Word of the Day... June 22, 2013...

Delight yourself in the Lord;

And He will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him, and He will do it.
He will bring forth your righteousness as the light
And your judgment as the noonday. Psalm 37:4-6
When I talk to atheists or people who don’t know the Lord, many times they look at religion as a burden they must fulfill or there will be dire consequences for them. I agree with them and tell them that it isn't religion that brings us joy or saves our soul. It is the love and saving grace of Jesus Christ. It is having a relationship with Him. It really is just that simple.

When we accept Jesus into our heart we get His love and peace.  It is a peace that surpasses understanding.  This is a peace that the world can never take from us.  We are not called to worry or to strife.  When we are living in the Spirit and walk in His path, it is one of peace and with joy.  When we are living in Christ we discover such joy, overflowing delight, such blessing that serving Jesus is not a chore it is something that you want to do.  That you will do even if the whole world rejects Him.

We do not fear God because of any compulsion; I never look at being a Christian as being under bondage or being shackled. No one is forcing me to follow Jesus. Christians are not dragged to holiness. I am not driven to serve the Lord.  I serve Jesus Christ because it is my greatest pleasure.  It is my delight.  It is my greatest happiness in life.

Does this mean that being a Christian means we will not suffer the consequences of our sin or living in a fallen world?  Of course not.  What it does mean is that we never have to go through it alone.  I never thought I could say that going through lung cancer would be a joy.  But it was.  When I was going through chemo The Holy Spirit was with me through it all.

 I will never forget a particular day the Lord decided to knock my socks off.  It was a hard morning in chemo and I could feel the poison burning in my veins. I was feeling so physically sick that I was reeling. I was talking to Jesus and asked Him to help me to just get through this terrible day.  Well the Holy Spirit never disappoints us let me tell you.  He filled me with such joy that I could not contain it!!  I began to weep with His joy.  It was then that I realized how large and in charge God is. I knew right then that I would gladly serve Jesus Christ all of the days of my life.

I love what Charles Spurgeon said so long ago:  Delight and true faith are interwoven as a root is to the flower, as indivisible, as truth and certainty; they are, in fact, two precious stones glittering side by side in a setting of gold.
‘Tis when we taste Thy love,

Our joys divinely grow,
Unspeakable like those above,
And heaven begins below.

I hope all of you have a Simply Heavenly Day!!!  God bless you!!!
