‎"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another---and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrews 10:24-25

Word of the Day.... June 29, 2012

26-31If we give up and turn our backs on all we've learned, all we've been given, all the truth we now know, we repudiate Christ's sacrifice and are left on our own to face the Judgment—and a mighty fierce judgment it will be! If the penalty for breaking the law of Moses is physical death, what do you think will happen if you turn on God's Son, spit on the sacrifice that made you whole, and insult this most gracious Spirit? This is no light matter. God has warned us that he'll hold us to account and make us pay. He was quite explicit: "Vengeance is mine, and I won't overlook a thing" and "God will judge his people." Nobody's getting by with anything, believe me.  Hebrews 10:26-31

6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. 7 If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!” John 14:6-7

20 My child, pay attention to what I say.
    Listen carefully to my words.
21 Don’t lose sight of them.
Let them penetrate deep into your heart,
22 for they bring life to those who find them,
and healing to their whole body.
23 Guard your heart above all else,
for it determines the course of your life. Proverbs 4:20-23

Jesus Is Standing At The Door To Your Heart....

20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. Revelation 3:20

I love that scripture so much and am so grateful that Jesus is still knocking at the door of our heart!  The very best part about this picture which I am willing to bet many people miss is there is no door knob.  I think that the artist Holman Hunt did that on purpose to illustrate a point to everyone who saw his painting and noticed it.  Jesus is knocking.  He wants to come into our heart as our Lord and Savior.  But He is love and love does not demand its own way.  He doesn't force Himself on us.  That door has to be opened from the inside...

The greatest thing is when we make that decision to ask Jesus to come into our heart He changes our life forever!!!  He sets us free from the bondage of sin and everlasting death.  We don’t have to carry the guilt of our past.  Jesus makes us complete!!

God created us in His own image so we can know Him personally and have a joy-filled life. He did not make us as robots to automatically love and obey Him, but gave us a will and a freedom of choice. Since the beginning of time, we have chosen to disobey God and go our own willful way. We still make this choice today. This results in separation from God and ends in misery. The Bible says that disobeying God results in being separated from Him.  Our attempts can never unite us with God. Through the ages, people have tried many ways to bridge this gap and reach God – without success.  I believe that each one of us has a little puzzle piece in each of our bodies that only the love of God can fill.  We try to fill it with all kinds of things like sex, boyfriends, children, drugs, alcohol, education, clubbing, partying and everything else that you can think of.  The thing is nothing fits right in there.  Only God can quench the longing of your soul.
3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” 4 “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second into their mother’s womb to be born!” 5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. John 3:3-6

If you want a new life in Christ Jesus, ask Him into your heart today.  Simply pray this:  Lord Jesus Christ, I believe that you took the pain of the cross to give me new life. I ask you to come into my heart and to give me your peace and joy. I confess that I am a sinner that I have gone my own way and have done wrong. Please forgive me for my sins. I receive you now as my Lord and Savior. Please fill me with your Holy Spirit. Help me to follow you and to serve you all my life. Thank you, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.  If you prayed that prayer you are a new creature in Christ Jesus!  You are Born Again!

Next, as a new Christian it is so important that you be fed. The best way that you can get a strong bond with the Lord is to read the Bible.  Jesus is the Word made flesh, so it makes sense that if you want to get to know Him and have a closer walk with Him you need to get into the Bible.  Read it daily I have it e-mailed to me daily so that I can get into the habit of reading the Bible every day.  Go to:  http://bible.cbn.com/#!/nlt/John/1, They will e-mail you two scriptures one from the Old Testament and one from the New Testament.  Once you get in the habit of reading the Bible every single day, you will want to read more and more.  I also downloaded the app to my cell from Bible.is, I love listening to the Word when I am out and about or walking.  It is such a blessing.  When you are truly into the Word you will notice a huge difference in your walk with the Lord.  You will become stronger as a Christian and you will want less and less of the "world" in your life.

This simple act of faith is the beginning of a life long love story with the Lord Jesus Christ.  He is the lover of our soul, He understands us perfectly and will love us eternally.

The Magnificat: Mary’s Song of Praise
 46 Mary responded,
“Oh, how my soul praises the Lord.
47 How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior!
48 For he took notice of his lowly servant girl,
and from now on all generations will call me blessed.
49 For the Mighty One is holy,
and he has done great things for me.
50 He shows mercy from generation to generation
      to all who fear him.
51 His mighty arm has done tremendous things!
He has scattered the proud and haughty ones.
52 He has brought down princes from their thrones
      and exalted the humble.
53 He has filled the hungry with good things
and sent the rich away with empty hands.
54 He has helped his servant Israel
      and remembered to be merciful.
55 For he made this promise to our ancestors,
to Abraham and his children forever.”  Luke 1:46-55

Allow no one to stop you from praising the Lord. Do it with exuberance. DIGNITY is not a fruit of the Spirit, but JOY is! (Gal 5,22) The joy of the Lord is our strength - not our weakness. "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so." God bless you.

