Peace.

The world exerts a downward pull on your thoughts. Media bombard you with greed, lust, and cynicism. When you face these things, pray for protection and discernment. Stay in continual communication with Me whenever you walk through the wastelands of this world. Refuse to worry, because this form of worldliness will weigh you down and block awareness of My Presence. Stay alert, recognizing the battle being waged against your mind. Look forward to an eternity of strife-free living, reserved for you in heaven.  ~Jesus Calling~

And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.  —Ephesians 2:6

The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace.  —Romans 8:6

Do not love the world or anything in the world… The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.  —1 John 2:15–17

TONIGHT I Pray that you will have keen discernment, wisdom from above and a heavenly perspective to see with the eyes of God! I pray a great harvest of souls come to know the Lord through your life, purpose and ministry! Your family will be saved and see the goodness of the Lord! May the Spirit of God help you increase in the knowledge of God and set you on fire for the purpose of God! Release all un-forgiveness, bitterness, hurt, anger and rejection in the name of Jesus! May the Lord perfect your faith and walk in His love and grace...  Amen and Amen...  I Love you all!!!  God bless you!!! ♥♥♥

Word of the Day... October 27, 2013

This is such a great teaching from Pastor Skip Heitzig.  I really enjoy his style and how he teaches the Word of God.  I hope that you enjoy this as much as I did.

In 1 Samuel 8, the nation of Israel was at a strategic turning point in their history. The people were uneasy and demanded to be given a king. God told His prophet to comply with their wishes. "Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them" (v. 7). But He also said to warn them of the consequences (see vv. 10-18), and they would live to regret their choice.

Here are some lessons we can learn from their experience.

One: Don't reject God's Lordship. The issue isn't "Have you accepted the Lord?" It's "Have you accepted God's Lordship over your life?" Corrie Ten Boom put it beautifully: "Don't bother to give God instructions, just report for duty." If He is the Lord, then He is in charge!

Two: Complaining often indicates spiritual rebellion. God may have allowed you to be where you are by His providence or His direct will. Or perhaps you are suffering the consequences of your own choices. Either way, complaining and being discontented about your lot in life isn't the way to go. Instead, trust God. Let Him lead you to His best.

Three: The world has a powerful pull and wants you to be just like it. Don't do it! "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind" (Romans 12:2). "Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good" (3 John 11). One of our biggest fears is being rejected by "the crowd" or our peers. Instead, be approved by God.

Four: A wise person will consider the end of the path before he decides to walk on it. It's not wisdom to say, "I want what I want, no matter what!" Jesus said, "Wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction...narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life" (Matthew 7:13-14). The wise person will look at those two paths and make a prudent choice.

Five: Stubbornness has lasting consequences. If you dig your heels in and refuse to comply with the will of God, you're going to settle for second-best...or maybe third or fourth! It's not worth it to be stubborn.

Is there an area where you know you are being stubborn? God wants to be Lord over it, but you've said, "No way!" Your stubbornness may be keeping you from enjoying what God has for you—abundant life, walking with Him in compliance with His will. Looking back and saying, "I wish I would have..." is no way to live!

Make His ways and His will preeminent in your life. Allow His Spirit to speak to you in the area where you are discontent and complaining. Acknowledge Him and allow His control. He knows best because He sees the end of the path, and you don't. Trust Him, and walk by faith, not by sight. As difficult as it is, it's the most wonderful way to live!

This is powerful!!!  The Lord gives us everything we need through His Word we only need to obey. I feel so blessed when I find great teachings like this.  It is like finding jewels and sharing them with people I care for.  God bless you!!!

Marching Orders, Part Two
by Charles R. Swindoll

1 Peter 5:5-7

We face a very real, insidious enemy. And, as I mentioned yesterday, in order to step intelligently and wisely into the battle with Satan and his demons, we need clear marching orders. God has given them to us in the pages of Scripture.

