Walking Daily With My Savior...

This morning when I was having my quiet time with Jesus I read the most amazing scripture from 1 John chapter 1 and 2.  I was so blessed by it.  To me it is so amazing that I can have a real relationship with God. The One who existed long before the universe was created, He fills the universe yet He wants to have a personal relationship with me.  Wow!!!  I am so blessed when I tried to wrap my mind around that one.  The great thing is though when I get into the Word of God more and more I have come to the realization that He created us for that very reason.  He loves us and He wants to spend time with us.

The Lord gives us complete joy when we take the time to fellowship with Him.  What does it mean to fellowship with God?  It means that we spend time in prayer and then in the Word.  As we grow stronger from reading the Bible and spending time in prayer, God reciprocates by filling us to over flowing with His Spirit.  I have to go to the Lord daily and ask Him to fill me up.  I have come to the realization that I cannot do anything on my own, but it is through the infilling of His Spirit that I will have victory in Him one day at a time. We can achieve victory by taking our sin to Jesus everyday and laying them at His feet.  The closer we get to Him, the less time we want to spend in the world or caring for "things" of the world.

The Lord showed me that we cannot have true fellowship with Him without turning away from our sin.  When we have real fellowship with God we are changed from within.  There is evidence of the fruit of the Holy Spirit that lives inside of each Christian.  There are many people that profess to know God and have a relationship with Him, yet they are living their lives just as they did before they became a Christian. They are only fooling themselves.  You cannot walk in the darkness and be of the light. I struggled with that for many years and the light finally went on inside my head and I got it. It became my "Aha" moment.  The Lord really loves us that much and if we let Him, He will guide us and lead us through the minefield that we call life.  How do we do that? By getting into the Word and spending time in prayer everyday. The Bible says:
I have written to you who are God’s children
    because you know the Father.
I have written to you who are mature in the faith
because you know Christ, who existed from the beginning.
I have written to you who are young in the faith
    because you are strong.
God’s word lives in your hearts,
and you have won your battle with the evil one. 1John 2:14

Don't let Satan fool you we are in a battle for our very lives as Christians. The object of this battle is our hearts and minds. God wants our hearts and minds and so does Satan. Satan will use every trick at his disposal to pull us away from Jesus.  He will lie, and allow you to think the things of the world are good.  Then he gets us into the bondage of sin and he rejoices. God wants to bring us out of this bondage and into His  kingdom.  Our best defense in this spiritual battle is to get the Word into us.  As we hide His Word in our hearts, we will have victory over our sins(Psalm 119:11). What they taught us in Sunday School still applies to us today.  We need to put on the full armor of God every single day. When we put His Word in our heart it cleanses our way (Psalm 119:9).  The very best example of this that we have was when Jesus was tempted by Satan in the wilderness.  His only defense against Satan was the Scriptures.  That is the best example for us to follow as Christians.

Finally I just want to say that the joy of the Lord is my strength!!!  It should give us great hope to know that we have a "Helper" inside of every Christian.  Who is that precious Helper.  It is the Holy Spirit.  We are not alone or orphans.  We are children of the the most high God!!!  We are loved!!!
