Word of the Day... February 28, 2013

Therefore let those who suffer according
to the will of God entrust their souls
to a faithful Creator while doing good. 1 Peter 4:19

To entrust. What a wonderful word. It is a banking word. I looked it up in the dictionary and it means “to deposit” so when we have trials in our lives, we need to deposit ourselves into God safe keeping and when we do, that deposit yields eternal dividends!

Never ever forget that God knows where we are. Sometimes we may feel that God has forgotten us or is distancing Himself from us. But that is not true. God is right there where He's always been. It is usually us distancing ourselves from God. So when you're on afflicted with those forsaken feelings, when you're on the verge of just giving up and feeling oh so sorry for yourself, get back into the Word. For it is in the word where we read "I know where you are".

For He is the one who goes before you. He will be with you. He will not leave you or forsake you. What we really need to remember is that God never lies. If he tells us something we can take that to the bank! I hope you all have a Simply Heavenly Thursday!

Word of the Day... February 27, 2013

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9

Many of us don’t need a reminder that the Christian life isn’t sunshine and lollipops all the time.  The Lord never promised us that life would be easy for us.  He did promise that He would never leave us.  He will help us through the mangle of our life if we only allow Him to.  He is the Potter and we are the clay.  All we have to do is listen to His commands and obey them as He shapes us into the image of His Son.

He gives us this wonderful gift called love and patience. He actually wants us to bring all of our feelings, fears, and anxiety to Him.  He will show us how to build a great shield of faith using His Word that will extinguish those flaming arrows, and affirm our trust in Him no matter how we “feel”.  Each and each time we stand behind the shield of His Word, we will grow stronger and more mature as a Christian and our feelings will eventually fall into line with our faith.

Yes His thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways, but when we seek His face we will find everything that we have ever longed for and He will fill the yearning in our hearts!!  I hope you all have a Simply Heavenly Wednesday!!!

I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and to do good in one’s lifetime…
It is the gift of God. Ecclesiastes 3:12 – 13

I love how the Lord gives us the ability to rejoice and to really just enjoy life. The happiest people I know are the ones with learned how to hold everything loosely and have given the worrisome, stress-filled, fearful details of their lives into the hands of the Lord.

One of the things that lung cancer forced me to learn is that life is short and I want to savor every moment I have left. I had to relax in my healing and just be still. I had to let go of all my cares and worries so that I could receive the peace of Jesus. I came to the realization that Jesus wanted to be involved in every moment of my life. I know now that He will never leave my side that His way is perfect, even in the midst of my messy imperfection.

I know that He feels this way about each and every one of us. Sometimes, I will just say his name… Jesus… And the Holy Spirit will begin to guide you. Sometimes people tell me they feel like God has deserted them. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. He's right there. He hasn't gone anywhere. It is us who choose to walk away from Him. So call out to Jesus and give him your heart.  I promise you that what you will get in return will be Simply Heavenly!!!! God bless you!!!

Word of the Day.... February 25, 2013

Be still in the light of My Presence, while I communicate love to you there is no force in the universe as powerful as My love. You are constantly aware of limitations: your own and others’. But there is no limit to My love; it feels all of space, time, and eternity.

Now you see through a glass, darkly, but someday you will see Me face to Face. Then you will be able to experience fully how wide and long and high and deep is my love for you. If you were to experience that now, you would you overwhelmed to the point of feeling crushed. But you have an eternity ahead of you, absolutely guaranteed, during which you can enjoy My presence in unrestricted ecstasy. For now, the knowledge of My loving Presence is sufficient to carry you through each day. ~ Jesus Calling~

A Simply Heavenly Garden....

I love gardening, and after having lung cancer and going through the rigors of chemo therapy I decided that I wanted to change my lifestyle and instead of using so many foods that are preservative filled, I wanted to get back to basics.  Get back to the earth and plant herbs and vegetables that my family could enjoy year after year and save tons of money while I am doing it.

I have the world’s best husband, who is so great at gardening, he knows plants and he started my garden for me.  He cleared out a space for me in our yard and made eight separate wooden beds.  I have basil, lavender, cucumbers, tomatoes, all different kinds of lettuce, celery, wheat grass, rosemary, English thyme, my own bay leaf tree, lemon grass, green onions, green peppers, Hawaiian chilies, green beans, taro, carrots, kale, and beets.  I also have many pots of herbs on my deck that I can clip from while I am cooking up Simply Heavenly meals from my garden.