The words of Peter come to mind. In the fifth chapter of his first letter we find words that sound like marching orders for Christian soldiers. But the initial command is surprising.

It is not, "Attack!" It is, "Humble yourselves" (1 Peter 5:6). We need to understand, this isn't human strategy based on human strength that requires human giftedness, which will lead to human accomplishments. This is altogether contrary to what any of us would imagine. The Lord's marching orders are, "Humble yourselves." It's a picture of falling on your face before God in submission and trust. Trace that word back as far as possible, and you will find people on their faces before God. The word picture includes God's almighty, outstretched hand reaching across this universe, including this tiny little planet and including His church, which He brought into existence by His power and for His purposes.

He says, "Humble yourselves under my hand," which means you and I don't get our way. It isn't about getting what we want. When you humble yourself under the Master's hand, you humble yourself to the Master. It's about our doing what He wishes. It's what He plans that matters. You hardly need to be told that everything in our society works against that message. No matter. The command stands: "Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time" (v. 6).

There are rewards in doing as He commands. God is no divine sadist, watching people squirm and struggle and bleed, hoping to club them into submission. Don't go there. Keep in mind that God, our loving, caring, faithful, holy, and just God, has shaped a plan that will lead to victory, hope, peace, and joy. All of it takes shape under His mighty hand, as we surrender our wills to His. It happens under His hand. Get that. And under His hand we give up what we want. We surrender our wishes and desires, as we accept His plan. In the process, He is glorified. And because of His grace, many rewards come our way. The blessings just keep coming like waves on the seashore. And they come at "the proper time," because His timing is always right.

You say, "That kind of full surrender to another's plan makes me nervous."
Well, that's why there's verse seven: "Casting all your anxiety on Him . . ."
"You mean I may not be able to get what I want?"

No, you won't get what you want. You won't have your way. If that makes you anxious, there's a simple solution: Cast all your anxiety on Him. Yes, all of it. When you do, you'll have a lot less struggle releasing your will to Him. You'll march into battle with far greater confidence and calm.

What I'm suggesting here is a totally different lifestyle. This will touch every part of your world. In the final analysis, it will lead to a 100 percent investment in Him.

Perhaps I'm hearing you say, "Well, I don't want to invest, say, my whole life."

Then let me cut to the chase: You don't really want Christ. That's right. You don't want Christ. You want a God who won't make such wholesale demands. That way, you can hear what you want to hear and do what you please. You want a God who makes you laugh, makes you feel good, and says yes to your every request. You want a comfortable desk job, not a tough challenge on the front lines.

You say, "Man, this is getting serious." You're right.

Peter tells us to be sober, be on the alert, watch out. Follow your marching orders. The first one is clear: Humble yourself. And if you do, when the time comes in the battle, He will lift you up to conquer the enemy.

We have received and accepted our marching orders: "Humble yourselves." Now we must find the courage to move on out.

Here is Part Two and it is just as good as part one was.  Enjoy this and be blessed by the Lord!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night....

TONIGHT I Pray that we are willing and obedient to do the things your Word, so that we will see Your promises come to pass! I pray that as we abide in Your Word that we will begin to bear the fruit of Your Spirit.  I pray that as we grow in prayer and through Your Word that You will reveal the knowledge and the realities of Your Word that You have shown us and that belong to Your children forever; that they may DO the Word! I pray your families are a blessing to you and that you draw closer to each other in these last days. I pray that the Lord will protect your loved ones from evil and every snare of the enemy to destroy their destiny that his evil power will be broken through the blood of Jesus! I speak unity and come against any division or confusion over your household! Your FAMILY IS BLESSED in Jesus’ name! Amen and Amen…. I Love You All!!!  God bless you!!!

Word of the Day.... October 25, 2013....

