Prayer Brings Peace

The night before Peter was to be placed on trial, he was asleep, fastened with two chains between two soldiers.   —Acts 12:6

Despite being chained between two Roman soldiers and facing the possibility of execution the next day, Peter was asleep. (He probably was the only Christian who slept that night.) In fact, it seems that Peter was in such a deep slumber that it took a whack from an angel to wake him up: "Suddenly, there was a bright light in the cell, and an angel of the Lord stood before Peter. The angel struck him on the side to awaken him and said, 'Quick! Get up!' And the chains fell off his wrists" (verse 7).

What gave Peter such confidence and peace? He knew that people were praying for him. In the Psalms David said, "In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O LORD, will keep me safe" (4:8). And David's son Solomon wrote, "God gives rest to his loved ones" (127:2).

I know that people are praying for me when we hold our Harvest Crusades. I simply feel prayed for. It is comforting to know that others are praying for you.

Most of us know what it's like to wake up in the middle of the night with things on our minds. When this happens, I will pray. I will say, "Lord, it's 3:00 a.m. There's nothing I can do about these things. I'm going back to sleep, so you worry about this." Philippians 4:6–7 tells us, "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus" (verse 7).

Do you sleep in peace? It is a great thing to go to sleep with a clean conscience.  I love today’s Word from Pastor Greg.  I cannot go to sleep at night without asking the Lord to forgive me for anything I have done during the day to offend Him.  Then I can really sleep knowing that I am forgiven!!!  Have a great day today.  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night....

Tonight I Pray that each of us make Jesus the focal point in our lives for security, our hearts and our minds so that we can stay close to the Lord in these last days when there is so much in the world to infect us. I Pray that as we trust the Lord in this, He will bring us to the place in our lives where we can have a conscious dependence on Him for every part of our lives.  I pray that we truly realize just who our Lord is The Prince of Peace and no matter what this world throws out on us we can still rest in the Peace of our Lord!!!

I pray His blessings over each one of you as you rest in the light of His love and grow strong in His Presence knowing nothing can happen to us that He doesn’t allow.  I pray that as you read His Word that you grow strong in faith and stand on the Supernatural Promises that He gives us in His Word.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen…  I Love You All!!!  God bless you!!!!

Put Your Heart into It

"In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me."    —Jeremiah 29:12–13

When I read this a light went on in my head and I came to the realization that we have not because we ask not.  God loves us so very much and is willing and ready to help us, We only have to ask.

A lot of times we don't have what we need in life because we don't pray for it. James 4:3 says, "You don't have what you want because you don't ask God for it." God promises that His people will find Him when they search for Him with all of their hearts (see Jeremiah 29:13).

The Bible tells us that while Peter was in prison, the early church prayed for his release with passion and persistence: "the church prayed very earnestly for him" (Romans 12:5). The New King James Version puts it this way: "Constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church." The words "constant prayer" also could be translated "prayed with agony."

This was not a flippant yawn of a prayer on Peter's behalf: Lord, please save Simon Peter . . . or whatever. No, this was a storm-the-gates-of-heaven prayer. I wonder if the church had prayed as fervently for James. Maybe they thought he would get out of that situation. Then they got the news that he had been executed. Peter was arrested next, and they saw how desperate the situation was. They saw how much they needed God.

God could have answered their prayers straightaway. But instead He took His time because it was His perfect time. That means the disciples prayed through the night. They had no guarantee their prayers would be answered in the affirmative. They didn't know whether Peter would be delivered.

Have you seen the urgency of your situation? Have you prayed like this for your marriage? For your family? For your children? For your husband? For your wife? Have you prayed like this for your church? For your country? If we don't put any heart into our prayers, then God won't put a lot of heart into answering them.

I hope that you all begin to take the Word of God and our Lord Jesus seriously... have a Simply Heavenly Sunday....  ♥♥♥

Word of the Day... September 28, 2013...

Living in dependence on Me is a glorious adventure. Most people scurry around busily, trying to accomplish things through their own strength and ability. Some succeed enormously; others fail miserably. But both groups miss what life is meant to be: living and working in collaboration with Me.