I started juicing just recently and I love being able to harvest the plants from my garden for juicing. Not only does it save me a ton of money, but I enjoy being out in the fresh air and sunshine.  If you didn’t know, I live in Hawaii where we have sun pretty much all year long so it is a great place to live if you want to garden.

I went to Home Depot and was delightfully surprised to see they had a large selection of organic seedlings. I picked up many of the plants that I started my garden with there.  They also have non-GMO seeds from the University of Hawaii that grow very well in Hawaiian soil.  My husband Peter planted many of my starter plants for me from seed.  Like beets, tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, radish and many more.  They germinate quickly here because of the warm weather and I had them transplanted into the garden a few weeks later.

If you live in an apartment they have great planters that do nicely on the balcony of your apartment.  I like the fact that I know what I am putting into my body.  That it is healthy and good for me.  I hope all of you get the bug for gardening so that you can live a healthier lifestyle.  I hope you have a Simply Heavenly day!!!

Word of the Day... February 24, 2013

The hope of the righteous will be gladness,
but the expectation of the wicked will perish.

Proverbs 10:28

I think that one of the most wonderful things we can receive from someone is encouragement.  Everyone needs someone to believe in them and to give them a pat on the back from time to time. It is when we receive encouragement that we can pick up the pieces. To help give us the determination we need so that we can go on despite the odds.

When we encourage someone we help them through affirmation.  It is important to remember there is a difference between appreciation and affirmation.  Appreciation is given for a job well done something we have earned. But we affirm who a person is.  Affirmation goes deeper because it is directed at the person and who they are on the inside. Every human being needs to be affirmed so that they know they are loved and needed and not for something they do or can earn.  But just cause….

Encouragement is like a healing balm on burning skin, a touch of warmth on the coldest day.  No matter how old we are we all need this every day.  So today, we all should make the choice to go out there and encourage someone who is feeling low.  Let someone know just how much you appreciate them.  How happy you are that they are in your life.  Tell them that you simply cannot imagine your life without them in it. Or how blessed you feel to have them as your friend. Then watch their eyes light up, in that special way that only giving love can do.  Love has a way of making every single thing better.

Can you imagine the effect we could have on the world if every single one of us loved on someone today?  Had a smile, a kind word or took the time to tell someone just how dear they are to you and how much they mean to you and how you couldn’t imagine your life without them in it?  It would be Simply Heavenly!!!

Have a really great Sunday!!!  God bless you!!!

Word of the Day... February 23, 2013

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,

for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go,
for to you I entrust my life.
Psalm 143:8

The Lord gave me this word this morning as a special gift!  He has this way of always letting us know that he is there for us and that He likes to meet every one of our needs.  Even the little ones.

If you are wondering if you can put your trust in Jesus...  Don't even hesitate! He will love you like no one has ever loved you before.  Not for just a little time, but forever!!!

I hope you all have a Simply Heavenly Saturday!!!

Word of the Day... February 22, 2013

18 Pride goes before destruction,
and haughtiness before a fall. Proverbs 16:18

What brought Adam and Eve down? We assume it was the attractiveness of the fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. But it wasn't the fruit; it was what the fruit promised.

Satan told them, "God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil" (Genesis 3:5). In other words, "Eve, listen. You will be a goddess. Adam, you will be a god. Come on, go for it." And they did. The devil had appealed to their pride.

That is one of the devil's subtle ways to strike: he attacks us through pride. Popularity can be more deadly than persecution. Christians start believing their own press and become inflated with pride.

First the devil comes to us and says, You are worthless. You are a piece of garbage. God would never use someone like you.

We reply, "Well, I don't know. The Bible says that if I will confess my sin, God is faithful and just to forgive me my sins and to cleanse me from all unrighteousness. And the Bible also says that God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise. So I think God will use me."

Then the devil changes his whole mode of attack. Instead of trying to tear us down, he whispers in our ear, You are the awesome man of God (or the wonderful woman of virtue)! Everything you say is wonderful. You are so great! And we soak it up.

