Word of the Day... May 12, 2013 Happy Mother's Day!!!

The Magnificat: Mary’s Song of Praise

 Mary responded,
“Oh, how my soul praises the Lord.
How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior!
For he took notice of his lowly servant girl,
and from now on all generations will call me blessed.
For the Mighty One is holy,
and he has done great things for me.
He shows mercy from generation to generation
      to all who fear him.
His mighty arm has done tremendous things!
He has scattered the proud and haughty ones.
He has brought down princes from their thrones
      and exalted the humble.
He has filled the hungry with good things
and sent the rich away with empty hands.
He has helped his servant Israel
      and remembered to be merciful.
For he made this promise to our ancestors,
to Abraham and his children forever.”

I hope that all of you are having a very Happy Mother's Day!  As I read this scripture I can feel how excited Mary was to be pregnant with the Savior of the World.  The love of a mother is something that I don't believe can be replicated in the world.  It is a special love that any mother would be willing to die for.

Can you imagine how she felt raising this baby knowing who He is?  Can you imagine how she felt holding Him in her arms and feeding Him.  Watching Him breathe as He slept and caring for this active baby boy as He grew into manhood?  Was He getting enough to eat?  How she would probably kiss His cuts and scratches when he fell on those hard dirt streets.  Having a child who never sinned, can you even imagine what that must have been like?

I believe that the Lord gave Mary everything that she needed to get through the hardest day of all when she had to stand at the foot of that cross and watch her precious baby die for the sins of the world.  Mary was there at the cross because she knew that is where He needed her to be.  He needed to see her as He neared death.  I believe He wanted to make sure that all of her needs would be met and that is why He gave her to John the beloved.  He needed to finish everything that He came to earth to do.

I cannot fathom how she could see her baby stretched out on that cross suffering and dying for every person who would ever call upon the name of Jesus Christ for salvation.  She truly was “full of grace.”  That is what mother's do.  Mary was an amazing mother.

I am so happy that the Lord allowed me to be a mother.  I consider it to be one of the greatest gifts I have ever been given by God.  I was able to put the needs of my children before mine and it was never a sacrifice for me or my husband.  That’s what parents do.  A righteous mother is a gift from God.  When she has Jesus living within her heart He shines through unto her children and her grandchildren. My children made mistakes as they grew up and I made mistakes as a parent.  But I am so happy that they are both Christians and love Jesus with all of their heat and soul.

I hope that all of you Mother’s out there have a wonderful day! I hope that you are loved well by your children and are spoiled by them on this very special day. Have a Simply Heavenly Mother’s Day!!!