When you depend on Me continually, your whole perspective changes. You see miracles happening all around, while others see only natural occurrences and “coincidences.” You begin each day with joyful expectation, watching to see what I will do. You accept weakness as a gift from Me, knowing that My Power plugs in most readily to consecrated weakness. You keep your plans tentative, knowing that My plans are far superior. You consciously live, move, and have your being in Me, desiring that I live in you. I in you, and you in Me. This is the intimate adventure I offer you. ~Jesus Calling~

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me… For when I am weak, then I am strong.

—2 Corinthians 12:9–10

"“For in him we live and move and have our being.”

—Acts 17:28"

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.  —Colossians 2:6–7

“On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.” —John 14:20

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night.....

TONIGHT I pray that you really begin to believe that Jesus loves you with an everlasting love.  Sometimes the human mind cannot comprehend the Lord Jesus’ constancy. You allow your emotions to flicker and falter in the face of varying circumstances, and you tend to project your fickle feelings unto Him. I pray you look beyond the flux of circumstances and discover HIM gazing lovingly back at you. This awareness of HIS presence strengthens you, as you receive and respond to His love. Never forget that He is the same yesterday today and forever! I pray that you allow HIS love flow into you continually and you realize that your need for HIM is as constant as the outflow of His love is for you. In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen… I love you all… God bless you!!!! ♥♥♥

Word of the Day... September 26, 2013

Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. Acts 17:11

When I read this from Pastor Skip Heitzig I knew that it was a devotional that I had to share.  I love it when a Pastor asks people to check everything to the Scriptures.  For it is when we are in the Word of God that we will be in God’s will and way for our lives.  I hope that you enjoy this as much as I did.

"These [that is, the believers at Berea] were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so" (Acts 17:11). That's a verse we often quote.

Bible teachers love to use this verse, and "searching the Scriptures" is a good model for us to follow. There needs to be a balance between receiving what we hear and studying for ourselves.

What many people don't realize is that these Bereans were unbelieving Jews who were searching through the Torah, the Old Testament. As Paul taught about how the Scripture proved that Jesus was the Messiah, they thought, "All right, I'm open; let's see if these things are so." They searched to see if indeed those prophecies were messianic. And being open-minded, they found these things were so, they were persuaded, and they came to Christ.

But again, it's good for anybody to use that as a model. Don't just agree with any Bible teacher--I don't care who he is, or how great or anointed or world-famous. It's good to receive, to be humble and open. You don't want to sit there with arms folded and say, "I don't believe a thing you're saying!" That's ridiculous. But there's a balance between receiving and then saying, "Let me search that out on my own, so I know for sure it's from God."

Let me encourage you: Please be that kind of Bible student. You won't grow spiritually on bite-size sermons or sermonettes once a week, or even a couple of times a week. Sermons are good, but I hope they stimulate you to search through the Bible. We have to learn how to feed ourselves, so to speak, to learn how to search the Scriptures on our own.

If you don't have a Bible reading plan, consider this: It takes about 70 hours to read from Genesis through Revelation, at moderate speed. That's about 12 minutes a day, or a little more if you read more slowly. That's something anybody can accomplish. You can read the gospel of Luke in three hours, or Psalms in four and a half hours. So take it in chunks, be committed to it every day, and when you're done, go through it again.

Each year, you spend an average of 2,000 hours working, 3,000 hours sleeping, 550 hours eating, etc. Now compare all of those activities--important as they are--with feeding your soul and discovering the truth of God!

As you read the Bible every single day and learn to search the Scriptures on your own, you will grow. And you'll realize the excitement of knowing Him! I hope that you all have a Simply Heavenly day!!!  God bless you!!!

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night.....

Tonight I pray that you see yourselves only through the eyes of the Lord and not those of other people. Realize that it is nearly impossible to discern what others actually think of you. Moreover, their views of you are variable: subject to each viewer’s spiritual, emotional, and physical condition. The major problem with letting others define you is that it borders on idolatry. I pray that you realize that when you desire to please others it dampens your desire to please the Lord your creator. Tonight take that step in faith and see yourself through the eyes of the One who created you. His gaze upon you is steady and sure, untainted by sin. It is through His eyes you can see yourself as one who is deeply, eternally loved. Rest in His loving gaze, and you will receive His deep peace. I pray you respond to His loving Presence by worshiping Him spirit and truth. In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen… I love you all… God bless you!!!!

Word of the Day,,, September 26, 2013....