Seek to please Me above all else. Let that goal be your focal point as you go through this day. Such a mind-set will protect you from scattering your energy to the winds. The free will I bestowed on you comes with awesome responsibility. Each day presents you with choice after choice. Many of these decisions you ignore and thus make by default. Without a focal point to guide you, you can easily lose your way. That’s why it is so important to stay in communication with Me, living in thankful awareness of My Presence.

You inhabit a fallen, disjointed world, where things are constantly unraveling around the edges. Only a vibrant relationship with Me can keep you from coming unraveled too.
~Jesus Calling~

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”  —Matthew 6:33

“The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him.”  —John 8:29

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.  —Colossians 3:23–24

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night....

TONIGHT I PRAY THAT you realize that understanding will never bring you peace.  That is why the Lord Jesus asks us to trust in HIM and not our understanding.  Human beings have a voracious appetite for trying to figure things out, in order to gain a sense of mastery over our lives. I pray that as the world presents you with an endless series of problems and another set of problems pops up to challenge you, the relief you had anticipated it short-lived. Soon your mind is gearing up again: searching for understanding (mastery), instead of seeking the Lord. The peace of the Lord is not an elusive goal hidden at the center of some complicated maze. I pray that you realize you are always enveloped in HIS peace, which is inherent when you are in HIS Presence. As you look to the Lord Jesus you will gain awareness of HIS precious peace. That no matter what storms may come to try and upset that balance, stop and affirm your trust in HIM. Leave everything in HIS capable hands. Through trusting prayers, resting in His sovereign control, rejoice in HIM! As you trust in him, He will watch over you continually. You are his child and HE has engraved you on the palm of His hands. I pray you realize how great you are loved! In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen… I love you all!!!...  God bless you!!!!!

How to Spot a Wolf
"Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves."  —Matthew 7:15

This is such a timely and important teaching from Pastor Greg Laurie today.  There are so many wolves out there who try to make their churches look like they are the real thing, but they are only cheap counterfeits of Jesus Christ. I hope that you have learned as much as I did from this.

An inspector who worked for London's Scotland Yard had the job of detecting false currency from the true. Someone commented to him that he must spend a lot of time looking at counterfeit money.

"Oh, no," he answered. "I just spend all day working with real money. Then, when I come across a counterfeit bill, I know immediately."

The apostle Paul warned the elders of the Ephesian church, "I know that false teachers, like vicious wolves, will come in among you after I leave, not sparing the flock. Even some men from your own group will rise up and distort the truth in order to draw a following. Watch out!" (Acts 20:29–31).

That is why it is important to declare the whole counsel of God. There is false teaching, and there are false teachers who lead people astray. The tricky thing about false teaching is that it is not 100 percent false. Maybe it is 20 percent false. Maybe most of it is good and 20 percent is false. Yet that small part that is weird or odd could be spiritually destructive. So if I see a false teaching, I will try to identify it and then teach what the Bible says.

I believe that the best thing I can do is to help people become as conversant with the Bible as possible. The more time we spend in the Bible, the more likely we will recognize that something isn't accurate when it comes along.

Of course, we could spend the rest of our lives researching every aberrant teaching or cult out there. But I would suggest that we instead spend our time absorbing the Word of God. Then we will be like that inspector in Scotland Yard and recognize when something false surfaces because we know what is true.

Word of the Day... October 23, 2013

Marching Orders, Part One
by Charles R. Swindoll
Ephesians 6:10-12

I wasn't there when a few men gathered around him. General Dwight Eisenhower had the awful job on that day in early June 1944 of determining if that was the right day to make the most significant invasion in the history of military strategy.

The weather wasn't right.

The tide wasn't right.
The sea wasn't good.
The counsel wasn't unanimous.
In fact, some of his most trusted advisors urged, "No."
But he said, "Let's go."

As we all know from history, during the Allied invasion of the Normandy beaches on D-Day, those first few waves of soldiers were picked off by the enemy like sitting ducks. The wet sand on the beach was dyed crimson with the blood of great Americans as they landed and invaded the northern perimeter of France to take that area before moving on toward Berlin.

