Word of the Day... July 6, 2013

You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
James 4:4

I was reading this and I thought how do we commit adultery with God? I think that it is by having a friendship with the world. In Matthew it tells us that we cannot serve two Masters for we will love one and hate the other.

So I had to ask myself what is friendship with the world? As I was reading in 1 Corinthians 3 I found that worldliness is the exact opposite of godliness. The world’s wisdom is not wisdom at all (1 Corinthians 3:18-19). Rather, it is foolishness. I also think it means that you miss the things of the world when you become a Christian.

The irony for me is that as I grew in my walk with Jesus the things of the world don’t seem to matter as much as they used to. I went to a wedding for a friend’s daughter who wasn't a Christian, and it was all about the things and the gowns, the presents, the food, and the drinking and I was bored.  No one talked about God once.

Some people will disagree and tell you that my viewpoint is not very politically correct.  Well I don’t really care if it is politically correct or not.  I would rather have it be correct in God’s eyes. As a part of the Bride of Christ I want to keep myself pure for my husband. To love this world means committing spiritual adultery.

You can be the world's friend and God's enemy, or you can be God's friend and the world's enemy. Which will it be? We all have that choice to make.  I hope that you make the right one.  God bless you!!!