Demonstrate your trust in Me by sitting quietly in My Presence. Put aside all that is waiting to be done, and refuse to worry about anything. This sacred time together strengthens you and prepares you to face whatever the day will bring. By waiting with Me before you begin the day’s activities, you proclaim the reality of My living Presence. This act of faith—waiting before working—is noted in the spirit world, where your demonstration of trust weakens principalities and powers of darkness.

The most effective way to resist evil is to draw near Me. When you need to take action, I will guide you clearly through My Spirit and My Word. The world is so complex and over stimulating that you can easily lose your sense of direction. Doing countless unnecessary activities will dissipate your energy. When you spend time with Me, I restore your sense of direction. As you look to Me for guidance, I enable you to do less but accomplish more. ~Jesus Calling~

Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear… Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?”

—Luke 12:22–25

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

—Ephesians 6:12

Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.

—Proverbs 16:3

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night...

I Pray TONIGHT for grace to cover you and to allow you let go of anything that wants to stand between you and the Lord! I break any pull to your past that removes you from the perfect will of God in your life! The spirit of impossibility must loosen its position in your life - every demonic network working against you is destroyed in the name of Jesus! I paralyze the spirit of fear and doubt and release the gift of faith to function fully in you! TAKE POSSESSION OF YOUR PROMISES! In Jesus name we pray, Amen and Amen… I love you all!!!   God bless you!!!♥♥♥

Faithful and True

Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.

—Revelation 19:11
This is an awesome devotional today from Greg Laurie.  I really had to share it.  I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do.

In the eyes of the nonbeliever, God is never fair in what He does. When men suffer the consequences of flaunting God's grace or breaking His commandments, they blame God and call Him unjust. The fact is that God is completely just. He is faithful and true. Writing about Jesus, the apostle John said, "Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war." (Revelation 19:11).

In contrast to this, the devil is unfaithful and a liar. Jesus described him as "a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it" (John 8:44).

One thing we learn about the Lord after we have walked with Him for a while is that He keeps His promises—all of His promises. For instance, He has promised to never leave us nor forsake us (see Hebrews 13:5). He has promised to bring His peace into our lives (see John 14:27). He has promised to come again: "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also" (John 14:3).

In fulfillment of His promise, Jesus will come back and will judge the earth. And it will be fully deserved. There is nothing arbitrary or unjust about His judgment. Some might ask how a God of love could bring judgment. But how could a God of love not bring judgment? God has said there are penalties for sin. Yet He offers so many opportunities for us to believe.

God created us in His own image so we can know Him personally and have a joy-filled life. He did not make us as robots to automatically love and obey Him, but gave us a will and a freedom of choice. Since the beginning of time, we have chosen to disobey God and go our own willful way. We still make this choice today. This results in separation from God and ends in misery. The Bible says that disobeying God results in being separated from Him.  Our attempts can never unite us with God. Through the ages, people have tried many ways to bridge this gap and reach God – without success.  I believe that each one of us has a little puzzle piece in each of our bodies that only the love of God can fill.  We try to fill it with all kinds of things like sex, boyfriends, children, drugs, alcohol, education, clubbing, partying and everything else that you can think of.  The thing is nothing fits right in there.  Only God can quench the longing of your soul.

3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” 4 “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second into their mother’s womb to be born!” 5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. John 3:3-6

If you want a new life in Christ Jesus, ask Him into your heart today.  Simply pray this:  Lord Jesus Christ, I believe that You took the pain and the sins of world on the cross to give me new life. I ask You to come into my heart and to give me Your peace and joy. I confess that I am a sinner that I have gone my own way and have done wrong. Please forgive me for my sins. I receive You now as my Lord and Savior. Please fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Help me to follow You and to serve You all the days of my life. Thank you so much for loving me, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.  If you prayed that prayer you are a new creature in Christ Jesus!  You are Born Again!  God bless you!!! :):)

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night.....

TONIGHT I pray that you take all of your weakness and give it to Jesus.  In return He will give you HIS peace.  Realize that He is with you and for you and that you face nothing alone!!!  I claim all of HIS great power into your lives!  He is the Creator of the universe yet He chooses to make His home in each of our hearts.  I pray the Holy Spirit will quiet your mind so that you can hear His still small voice within you….  He speaks continually to all of us His words of Joy, Peace, Comfort, Life and Love.  Tune your heart to receive all of the messages of abundant blessings.  I Pray you lay all of your requests before Him and be still and allow His Spirit to move mightily in your life!!!  In Jesus name I pray, Amen and Amen…  I love you all!!!  God bless you!!! ♥♥♥

Word of the Day... September 24, 2013...

