Word of the Day... February 7, 2013

Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no firm root; they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away. Luke8:13

Many times new believers love the fact that they are forgiven and are going to heaven, but when it comes time to really begin to live for Jesus in all areas of their lives they get a change of heart.  It gets a little too hard.  Or they are afraid that their friends will ridicule them.

I believe that people who become Christians and then fall away at the first sign of trouble, didn’t lose their salvation.  I think it is more likely that they were never truly saved to begin with.  In 1 John2:19, it says that these people left our churches, but they never really belonged to us; otherwise they would have stayed with us. When they left, it proved that they never truly belonged.
Maybe it was unbelief that set in and caused them to fall away. Every new believer, especially, will be hit by tests of their faith. And one of the first things the devil whispers in the ear of a brand-new Christian is, Do you really think God saved you? It isn't real. That whole Christianity thing isn't real.
Maybe they didn’t have a good foundation when they were saved.  Many people go to church or a concert and accept Jesus but the people who led them to Christ do not continue the work in building them up in the Lord.  Discipleship is very important to the new believer it can make a huge difference in their walk and longevity with the Lord.  Our confidence should always be in Jesus Christ alone and not a feeling or an emotion.  It should be based on what it says in the Word of God.  When we have a strong foundation in the Word of God, we will be able to weather any storm.
I have found in my walk that spending the first hour of my day with Jesus in the Word and prayer has helped me to really grow as a Christian.  I find that as my day goes on He is still at the center of my heart and thoughts.  I think about Him before I make any decisions. I hope that you all have a Simply Heavenly day!!!  God bless you!!!:):)
