Word of the Day... March 24, 2013

Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain,
but a woman who fears the LORD,
she shall be praised.
Proverbs 31:30

In the world today it is all about the external beauty.  The packaging of the product.  I get so sad when I see beautiful women so worried about their looks that they spend thousands of dollars to get their face’s lifted, nose’s done and fat sucked off of their body.  When you look at them after they have the work done, they don’t look happy or fulfilled. It doesn't satisfy them. The reason for this is external beauty is short lived.  Internal beauty is eternal.  The former is attractive to the world and the latter is pleasing to the Lord.

The Bible describes this inner beauty as a “gentle and kind spirit” (1Peter 3:4).  This woman would also be described as having a “gentle tranquility.” Strength and dignity are her clothing and she smiles at the future.  She has true character that comes from within. From the hidden person of the heart, because you know who you are and you know who you adore and serve, The Lord Jesus Christ. This is not something that can be rushed, rather it takes a lifetime to prepare and develop the hidden person of the heart.  I hope you have a Simply Heavenly Sunday!!!

So, I've been 'lurking' for a little while now and decided to finally comment ;) This post is so true. Up until about a year ago I really struggled with constantly falling prey to the world's(Satan's imo) idea of what I needed to do in order to be considered 'beautiful' and 'worthy'. It was a crippling insecurity that affected every other aspect of my life - I didn't even feel good enough for God. I was spending way more time on my appearance then on useful, Godly things like developing a "gentle and kind spirit". I was 20 years old and absolutely freaking out about what I would do when I was 50 with wrinkles. I was relying on(more like clinging to desperately) makeup and manicures to make me feel happy, whole and acceptable instead of the almighty God. Last spring I decided to quit with the makeup, the starving myself skinny, the always bemoaning the fact that I don't have perfect thick hair like this friend or flawless skin like that friend, and be thankful for what I did have. An able body and good health. I started reading my bible again and I've been learning so much about what it really means to be worthy and beautiful to the Lord. Unsurprisingly, padded bras and perfect eyeliner are never mentioned ;) I feel closer to Jesus and so much better about myself nowadays. Striving to become beautiful to the Lord makes me feel like a being of substance and purpose and not simply an empty 'shell' to present to the rest of the world. Anyways, that was really long but thank you for your blog and keep up the good work!

Also, I don't think makeup and the like are inherently evil or anything it's just that I was using these things in an unhealthy way - kind of like a drug.

That is the wonderful part about Jesus. He loves us just cuz. We don't have to do anything to earn his love or salvation. It is His free gift of grace to each one of us. God created us in His own image so we can know Him personally and have a joy-filled life. He did not make us as robots to automatically love and obey Him, but gave us a will and a freedom of choice. Since the beginning of time, we have chosen to disobey God and go our own willful way. We still make this choice today. This results in separation from God and ends in misery. The Bible says that disobeying God results in being separated from Him. Our attempts can never unite us with God. Through the ages, people have tried many ways to bridge this gap and reach God – without success. I believe that each one of us has a little puzzle piece in each of our bodies that only the love of God can fill. We try to fill it with all kinds of things like sex, boyfriends, children, drugs, alcohol, education, clubbing, partying and everything else that you can think of. The thing is nothing fits right in there. Only God can quench the longing of your soul.

3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” 4 “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second into their mother’s womb to be born!” 5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. John 3:3-6

If you want a new life in Christ Jesus, ask Him into your heart today. Simply pray this: Lord Jesus Christ, I believe that you took the pain of the cross to give me new life. I ask you to come into my heart and to give me your peace and joy. I confess that I am a sinner that I have gone my own way and have done wrong. Please forgive me for my sins. I receive you now as my Lord and Savior. Please fill me with your Holy Spirit. Help me to follow you and to serve you all my life. Thank you, in Jesus name I pray, Amen. If you prayed that prayer you are a new creature in Christ Jesus! You are Born Again!

Next, you really need to read the Bible if you are serious about your walk with the Lord Jesus. The Bible is your spiritual food. You need to read and meditate on the Word of God daily to be fed as a Christian. When you don't spend time daily in the Word of God your spirit withers and dies. Just like all “living things” your spirit needs food to thrive and grow. God communicates to us through prayer and His word. I would like you to set aside time every single day just for Jesus. I want it to be at least 15 minutes and I want you to read the Bible every day during this time and pray. If you need a little more direction go to cbn.com (and no I don't work for them) they have a sight that I use every single day. I signed up for their read the Bible in a year. They will e-mail you 2 scriptures every single day. One from the Old Testament and one from the New Testament. There is also an app that you can have loaded on your phone for free. It is called Bible.is. I love listening to the Word when I am out and about. I promise that if you do this you will see a marked difference in your walk with Jesus Christ. Next find a really good Bible based church to attend for teaching and fellowship. If you need help finding one I will be happy to help you. I don't think make-up is evil either. I love wearing it. It makes me feel good and I will keep writing about Jesus not to judge just to share His love. God bless you!!!:):):)
