Word of the Day... Februaruy 1, 2013

Trained by Saving Grace

11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.
Titus 2:11-14

I love this scripture so much.  I am so looking for His glorious appearing.  I had to laugh this morning when I was reading a devotional from a pastor that I so admire.  He wrote about a little boy who asked his mother, “Is God up there?”  “Yes of course He is,” she said.  And then the boy said, “Then wouldn’t it be great if He’d just poke His head out once in a while so we could see Him?”

When I read this I chuckled at first but then I thought that little guy is right on it!  That is what every single Christian in the world is longing to see:  The glorious appearing of the Lord Jesus Christ.  But we know that we have to walk by faith for now and not by sight.  I know that we will never be fully satisfied until we see Him face to face, but thankfully He has left us His Holy Spirit and the Word which will feed us and is a tool He uses to reveal Himself to us through.

The good part about longing to see Him is that longing is a part of loving.  I can remember a time when I was newly married and my husband would go away on business trips and I would long for his return home so that we could be together again. I think that the Lord rewards us when we diligently seek Him and long for Him.

We may not be able to see Him, but the import thing is that He can see us.  God sees all and knows all, and whether you feel Him or touch Him or hear Him or see Him, He is there with us.  And He asks you to trust Him. That is enough for me.  I will trust Him and worship Him and long for His coming!

I hope that all of you have a Simply Heavenly Friday and be blessed!!!