Start with Praise

Therefore the Lord said: "Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but have removed their hearts far from Me, and their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men."  —Isaiah 29:13

Did you know that it is possible to say your prayers but not be praying? We can run through our ritualized requests and not actually pray. Jesus said to the scribes and Pharisees, "Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying: 'These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me' " (Matthew 15:7–8). Not all prayers are offered to God.

You can sing praise songs and send up prayers to God but have no thought of Him. Do you know why? Because you are thinking about you. Or, you are thinking about someone else and the way they look or thinking about how good you may look.

Jesus told the story of a Pharisee who went to the temple to pray and "prayed thus with himself" (Luke 18:11). That Pharisee's prayer didn't go any higher than the ceiling because for him, it was all about putting on a show. As a result, his prayer wasn't heard by God.

Yes, our prayers need to be offered to God. It is very important for us to remember that we are talking to God Almighty. Therefore, it's a good idea to slow down and contemplate the awesomeness of God. When I do this, my goal is to get my will in alignment with His. Prayer is not getting my will in heaven; it is getting God's will on earth. And when you know God and spend time in communion with Him, you will know what God wants.

It is okay to bring your needs before the Lord. But start with praise and adoration and get a sense of the awesomeness of God. The more you realize how great God is, the smaller your problems will become in His presence.

As I read this I was so touched by what Pastor Greg Laurie wrote here.  God wants all of us not just little parts of us that we rush through just so we can click it off of our list of things to do.  He loves us very much and like any great relationship we need to spend time with Him.  Talk to Him like you would talk to anyone as you go through out your day.  Never forget that He loved you so much that He sent His Son to die for you on the cross.  When we get to the place where we can share all of our life with Abba in love, praise and deep reverence for who He is.  I truly believe that He will bless us greatly!  God bless you!!!

Word of the Day... September 23, 2013...

When Jesus heard that, He said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”  John 11:4

This day is a very special day for me.  I make 4 years lung cancer free today!  I am so thankful that I have a Father in heaven that never left my side when I was given the death sentence of small cell cancer four years ago.

As I reflect on everything I have gone through I know I never would have made it without Jesus.  That day that I was told that there was a growth on the upper right lobe of my right lung was devastating and after I hung up the phone, I fell to my knees.  It was the first instinct that came to my mind.

My husband was there with me and I could see the fear in his eyes. Lung cancer is a voracious killer of both men and women.  Here are some stats:

·      ·        Lung cancer is the leading cancer killer in both men and women in the United States. In 1987, it surpassed breast cancer to become the leading cause of cancer deaths in women.
Lung cancer causes more deaths than the next three most common cancers combined (colon, breast and prostate). An estimated 160,340 Americans were expected to die from lung cancer in 2012, accounting for approximately 28 percent of all cancer deaths.

Survival Rates

·        The lung cancer five-year survival rate (16.3%) is lower than many other leading cancer sites, such as the colon (65.2%), breast (90.0%) and prostate (99.9%).

·        The five-year survival rate for lung cancer is 52.6 percent for cases detected when the disease is still localized (within the lungs). However, only 15 percent of lung cancer cases are diagnosed at an early stage. For distant tumors (spread to other organs) the five-year survival rate is only 3.5 percent.

·        Over half of people with lung cancer die within one year of being diagnosed.

As you can see things were not looking good for me.  So my husband and I talked to the surgeon and he informed us that I would have to have a lobectomy on the upper right lobe of my lung.  My surgeon explained me that if my ribs didn’t open easily he would have to make a large cut that could impair my latissimus dorsi muscles.  I was so scared.  I love swimming and he told me that he would try his best.  I have to say that swimming would take second place to living and I was grateful for anything that he could do for me. I was so very blessed to have an amazing surgeon and oncologist.

I have to say that I am blessed with the best family and friends in the whole world!  They were all there for me as I got ready to face my Goliath.  I had best friends praying and lifting me up to the Lord all over the country.  My husband Peter and I are so thankful for each and every one of you.  Especially my children Jean, Peter III and Kellie.  Words can never express the love that I feel for you all!!  For my sister Chrystal who flew in to help me through this very difficult time and last but certainly not least you Colleen, you went through this with me from the very beginning and I want you to know what a cherished forever friend/sister that you are to me.  I love you all very much!

