Word of the Day... January 12, 2013

A Call to Persevere
23 Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. 24 Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. 25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Hebrews 10:23-25

If you look at a baby they cry when they are hungry and then they stop as soon as you begin to feed them the milk.  As that baby grows you give it baby food, then more solid food as they grow bigger and stronger.  You wouldn’t give an infant a steak because they need to be nurtured.

As a new believer in Jesus Christ you need to be fed the Word of God so that you can grow as a Christian. As more mature Christians we need to help them to dig into the Word of God. That means sitting down with them, reading the Bible with them, and explaining it to them. Sometimes we have heard things so many times that we start to take them for granted. Oh, yeah . . . yeah . . . yeah . . . I have heard about that. I started to read the Gospel of John with my grandson the other night and I discovered new things in the Word that I had missed before.  It was really exciting for me as the Lord taught us both.

I loved seeing Alaka’i’s eyes light up when we went through the first chapter when we discovered that Jesus was the Word made flesh and he was like “really”?  I was able to tell him yes everything in the Bible is real and true.  I thought about it later when I was reading Hebrews and I thought “WOW” God was teaching me how to Disciple my grandson!  It is so cool that the Lord will even use a Grandma!!!

Sometimes as we get older we don’t believe that we can be a vibrant part of the Body of Christ, but isn’t that so like Jesus?  He picks the most common ordinary people to do extraordinary things.  All we have to do is be open to Him and obedient to His voice when He asks us to do something. When we are He will energize us and bless us beyond anything we can even imagine!!! Not only do we receive the blessing but whoever we are sharing with gets in on the blessing as well!  I hope that you all have a Simply Heavenly Saturday!!!  God bless you!!! :):)