I have the distinct feeling that nobody sat around in a small group telling jokes just before that first, second, or third wave hit the beach. No one in an amphibious landing craft said, "Man, this will be fun! We're gonna have the time of our lives." No. Not that morning. There were real bullets in those rifles. There were real shells in those massive cannons. There were powerful landmines hidden along those shores. Bodies would be blown apart. Friends would die. It was serious stuff---as serious as a coronary---as they waded ashore, as some stumbled to shore over their own vomit, as others were blinded by explosives, scared half out of their wits. They knew this was for keeps. No more jokes, no more fun and games. The training was done. This was the real thing.

Isaac Watts's words may be old, but they have a twenty-first century ring of relevance. Ponder the questions he asks:

Are there no foes for me to face?

Must I not stem the flood?
Is this vile world a friend to grace,
To help me on to God?

Do you see the questions? Do I have foes? Can I escape? Is the world a friendly place? He answers firmly:

Sure I must fight if I would reign:

Increase my courage, Lord;
I'll bear the toil, endure the pain,
Supported by Thy word.

We face a very real, insidious enemy. To make things even more confusing, the source of all the evil is invisible, as are all of his troops. Some even question his existence. Rarely are "artillery sermons" (messages readying congregations for battle with the enemy) delivered in pulpits around our land anymore. How seldom are Satan and his demons even mentioned by name. In the liberal churches you will hear all of that explained away: "This isn't like that!"

What are we to believe---that he's a little creature with a red epidermis and horns, carrying a pitchfork and sitting like an imp on our shoulders? No! Our foe is brilliant. "Genius" is a better word. He's been studying you for years. He knows you thoroughly and plans the attack that will strike at your most vulnerable weakness in hopes of bringing you down. He exists for your failure, fall, and demise.

In order to step intelligently and wisely into the battle, we need clear marching orders. Thankfully, God gives them to us in His Word. Tomorrow, we'll take a look at God's commands to us, His servants, as we engage in this battle with Satan and his demons.

Be forewarned. The answer may surprise you. Even shock you.  What a powerful word from Charles R. Swindoll this is so good that I really wanted to share it with you. He is such a great teacher of the Word! I hope that you enjoy this as much as I did.  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night....

I call forth TONIGHT every part of your being into divine alignment with the will of God. Lord, everything that you are doing in this season let your Holy Spirit sensitize and include us! I bind up the spirit of fear and declare that you approach the throne of grace boldly by the blood of Jesus. I command the release of every blessing and benefit assigned to you and your family! Let the Spirit of the Living God teach your hands to war and your words of faith to create and frame your world! You are a victor not a victim! Arise (come into your being) for the glory of the Lord has risen on you! WALK IT OUT!! In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen I Love you all… God bless you!!! ♥♥♥

Word of the Day... October 22, 2013...

Run Well

You were running the race so well. Who has held you back from following the truth?
—Galatians 5:7

When runners compete in a race, depending on what kind of race it is, they must stay in their own lane. A runner cannot go into a competitor's lane and cut that runner off. If this happens, he or she will be disqualified.

The apostle Paul wrote to the believers in Galatia, "You were running the race so well. Who has held you back from following the truth?" (5:7). Or, paraphrased, "You were running superbly! Who cut in on you, deflecting you from the true course of obedience?" Sometimes in the race of life, people will cut in on us and impair our performance. That means we need to give a lot of thought as to whom we choose to run with.

Paul instructed Timothy to "run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts" (2 Timothy 2:22). As Christians, we should run together, not trip each other in the race. We are not competing against one another.

Our competition is with the world, the flesh, and the Devil—those are our competitors in life's race. Those are our enemies. So it is not about besting one another; it is about glorifying God and overcoming the Enemy.

Paul also warned against looking back while we are running our race. He said, "Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us" (Philippians 3:13–14). You can't run a good race if you are constantly looking over your shoulder.