My husband prayed with me while driving to the hospital.  I will never forget how I felt when he kissed that last time before I was wheeled away into the Operating Room. I was changed into the gown and booties and then while I was sitting on the gurney waiting for everything to commence.  I prayed to my Lord and said “Jesus, If I have done anything to offend you I am so very sorry.  Please forgive me for all of my sins.”

Then something happened to me that I have never expected.  I heard an audible voice and it said “The Breath of Heaven is holding you in His arms.”  I looked around the room to see who had said that to me and there was no one there.  The doctors were setting everything up for the surgery and I just kind of looked up and I just said okay Lord and I closed my eyes.

The next thing that I remembered was opening my eyes in the recovery room ten hours later.  My surgeon was smiling at me and he kept going on and on that someone up there liked me.  I just smiled and said yes His name is Jesus! He told me that he had taken my lymph nodes from the center of my chest and there was no trace of cancer.  He was really happy about that. He went on to tell me that my ribs just opened for him and when he removed the right lobe of my lung, he told me I was so lucky because my tumor hadn’t moved.  It was like it was encased in glass. He went on to tell me that I had small cell lung cancer and it should have moved. He also told me that he didn't have to make the large cut and my muscles were intact. My incision was only about two inches. The Lord had given me every single thing that I had asked Him for.

They sent me to radiology for an MRI to see if there was any cancer in my brain.  It came back negative!!!  Then I was taken to have a bone scan to see if there was any cancer in my bones.  It came back negative!!  My God is large and in charge and I was feeling so humbled, happy and blessed!!!

I wanted to go home so badly and I asked my doctor when I could go home.  I told him that I had family there to care for me and was anxious to leave.  He wanted me to be able to walk and have the drainage tubes removed before sending me home.  To make a long story short I went home four days after my surgery. The day I went home I was in my bed reading the Bible and the Lord gave me my life verse:
When Jesus heard that, He said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”  John 11:4
When I read those words I was so humbled by His love and His power.  I told Him that day I would never turn my back on Him again and that whatever He asked of meI would do.

I would be returning soon to the hospital to begin a full summer of Cisplatin chemo therapy.  It would be in the middle of this chemo therapy where the Lord Jesus filled me with so much joy that I couldn't contain it.  I actually wept for joy in the middle of chemo.  It was through what most people would consider a horrible place where my Jesus met me right there in the middle of it all.

As they began the IV’s I could feel the poison burning into my veins and the nausea beginning to rise.  It was then that He touched me.  It was unlike anything I had ever experienced.  I just felt so loved and it was so amazing it was so all encompassing I started to weep.  I couldn't hold it in, it was just overflowing.  I think it was the Lord’s way of showing me that He was there with me and He would never leave me.  I can’t tell you what that means to me.

The Lord brought me through lung cancer and I am His forever! He has helped me to appreciate each and every day that I have with Him on planet earth.  Now I just follow where ever He wants me to be.  My whole family has accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and we love to share the good news of Jesus Christ and His saving grace.

He started me writing a blog called Simply Heavenly Food and then through my daughter He has led me to Tumblr where I have the privilege to share the love of Jesus Christ with some of the most amazing young people ever.  Life is wonderful and I am happy and so blessed!  I hope that you all have a Simply Heavenly day!!! ♥♥♥

Prayer Changes Everything

But while Peter was in prison, the church prayed very earnestly for him.
—Acts 12:5

I want to tell you a story about a sleepless church that was involved in desperate and deep prayer. They were coming under intense persecution, and they were facing what appeared to be a hopeless situation.

It had been some time since the last attack, which resulted in the martyrdom of Stephen. But God used that for His glory. The problem was that the church tended to hang back a little in Jerusalem and stay in their little holy huddle of sorts. Jesus had told them to go into all the world and preach the gospel, but they weren't really doing that. But when persecution came, the church spread out. It ultimately resulted in good. They remembered their objective was not to isolate from the culture but to infiltrate the culture.

