Word of the Day... April 14, 2013

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God… Romans 3:23
I had so many questions from people about how a loving God could send good people to face judgment and go to hell. The scripture that came to my mind immediately was “There is no one that is righteousness, no not one.” (Romans 3:10).

Then that next Sunday my pastor gave us the answer in church that morning and it really made sense to me.  He talked about jumping over a large hole.  The jump would have to be 50 feet to escape from falling into the hole.  Some people jumped five feet, some jumped fifteen feet and really gave it their best shot, they all fell short and fell in the hole.  One guy was so good at it he jumped 45 feet!!!  What an amazing guy!!! But the sad fact is that no matter how amazing the guy jumped it wasn’t fifty feet and he still fell in the hole.

He pointed out that when we define what "good" is. It seems as though we have a sliding scale. Everyone seems to believe they are good. They are always the moral center of their universe. They immediately give themselves a free pass, but other people aren't as good as they are. The problem is that we have conflicting views regarding what is good.

You can be the nicest, kindest person in the whole world, but it is still not enough to get to heaven on your own merit.  You can stand before God one day and be judged on your own merit and end up in hell or you can accept Jesus as your Savior and find forgiveness and eternal life.  Heaven won’t be filled with the nicest, kindest people of all time, heaven will be filled with people who have been forgiven!!!

God created us in His own image so we can know Him personally and have a joy-filled life. He did not make us as robots to automatically love and obey Him, but gave us a will and a freedom of choice. Since the beginning of time, we have chosen to disobey God and go our own willful way. We still make this choice today. This results in separation from God and ends in misery.

The Bible says that disobeying God results in being separated from Him.  Our attempts can never unite us with God. Through the ages, people have tried many ways to bridge this gap and reach God – without success.  I believe that each one of us has a little puzzle piece in each of our bodies that only the love of God can fill.  We try to fill it with all kinds of things like sex, boyfriends, children, drugs, alcohol, education, clubbing, partying and everything else that you can think of.  The thing is nothing fits right in there.  Only God can quench the longing of your soul.
3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” 4 “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second into their mother’s womb to be born!” 5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. John 3:3-6
If you want a new life in Christ Jesus, ask Him into your heart today.  Simply pray this:  Lord Jesus Christ, I believe that you took the pain of the cross to give me new life. I ask you to come into my heart and to give me your peace and joy. I confess that I am a sinner that I have gone my own way and have done wrong. Please forgive me for my sins. I receive you now as my Lord and Savior. Please fill me with your Holy Spirit. Help me to follow you and to serve you all my life. Thank you, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.  If you prayed that prayer you are a new creature in Christ Jesus!  You are Born Again! What a Simply Heavenly way to start your Sunday!!!  God bless you!!!

Amen Amen Amen!!

Everyone uses their own moral standard to decide what is "good". But we all fall short, even of our own expectations!

Well, at least I do. I let myself down pretty often. If I can't meet my own measly expectations all the time, what makes me think that I could ever reach God's standards on my own? It's HIS goodness that matters, not mine!

Amen my sister!!! We all fall short and that is why I am so happy that I have Jesus!!! It is like breathing a sigh of relief when I can just rest in Him and His wonderful grace! God bless your sweet heart!!!:):):)
