Word of the Day... March 1, 2013

How God works through our sufferingBlessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.  She 2 Corinthians 1:3 – 4

When I read this chapter I see that there are three reasons given for our suffering. I'm sure that there are many other reasons for suffering but here are three specific reasons why God allows us to suffer:

·       That we might have the empathy to enter into other sorrows and afflictions.
·       So that we can learn what it truly means to depend on Him.
·       And finally that we might learn to give thanks and praise every situation.

Many of us have suffered through really painful time, a loss of a loved one, a divorce, or having a very bad disease like cancer. I never thought I would ever say that I was thankful for lung cancer. But it was that lung cancer have brought me closer to my Lord. I had to depend on him for my very life and when I was in the depths of despair He was right there with me. Loving me through everything! I like the Scripture in Job 2:10 that says:  “Shall we indeed accept good from God and not accept adversity?”

Sometimes God's plan may frighten you. Or you’ll be intimidated by His demands. And sometimes the Father just makes us wait upon Him. You have all these ideas about how you can solve this problem and He tells you: “Be still and wait for My best”. That is when our faith needs to kick in and say “I will trust in you Lord”. I may not understand what You have for me but I trust You completely.

Well it looks like we have made it through another week! I hope you all have a Simply Heavenly Friday and enjoy your weekend!
