Word of the Day.... July 31, 2013

Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14

Paul tells us here to forget about the past and reach forward into our future.  It is awfully difficult to move forward when you are looking backward.  Many people hinder their progress because they are still hung up on things that have happened in their past. It is either their failures, or they have bitterness against someone who has hurt them. Sometimes it seems impossible to let those hurts go.

It is like they have paralyzed us and in a sense they have.  We need to give that pain, bitterness and anger to Jesus Christ so that we can heal.  Then we won’t be walking over that finish line we will be running!! I want to look forward to everything that the Lord has in store for me.  I can’t wait to see what God has planned for the future, and I believe our best days are ahead of us.

Paul tells us to press toward the goal for the prize. As I get older I can see that I am getting closer to the finish line and the prize that the Lord has in store for me!  Now I want to give this race a big final push and run this race to win!  I believe that Jesus is coming very soon and I don’t want to hold back anything as I lean into the tape!!!  No time to look back now!!!