So in the race of life, stay in your own lane and don't look back. I can tell you that many times when I take my eyes off of the Lord I cannot run my race the way that the Lord intended me to.  So I don't want to ever look back but always ahead always toward Jesus and allow Him to lead me in the race.  I hope that you enjoyed this devotional from Pastor Greg Laurie as much as I did.  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night...

TONIGHT I PRAY that you come to the Lord and find rest.  He is all around you and wants to bless and restore each one of you.  We need to breathe Him in with each breath we take.  The way ahead can be dark and steep.  Grab unto His hand with openness and trust.  Ask the Holy Spirit within you to order your day and control your thoughts, for the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace.  You can have as much of HIS peace as you want, through correct choices that you make with Him each day. Choose to get closer to Him through His Word and prayer, so that He will be an ever present help in times of trouble.  As you savor this gift, you find HIM.  When you abide in Him, you find joy and peace.  His peace will never leave you even until the end of time.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen…  I love you all!!!!  God bless you!!!!

Finish with Joy

"Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit."
—Psalm 51:12

In this world we all need the joy of the Lord!!!  It helps us to make it through hard times. I hope you enjoy Pastor Greg Laurie’s devotional as much as I did this morning.  What a great way to start my day!!!

Some Christians have lost their joy. They started off the Christian life with joy, but then something happened. They just lost interest in the things of God. They still do the things they should as a Christian, but they are just going through the motions. And they are not very happy about it.

Instead of saying like David did in Psalm 122:1, "I was glad when they said to me, 'Let us go into the house of the LORD,' " they would say, "I was mad when they said to me, 'Let us go into the house of the LORD.' " Church again? Okay. All right. Another Bible study? Okay. Fine.

Paul told the elders of the Ephesian church that he wanted to finish his race with joy (see Acts 20:24). When you start a race, you don't always think about the finish, but you should. The finish is the most important part—not the start. You can have a bad start and still finish well. I don't care how great of a start you had. I don't care if you were leading the pack for nine laps out of ten. If you collapse and fall, then it doesn't matter. You are just tired, and it all was for nothing. Finishing is everything. And Paul was talking about finishing his race well, about finishing it with joy.

You don't know how long your life will last. That is why you want to run this race well and run it with joy. The objective is to finish.

Have you lost your joy in the Christian life? Then pray, like David, "Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit" (Psalm 55:12). Don't just start your race well. Finish it well. Finish it with joy.  God bless you!!!

Word Of The Day.... October 19, 2013...

You will not find My Peace by engaging in excessive planning: attempting to control what will happen to you in the future. That is a commonly practiced form of unbelief. When your mind spins with multiple plans, Peace may sometimes seem to be within your grasp; yet it always eludes you. Just when you think you have prepared for all possibilities, something unexpected pops up and throws things into confusion.

I did not design the human mind to figure out the future. That is beyond your capability. I crafted your mind for continual communication with Me. Bring Me all your needs, your hopes and fears. Commit everything into My care. Turn from the path of planning to the path of Peace.  ~Jesus Calling~

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

—1 Peter 5:6–7

In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.

—Proverbs 16:9

Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.

—Psalm 37:5 nkjv

Word Of the Day... October 18, 2013...

I designed you to live in union with Me. This union does not negate who you are; it actually makes you more fully yourself. When you try to live independently of Me, you experience emptiness and dissatisfaction. You may gain the whole world and yet lose everything that really counts.

Find fulfillment through living close to Me, yielding to My purposes for you. Though I may lead you along paths that feel alien to you, trust that I know what I am doing. If you follow Me wholeheartedly, you will discover facets of yourself that were previously hidden. I know you intimately—far better than you know yourself. In union with Me, you are complete. In closeness to Me, you are transformed more and more into the one I designed you to be.
~Jesus Calling ~

“What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?”

—Mark 8:36

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

—Psalm 139:13–16

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

—2 Corinthians 3:17–18