As Acts chapter 12 opens, Herod is leading a new wave of persecution, and he murders James, the brother of John. Being the consummate politician, Herod saw this pleased his constituents. So he arrested the undisputed leader of the church, Simon Peter. Pretty much everyone looked up to Peter. He was the spiritual leader. And it looked as though Peter would be executed next.

So what did the church do? They unleashed their secret weapon: "While Peter was in prison, the church prayed very earnestly for him" (Acts 12:5). All other doors may have been closed, but one door remained open: the door of prayer—the door into the presence of God. The church prayed, and everything changed.

Prayer is our secret weapon too, and we don't use it enough. We will try everything else, but how often do we seriously pray? Prayer is frequently the last resort, the only thing left to do after we have exhausted all other options. But the first thing we should do is pray.

After reading this devotional from Pastor Greg I was so blessed that I had to share this.  Prayer is such an important part of our walk with Jesus.  We should be sharing everything with Him daily.  I have recently started to write letters to Jesus every morning as a part of my time with Him.  It helps me to recapture the passion that I had for Jesus as a new Christian.  It is so amazing and I get so incredibly blessed by it.  The Lord wants to be active in every part of our lives and not just put on a shelf for Sunday.  Jesus will change your life if you allow Him to become the center of your life!!!  God bless you!!!

Word of the Day... September 21, 2013...

I received this in my mail today from Pastor Skip Heitzig and I felt led to share it.  He is such an awesome Bible teacher I thought that we could all benefit from this one.

In Romans 14 and 15 Paul identifies two groups of Christians. One group he calls strong and the other he calls weak. The weak are not weak morally or weak in character, and they are not weak in faith. Paul's words are "weak in the faith" (Romans 14:1), the embodiment of Christian truth.

The weak are the legalists, those who have a moral conviction that you have to really watch what you eat, what days you worship on, etc. They don't grasp that one can be right with God based solely upon their faith in Jesus Christ alone, not upon their own good works (see Romans 5:1, 8:1). They're not quite there yet.

So he tells the strong, "Receive one who is weak in the faith, but not to disputes over doubtful things" (Romans 14:1), and "bear with the scruples of the weak" (Romans 15:1). Whatever convictions the weak Christian has--be they right or wrong--the stronger believer sometimes needs to correct or admonish, and other times to just put up with it and let that be their conviction.

You might say that the weak are oversensitive about non-essentials. They raise non-essentials to the level of essentials, and that's wrong. But it's also wrong--and dangerous--to take essential Christianity and relegate it to a non-essential. There is a line of division. We are to argue vigorously over the essentials, and to defend the faith.

We need to recognize the non-essentials and let them slide. Kinds of music, smoking, alcohol, even modes of baptism and speaking in tongues...though these are issues, they are all secondary issues. They are worth talking about but not dividing over. They will not separate a person from God for eternity.

So the principle is for the strong to receive the weak but not to argue over non-essentials. They may not have the same level of spiritual maturity that you have, and they may not agree with you on all the fine points of theology, but you need to make a statement to the world: "By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another" (John 13:35).

Romans 14:3 tells the strong not to despise the weak, and the weak not to judge the strong, "for God has received him." One group is not less spiritual--or more spiritual--than the other.

There are things that are just wrong; they're clear-cut, and you don't argue about them. But there are other things that are gray areas. How do we discern between the essentials and the non-essentials?

Test #1: Utility. Is it helpful? "All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful" (1 Corinthians 6:12a). Will it help or hinder my walk with Christ?

Test #2: Authority. Does it enslave me? "All things are lawful, but I will not be brought under the power of any" (1 Corinthians 6:12b). Will it become my master?

Test #3: Charity. Does it help others in the body of Christ? "All things are lawful for me, but not all things edify" (1 Corinthians 10:23). Will my actions build up the weak or cause them to stumble in an area they have a conviction about?

I would like to add does it bring glory to the Lord Jesus?  I think that should be at the center of every walk. If we are loving the Lord with all of our being and loving our neighbors as we love ourselves, then we are obeying all of the law of the Old Testament  (Mark 12:32-33).

One of the old sayings of the Reformation applies here: In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; but in all things, charity. That's a good balance to remember on our liberty as believers.

No Worries!

Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.  —Philippians 4:6

I find it interesting that the word "worry" has its origins in a word that means "to choke." That is exactly what worry does. It chokes us. It holds us back. Worry doesn't help at all. It actually makes things worse. Worry adds to our problems.

