But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself, so that I may finish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the gospel of the grace of God. Acts 20:24
Just imagine that you are in a track meet
and you are running the mile. You are so
far out in front of everyone else that you know that without a doubt that you
are going to get first place.
As you continue to pass everyone, you begin
to think why should I even bother finishing this race, I am going to win
anyway. I think I will just go home now.
Would you win the race if you did that? No you wouldn’t win. you wouldn’t even place and
you wouldn’t win a trophy. You would be
disqualified because you didn’t finish the race.
It is like that in our walk with Jesus. There are so many times that we just want to
go home. To give up. We simply can’t do that. We need to keep our eyes on the prize and
finish the race. Share the love and saving
grace of Jesus Christ with everyone right up until the time that the Lord calls
us home and we cross His finish line!
That is why the apostle Paul, when he was
leaving the elders of Ephesus, said in his departure speech, "But none of
these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may
finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus,
to testify to the gospel of the grace of God" (Acts 20:24).
As Christians that is what we should be
aiming for. Not to just finish the race,
but to win it!!! This is not the time
that we should be easing up. We are at
the time in the race where we should be picking up our pace, to really pour it
on and run our race with Jesus all the way across that finish line for the
win!!!
I know it is Monday and I hope all of you
are Blessed and have a Simply Heavenly day!!!