I had to share my devotional with you today from Greg Laurie. I think what he is talking about here has happened to every single one of us.  We just have to remember to stay in the Word for that is where we get our strength.  God is not the author of confusion. It is so on point that I believe that all of you would enjoy reading it.  I hope you all have a Simply Heavenly weekend!!!  God bless you!!! :):)

Word of the Day.... February 21, 2013

But without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him.  (Hebrews 11:6)

Trusting in the Lord does not alter our circumstances.  When we put all of our trust in Him it changes us.  It doesn't mean that our lives are going perfect and neat and lovely.  It means that we have someone to go to.  Someone who makes us calm, secure and relaxed in the middle of the storm.

That is why we all need to stop and just give our battles to the Lord.  Learn to say this one is Yours Father.  I am giving it completely to You and I will wait for You to do the impossible.

I really believe that when the Lord sees this kind of faith, He smiles and says I have got you covered.  Cast all your cares on Me and watch "He stands ready to support all of those whose hearts are completely His" (2 Chronicles 16:9).  These are the kind of people God is looking for.  People who will stand on their faith in Him and whose lives are being turned right side up through perfect trust in Him.

I hope you have a Simply Heavenly day!! God bless you!!!

Simply Heavenly Chicken Piccata

Chicken Piccata

4 split (1 whole) boneless, skinless chicken breasts
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup all-purpose unbleached flour
1 extra-large egg
1/2 tablespoon water
3/4 cup Italian dry bread crumbs
1 cup grated Parmesan Cheese
Good olive oil
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature, divided
2/3 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (2 lemons), lemon halves reserved
1 cup dry white wine
1 cup of chicken stock
Arugula, baby romaine, cherry tomatoes, pine nuts and raw chopped asparagus and about ¼ cup of bleu cheese crumbled.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.

Place each chicken breast between 2 sheets of parchment paper or plastic wrap and pound out to 1/4-inch thick. Sprinkle both sides with salt and pepper.

Mix the flour, parmesan cheese,  1 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of pepper in a shallow plate. In a second plate, beat the egg and 1/2 tablespoon of water together. Place the bread crumbs and parmesan cheese on a third plate. Dip each chicken breast first in the flour, shake off the excess, and then dip in the egg and bread crumb mixtures.

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large saute pan over medium to medium-low heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook for 2 minutes on each side, until browned. Place them on the sheet pan and allow them to bake for 5 to 10 minutes while you make the sauce.

For the sauce, wipe out the saute pan with a dry paper towel. Over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoon of the butter and then add the lemon juice, wine, chicken broth, the reserved lemon halves, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Boil over high heat until reduced in half, about 2 minutes. Off the heat, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and swirl to combine. Discard the lemon halves and serve on a platter that I spread out baby romaine lettuce, arugula, cherry tomatoes, cut raw asparagus, and some toasted pine nuts (just about a half a cup). Lastly sprinkle about ¼ cup of crumbled bleu cheese over the greens.

Drizzle a vinaigrette (that I made with lemon juice, extra virgin olive oil, honey and Dijon mustard, 1 clove of garlic, salt and pepper to taste) over the greens.  Then take the chicken out of the oven and place it over the greens. Pour the pan sauce over the top of the cutlets and enjoy a Simply Heavenly meal!!!

You could serve this with mashed potatoes and a salad on the side, but we found that serving it over the lettuce and arugula was much more figure friendly.
Serve this with a chardonnay or a glass of mineral with a lemon slice

Word of the Day... February 20, 2013

I am coming quickly;
hold fast what you have, so that
no one will take your crown.
Revelation 3:11

If you live in the light of Christ's return each day of your life, it does wonders for your perspective. I try hard each day, but sometimes I fail so miserably, when I say an unkind word to someone or lose my temper.

When the realization that I will have to give an account for every word I say, it makes me realize that I am not going to continue to waste my time on little insignificant things that will only serve to drag me down. I am so grateful to have the Holy Spirit inside me as my Helper.  I have come to the realization that I wouldn’t make it without Him.

I recognize the urgency and the simplicity of the hour. Jesus is coming soon and we all need Him.  Remember that as you go out in the world today.  Share a little bit of kindness with someone and make it a Simply Heavenly day!!!  God bless you!!!:):)

Word of the Day... February 19, 2013

Yet those who wait for the Lord
Will gain new strength;
They will mount up with wings like eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
They will walk and not become weary. Isaiah 40:31

I was having a Bible study and pastor brought something up that was so cool I had to check it.  I got a Strong’s Complete dictionary for the Bible and I love it!!! It has English, Hebrew and Greek.  Since I have been using this I really am getting a better understanding of the Word and it gets me really excited!!!