"Don't worry about anything," the Bible says, "but pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done" (Philippians 4:6).

Ephesians 6:18 tells us to "pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere." Notice the use of "all" and "every": All times . . . every occasion . . . for all believers everywhere. When we pile up these words, we get the idea that God is telling us to do this all the time about all things that concern us. Also, a literal translation of the word "pray" in this verse means "be sleepless to this end." In other words, keep praying.

The Lord said to Solomon, "If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land" (2 Chronicles 7:14).

Let's pray to that end, not only for our nation, but also for all things that concern us in life: our physical needs, our financial needs, our needs to be led, our needs for wisdom and protection—all the things we need in life. When we are in need, we need to pray.

What is bothering you right now? What is troubling you? What is concerning you? What is your need? Pray about those things. It is what the Scripture tells us to do.

I had to share this devotional from Pastor Greg today because all of us worry sometimes.  We need to remember that we have a God that is large and in charge!  Have a Simply Heavenly Day!!!  God bless you!!!

Grow strong in the Light of My Presence. As My Face shines upon you, you receive nutrients that enhance your growth in grace. I designed you to commune with Me face to Face, and this interaction strengthens your soul. Such communion provides a tiny glimpse of what awaits you in heaven, where all barriers between you and My Glory will be removed. This meditative time with Me blesses you doubly: You experience My Presence here and now, and you are refreshed by the hope of heaven, where you will know Me in ecstatic Joy. ~ Jesus Calling~

Many are asking, “Who can show us any good?” Let the light of your face shine upon us, O Lord. You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound. I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.  —Psalm 4:6–8

The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.  —Revelation 21:23

Your Love Guard Me Through The Night.....

I pray TONIGHT the Lord open your eyes and give you spiritual insight, understanding and revelation! I block every demonic spirit of deception that would veil you from seeing clearly in the name of Jesus! If you'll let God be your vindicator, He will bring justice and promote you right in front of those trying to make you look bad.  Let the Lord, expose all that is not of you that is in our lives! I declare that every empty, depleted , dry place be restored and refreshed by the Holy Spirit! Rivers of living water will satisfy you! Every deep well and fountain in you that is blocked is opened up and released by the power of God! YOU ARE RESTORED! In Jesus name we pray, Amen and Amen…  I  Love you all…  God bless you!!! ♥♥♥

Revive Us Again!

O Lord, I have heard Your speech and was afraid; O Lord, revive Your work in the midst of the years! In the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy.   —Habakkuk 3:2
When I read this devotion from Greg Laurie I had to say that I couldn't agree more.  America truly needs a revival!!!  Wouldn't it be something to see thousands of people raising their hands to the Lord in prayer!

From 1857 to 1859 a revival swept New York City that became part of what is called the Third Great Awakening. Jeremiah Lanphier, a forty-eight-year-old businessman, began a prayer meeting on Fulton Street. Not many people attended the prayer meeting at first. But then the stock market crashed. Soon hundreds of New Yorkers were gathering for prayer. Within months, six thousand people were gathering at noon for prayer throughout New York City. It is reported that fifty thousand New Yorkers came to faith and an estimated one million people came to the Lord during this time.

Sometimes we want to pray for a robust, strong economy in our nation. I am not suggesting we pray for a bad economy, but here is what we should pray: "Lord, send a revival to America, no matter what it takes." Sometimes when there is an economic downturn or a military threat or other events we are concerned about, we will turn to God.

Remember how so many Americans showed up in churches in the aftermath of 9/11? It almost seemed like an awakening of sorts. Remember the members of Congress standing outside on the steps of the U.S. Capitol and spontaneously singing "God Bless America"?

Our country needs a spiritual awakening. The prophet Habakkuk understood the need for a revival in his day when he prayed, "O Lord, I have heard Your speech and was afraid; O Lord, revive Your work in the midst of the years! In the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy" (Habakkuk 3:2).

That needs to be our prayer, too, as believers living in the twenty-first century: O Lord, revive Your work. I thank God for what He has done in the past, but here is my prayer: Do it again, Lord. We need another revival.  As you kneel tonight in prayer ask the Lord to blow like a mighty Wind over America and through the world again so that many people will come to find Jesus as their Lord and Savior.  I hope you all have a Simply Heavenly day!!!  God bless you!!!
