Word of the Day... May 7, 2013

The Lord appeared to him from afar, saying,
“I have loved you with an everlasting love;
Therefore I have drawn you with loving kindness. Jeremiah 31:3

A few weeks ago my grandchildren Alaka’i, Alohilani and Kaliko went camping with my son his wife and many of her family members for a weekend of fun on the beach in Waimanalo.  My husband Peter and I were going to savor a weekend of having the house to ourselves and the blissful quiet that only comes when the little darlings are gone!!!

When they brought them home on Sunday night, from a distance they looked simply dazzling to me.  I had missed them so much.  But as they came upstairs I noticed that they were sunburned, dirty and gritty from the sand and salt at the beach. My granddaughters braids were so tangled I had to cut the rubber bands out of their hair. I thought to myself, dazzling they aren’t.

I shampooed and deep conditioned hair, washed bodies clean and I couldn’t help but think about how lucky I am to be a woman of God.  The Lord is intimately acquainted with us and all of our ways.  Nothing about us is hidden from His sight.

All of us are laid bare before Him. Our darkest secrets that no other human knows, our deepest shame, our worst thoughts, our hidden motives, our vilest imagination….  Even our most feeble attempts to cover our ugliness with material things and those oh so happy smiles that never quite make it to our eyes.

Jesus sees it all.  He knows that we are nothing but dust. Dirty, cruddy humans that are full of sin.But the very best thing of all is that even though He knows exactly what we are…  He loves us still.  To me that is Simply Heavenly!!!  God bless you!!!