Anyway I had to look up the word wait and Pastor Skip was right. What does it mean to wait on the Lord? Does it mean to just, sort of, sit around and wait? No.  One of my definitions said to wait on as a servant.  Hey I know how to do that.  I was a waitress when I was younger and I waited on many people.  Believe me that never meant to just sit on the side and wait for my customers to come to me and tell me what they wanted. I went to them and asked how I could help them. Would they like coffee, water or how would they like their food prepared.

So I started to think about this and I got really excited! If you want your strength to increase, get the focus off of your problem and start serving the Lord. I needed to be the best waiter I could to the Lord, to really get involved. You know what I found out?  When I wait on the Lord my strength didn’t diminish.  I got stronger. By seeking the Lord and what He wanted me to do I was staying plugged in to the Holy Spirit.  I was living in God’s will and way for my life.

The Holy Spirit is our Power Source and as Christians we need to stay plugged in!  I have to ask the Holy Spirit every morning to recharge my batteries.  I like the picture of the cars at the mall getting plugged in so they can do the job they were made for. I want to stay plugged in to the Holy Spirit so my batteries never die.  I hope you all have a Simply Heavenly Tuesday!!!

Interesting Article About Inflammation and Food

As I was browsing through Facebook this morning, I came across this really helpful post about eating healthy and how foods can cause inflammation.  Lately we've been trying to cut out the bad food and eat healthy, wholesome food so this really was an awesome read.  I asked Jean from What Jean Likes if I could repost it and she said yes, thank you, so here it is.

I hope you all find it as helpful and informative as I did!!

As so many of you know, I've been on a mission since the beginning of this year to change my life and get healthy.  I've lost 20 lbs so far and though the journey seems like a roller coaster of challenges and triumphs, it's going pretty well so far.  Lately as I've taken a break from juice fasting (I eat one meal a day) and have been eating small amounts of healthy, organic food, my weight has plateaued.  I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that I haven't exercised as much as Ishould for my body/situation, but I digress...  After sharing the post about Anne Hathaway and how she got lean for her role as Catwoman by avoiding foods that cause inflammation, I've been a bit obsessed with learning as much about which foods cause inflammation and which don't.

I love pages like Raw For Beauty on Facebook because my feed is constantly being filled with posts about health and which foods are good for you and which aren't.  I got the photo above from that page, you can "like" them {here}.

The web, as you know, is a wealth of knowledge.  There is so much information out there to read that sometimes you feel like you're drowning in it.  A lot of you may not be familiar with what inflammation is and why I'm eating foods that are non-inflammatory.  Here is a quick summary of what inflammation is. For more information, you can also read an article fromHarvard Medical School and how what you eats can fuel or cool inflammation.
For most people, inflammation is something that occurs in the joints, the back and the neck. Inflammation in the knees, knuckles and elbows will cause stiffness, pain and swelling and this also happens in the neck and the back. However, inflammation can also affect the whole body including muscles and major organs. Inflammation can also quicken the aging process. For total health and freedom from these aches and pains, it is practical to start taking an anti-inflammatory supplement along with exercise and eating healthy foods.

Other causes of inflammation include lack of sleep, too much stress and lack of exercise. There are several causes right from our environment such as water, air, food pollutants and toxic metals. The lack of Vitamin D is also a cause of inflammation. Vitamin D can be obtained from the sun, but be careful not to get too much and still use a sunscreen.
Here's a general list I've compiled from the last few days of research I've been doing. I'm not suggesting or saying any of you should become vegetarians or vegans though I am a vegetarian now.  I don't really eat any meat except lean, wild caught fish and the very occasional small piece of organic chicken breast.  What I've gathered from my research that eating primarily organic fruits and veggies is the best way to combat inflammation.  I'd say if you're eating more non-inflammatory foods than inflammatory foods, you'll be fine.

Here's the list.

