Word Of The Day... December 11, 2012

Faith Triumphs in Trouble

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.  Romans 5:1-5

I love how the Lord molds us into what He wants us to be, if we allow Him to.  Sometimes it is when we go through the most difficult times in our lives that He will build our character.  The Lord loves good character in His children.  He tells us to glory in our tribulations.  When I first read that scripture I really didn’t have a good understanding of what it meant to glory in the midst of something really bad.  I used to pray for patience and every time that I did I would have my patience tried and it irritated me, but I never really thought of that as tribulation. It was just an irritation.

In my life the scariest thing that I could ever imagine happening to me was to get cancer. In 2009 He gave me the opportunity to grow closer to Him when I was diagnosed with lung cancer.  I will never forget the fear that I felt when I heard those dreaded words from the doctor.  When we face our mortality we face it alone.  It is not something that loved ones can help us with.

I had Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and I knew that I didn’t have to face lung cancer  alone.  I had the surgery and was going chemo therapy.  I had Cysto Platinum which is the strongest chemo therapy they have and going through this was just a little slice of hell.It was in the midst of that hell The Holy Spirit met me right where I was in that hospital room and moved within me and filled me to overflowing with HIS joy.  I wept and smiled and felt the greatest sense of joy I had ever known.  This gift He gave to me changed my life forever.  He taught me how to glory in my tribulations, That no matter what this fallen world had to dish out to me I could get through as long as I had Jesus.  He taught me that He is my hope and He is my joy.  That when I have Him as my Lord….  I have everything I need.    I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed day!  God bless you!!!