Avoid these foods, which can trigger your body’s inflammatory response:
  • Refined grains, such as white bread and white rice
  • Red meat, or any meat that’s high in saturated fat
  • White Sugars
  • Sweets/candy
  • Sugar substitutes (poison for the body)
  • 3 P's: Packaged, Processed or Prepared foods.
  • Food/Flavor Enhancers:  colors, flavor enhancers, stabilizers, preservatives, etc. Some of the main ones include sulfites, benzoates, and colors named FD&C #”X.” Unfortunately, many foods consumed by children are loaded with these harmful, toxic ingredients.
  • Fried foods
  • Trans fats/foods cooked in hydrogenated oil, vegetable oil, Crisco,
  • Alcohol
  • Iodized Salt (use Celtic sea salt, Kosher salt instead). Not harmful on its own but sodium is naturally found alongside other valuable minerals like potassium, calcium, and magnesium. Choose unrefined salt which naturally contains many different minerals, not just sodium.
  • MSG: Monosodium Glutamate.  This is literally poison for your body.  Eating this is terrible for your body, organs, everything.  A lot of Asian restaurants cook with this and you'd be surprised how many regular food items have this hidden away in it (watch out with salad dressing!!)
  • Processed corn. You’d be shocked at just how much corn there is in processed foods. The food processing industry uses a number of corn derivatives such as high-fructose corn syrup, corn starch, corn oil because it is cheap and plentiful. In its refined form, corn spikes blood sugar, leading to an increased insulin and inflammatory response.
  • Nightshade vegetables, including onions, potatoes, eggplant, tomatoes and peppers.

Eat these foods, which can help your body combat inflammation:
  • Dark, leafy greensSpinach, kale, and romaine, etc. are all terrific inflammation fighters because they’re rich in antioxidants and other natural anti-inflammatory agents.
  • Broccoli, cabbage, and other cruciferous veggies. These foods are high in anti-oxidants, and they have a natural detoxifying effect. Therefore, you can eat them and cleanse your body of any harmful chemicals that are contributing to inflammation.
  • Colorful fruits and veggies. Eat the rainbow. Stock up on antioxidant powerhouses such as kale, carrots, blueberries and raspberries.
  • Cherries. “These red fruits significantly reduce inflammation because they contain potent antioxidants called anthocyanins,” notes Keller.
  • Flax Seed.  Flax contains omega-3 fats, which are anti-inflammatory. Try sprinkling a little freshly ground flax on your salad.
  • Turmeric and ginger. Both of these spices contain powerful anti-inflammatory compounds.
  • Chia seeds. Chia is high in inflammation fighting omega-3 fatty acids.
  • Avocados. These luscious fruits are high in carotenoids, which fight inflammation. They contain easily digestible monounsaturated fat, but don’t overdo it. 1/2 of a medium one is a day is a good maximum daily amount- and skip the oil on a salad if you are eating the avo with it.
  • Fish. Fatty fish such as salmon and sardines contain fatty acids that help your body fight inflammation.
  • Olive oil. Even a small amount of olive oil gives you a hefty dose of monounsaturated fat, which wards off inflammation.
  • Peanuts and peanut butterNot only do they contain healthy fats, but peanuts and peanut butter are also great sources of protein if you don’t eat meat.
  • Almonds
  • Dark chocolate. Yes, chocolate is on this list! In fact, research shows that regularly eating dark chocolate helps reduce inflammation.
There's a ton of information out there.  This is just a general list I've compiled in all the reading I've done this weekend.

I hope you have a happy and healthy week ahead and Happy President's Day!

Word of the Day.... February 18, 2013

But she who gives herself to wanton pleasure is dead even while she lives.
1Timothy 5:6

If we live for pleasure, we will never find it. The fact of the matter is that living for pleasure is one of the least pleasurable things that we can do. You only have to look at celebrities to see this is true.

I mean they seem to have it all. Everything the world finds value in.  Youth, money, celebrity, power, the nicest homes, cars, and anything and everything you could ever wish for.  Or do they? You just have to look at the magazines in the supermarket to see they are miserable and searching.  A new love interest every week, taking drugs, or drinking until they pass out, searching for the next best guru who might give them the satisfaction they are searching for.  You only have to look at the long list of celebrities who have committed suicide or have died as a result of their lifestyle. Living the “it’s all about me” lifestyle.  There is such an emptiness in living only for yourself.

The older I get the more I realize that everyone is searching for the same thing….Love.  Real lasting forever love!!! That will never leave you, never betray you, will always see value in you, and will love you with all of your flaws.  We all search for it and it is amazing what we are willing to give up for that worldly kind love. That kind of love always leaves you wanting...  No Guru, work-out, cosmetic, significant other, possessions or success will ever fully satisfy you.

We live in a world of instant gratification, where nothing is ever quite good enough.  That is because we live in a world without God.  Like the woman at the well in John 4.  Jesus told her that all who drink from this water will be thirsty. "But anyone who drinks the water that I give them will never thirst again.  In fact the water I give them will become a spring of water in them.  It will flow up into eternal life".

It wasn’t until I found Jesus that I realized He loves me just as I am. He is the lover of my soul and He has shown me what real love is all about.  He loves us with an agape love. Agape is love which is of and from God, whose very nature is love itself. The apostle John affirms this in 1 John 4:8: “God is love.” God does not merely love; He is love itself. Everything God does flows from His love.

It is because of His love that we are able to love others. Be smart like that woman at the well and ask for that water that will never leave you thirsty again! Taste and see what the Lord has...It is Simply Heavenly!!!  God bless you!!!

Word of the Day... February 17, 2013

I AM THE RISEN ONE who shines upon you always. You worship a living Deity, not some idolatrous, man-made image. Your relationship with Me is meant to be vibrant and challenging, as I invade more and more areas of your life. Do not fear change, for I am making you a new creation, with old things passing away in new things continually on the horizon. When you cling to old ways and sameness, you resist My work within you. I want you to embrace all that I am doing in your life, finding your security in Me alone.

It is easy to make an idol of routine, finding security within the boundaries you build around your life. Although each day contains twenty-four hours, every single one presents a unique set of circumstances. Don't try to force-fit today into yesterday’s mold. Instead, ask Me to open your eyes, so you can find all I have prepared for you in this precious day of life.  ~Jesus Calling~

Word of the Day... February 16, 2013

19 You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. James 2:19

Did you know that the devil and his demons believe in the existence of God?  They also believe that the Bible is the very Word of God.  Satan and his demons also are very aware that Jesus is coming back again.

James used this verse to illustrate to us that just believing is not enough.  After all don’t the demons believe and tremble?  To tremble means that they are terrified.  They tremble because they are well aware of the power of the Lord. However, they do not trust in Him or cling to Him.

James teaches us in this verse that we can know about God but not necessarily believe, in the Biblical sense, in God. True belief in Jesus Christ is the quality of faith that will bring you to the Lord and commit your life to Him and rest completely in Him.  To trust in Him completely, for it is when we do this that there will be a radical change in our life and how we live it.  Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.  And no man or woman or child can come to the Father except through Jesus!!!

I hope that you all have a Simply Heavenly Saturday!!!  God bless you!!!

I Got Lei'd On Valentines Day... It Was Simply Heavenly!!!

Last night I had the most wonderful evening with my husband Peter.  He sent me a vase filled with beautiful flowers and roses and I was so delighted I didn’t expect anything else.  As we were getting ready to leave the house, he surprised me with the largest and most beautiful white ginger lei I have ever seen in my entire life!!! I got lei'd by the man of my dreams on Valentines Day!!! It was Simply Heavenly!!!

There are hundreds of little flowers that make this one lei.  I couldn't believe how beautiful it was.  This kind of a lei is very special and can not be purchased at a regular store.  My husband went to the lei shop in Chinatown to get this one.  He told me that he had it especially made just for me.

I don't want to guess how much he spent on it.  But it filled the restaurant with its fragrance.  I had many people come up to me to comment on how beautiful my lei was and how heavenly it smelled.

We went to one of our favorite restaurants.  Uncle's Fish Market And Grill.  They are right on the water near downtown and they have the freshest seafood in Honolulu.  We enjoyed sauteed clams and piping hot garlic bread for an appetizer and some spicy ahi.  We thoroughly enjoyed both of them.

Here is the poke that we ordered.  It was spicy and was so full of flavor.  We both loved it!!!

Just looking at the picture makes my mouth water!!!  The fish was fresh from the water and believe me it really does make a difference.  Uncle's Fish Market is right next to the fish auction block where the fishermen bring their fresh catch in daily and it is auctioned off to the fish markets and restaurants.  Jeffrey the manager here is on a first name basis with the guys at the auction block so they always get the freshest seafood.

My husband Peter had the steamed lobster which was a large portion and he really enjoyed it.  One and a half pound of Live Lobster cooked twice to ensure moist, succulent meat.  First Oven baked with Sherry Cream sauce then topped off with butter bread crumbs and broiled to perfection. It was Simply Heavenly!!!

My choice for the evening was their fresh Maine lobster salad. Live Maine lobster cooked to perfection, shredded and served a top Uncle's big salad. It came with boiled egg, avocado, tomatoes, red onions and organic greens.  I had my dressing on the side so I could really enjoy the freshness of this salad.

I have to say that this Valentines Day was a night of sharing love, laughter and a passion for the man I have loved for over thirty five years!!!  It was what I would to call a Simply Heavenly Valentines Day!!!

Word of the Day... February 15, 2013

3 Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires. 4 They will say, “What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created.” 2 Peter 3:3-4

One of the signs of the times is people saying that there is no possible way that we are going to be the generation that will get to see the coming of the Lord Jesus.  I have found that it is usually people who are walking with one foot in the world and one foot with the Lord who say this.  They don’t want to believe that Jesus is coming because they are not ready for His coming.  I know this because I used to be one of them.

We read in 1 Thessalonians 5:2–3, "For you know quite well that the day of the Lord's return will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night. When people are saying, 'Everything is peaceful and secure,' then disaster will fall on them as suddenly as a pregnant woman's labor pains begin. And there will be no escape."

Many people do not like to study Bible prophecy because it can be really scary if you are not right with the Lord.  One-third of the Bible deals with the topic of prophecy or end-times events. It is important to God, and therefore, it should be important to all of us.  Anyone who reads and believes the Bible must also agree that Jesus is coming again.  This is very clearly taught in the Word of God and no Bible believing Christian would ever dispute this truth.

God created us in His own image so we can know Him personally and have a joy-filled life. He did not make us as robots to automatically love and obey Him, but gave us a will and a freedom of choice. Since the beginning of time, we have chosen to disobey God and go our own willful way. We still make this choice today. This results in separation from God and ends in misery. The Bible says that disobeying God results in being separated from Him.  Our attempts can never unite us with God. Through the ages, people have tried many ways to bridge this gap and reach God – without success.  I believe that each one of us has a little puzzle piece in each of our bodies that only the love of God can fill.  We try to fill it with all kinds of things like sex, boyfriends, children, drugs, alcohol, education, clubbing, partying and everything else that you can think of.  The thing is nothing fits right in there.  Only God can quench the longing of your soul.

3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” 4 “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second into their mother’s womb to be born!” 5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. John 3:3-6

If you want a new life in Christ Jesus, ask Him into your heart today.  Simply pray this:

Lord Jesus Christ, I believe that you took the pain of the cross to give me new life. I ask you to come into my heart and to give me your peace and joy. I confess that I am a sinner that I have gone my own way and have done wrong. Please forgive me for my sins. I receive you now as my Lord and Savior. Please fill me with your Holy Spirit. Help me to follow you and to serve you all my life. Thank you, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.  If you prayed that prayer you are a new creature in Christ Jesus!  You are Born Again!

Next, you really need to read the Bible if you are serious about your walk with the Lord Jesus.  The Bible is your spiritual food.  You need to read and meditate on the Word of God daily to be fed as a Christian.  When you don't spend time daily in the Word of God your spirit withers and dies.  Just like all “living things” your spirit needs food to thrive and grow.  God communicates to us through prayer and His word.  I would like you to set aside time every single day just for Jesus. I want it to be at least 15 minutes and I want you to read the Bible every day during this time and pray.  If you need a little more direction go to cbn.com (and no I don't work for them) they have a sight that I use every single day.  I signed up for their read the Bible in a year.  They will e-mail you 2 scriptures every single day.  One from the Old Testament and one from the New Testament.  There is also an app that you can have loaded on your phone for free.  It is called Bible.is.  I love listening to the Word when I am out and about.  I promise that if you do this you will see a marked difference in your walk with Jesus Christ.  Next find a really good Bible based church to attend for teaching and fellowship.  If you need help finding one I will be happy to help you. I hope that all of you have a Simply Heavenly Friday!!! God bless you!!!