Psalm 91

1 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High
will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
he is my God, and I trust him.
3 For he will rescue you from every trap
and protect you from deadly disease.
4 He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings.
His faithful promises are your armor and protection.
5 Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night,
nor the arrow that flies in the day.
6 Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness,
nor the disaster that strikes at midday.
7 Though a thousand fall at your side,
though ten thousand are dying around you,
these evils will not touch you.
8 Just open your eyes,
and see how the wicked are punished.
9 If you make the Lord your refuge,
if you make the Most High your shelter,
10 no evil will conquer you;
no plague will come near your home.
11 For he will order his angels
to protect you wherever you go.
12 They will hold you up with their hands
so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.
13 You will trample upon lions and cobras;
you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet!
14 The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me.
I will protect those who trust in my name.
15 When they call on me, I will answer;
I will be with them in trouble.
I will rescue and honor them.
16 I will reward them with a long life
    and give them my salvation.”

Nothing can separate you from My love.  Let this divine assurance trickle through your mind and into your heart and soul.  Whenever you start to feel fearful or anxious, repeat this unconditional promise:  Nothing can separate me from your love, Jesus.  Jesus will meet us in the midst of our trials.
Most of mankind’s misery stems from feeling unloved.  In the midst of adverse circumstances, people tend to feel that love has been withdrawn and they have been forsaken.  This feeling of abandonment is often worse than the adversity itself.  Be assured that I never abandon any of My children, not even temporarily.  I will never leave you or forsake you!  My Presence watches over you continually.  I have engraved you on the palms of My hands.

What Makes A Great Father....

For all things you've lead me through and taught me

And for promising me that you will never leave me

Through and through you've shown me the ropes

Helping me in anything and everything I face

Everyday you're there for me by simply calling your name

Rarely do I get to thank you enough. So on this special day, I do exactly that.

What a great day Father’s Day is.  It is a day when we remember all that our Father has done for us to help shape and make us the person we are today.  What is a Father?  He is someone who has been there from the very beginning.  He teaches us how to take our first steps and catches us when we fall.  He is the guy that isn’t ashamed to go into a store and buy a doll for his special little girl even though he knows he may be the brunt of jokes in the office. It will all be worth it when he sees the smile on his little girl’s face that lights up his whole world. He is the one who eyes shine with pride at our accomplishments and the one who wipes away our tears when we fail.  He lets us know that it is okay to make a mistake, because that is how we learn and grow.  A Father is someone who is with us in good times and bad. He cares for us and works hard to meet all of our needs. He seems larger than life to us when we are young.  We believe that he can do anything as he swoops us up in his arms so high that we almost touch the ceiling.  A Father is someone who always makes you feel very special and happy that you belong to him.

My Father died when I was nineteen and so I relied on the Lord to be my Father.  Looking back on my life now, I can see that He has always been there for me through everything and has never let me down. He is everything my earthly father was but much more.  He will never leave me.  He tells me every single day that He loves me and He guides me gently as He installs His wisdom in me.  He picks me up when I stumble along this road of life and forgives me when I do things that aren’t pleasing to Him.  When cancer plagued my body, He healed me, with just a touch so that I would have no doubt that He loved me and would always be there for me.  I love You my Father.  For Your love, Your forgiveness, Your patience, Your gentleness, Your strength when I am weak, and your healing touch.  But most of all Father I thank You for sending Jesus to die on the cross for every one of us.  I feel so very blessed and thankful to You for being my Father.  For never forgetting the details that end up making everything wonderful and perfect.   That is why I love calling You Abba Father.

Happy Father's Day....Word of the Day.... June 17, 2012

You are the children of those prophets, and you are included in the covenant God promised to your ancestors. For God said to Abraham, `Through your descendants all the families on earth will be blessed.' – Acts 3:25

Word of the Day... June 16, 2012

Praised (honored, blessed) be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah)! By His boundless mercy we have been born again to an ever-living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

[Born anew] into an inheritance which is beyond the reach of change and decay [imperishable], unsullied and unfading, reserved in heaven for you,
Who are being guarded (garrisoned) by God’s power through [your] faith [till you fully inherit that final] salvation that is ready to be revealed [for you] in the last time. 1 Peter 1:3-5

Just look at what a mighty Father we have. How fortunate are we that we serve a mighty Lord who was raised from the dead and is alive inside of each believer!!!   He gives us a inheritance that will never tarnish or decay!!!  He is keeping a careful watch over us and our future.  I am so looking forward to the day that we have it all... Life healed and whole.  Thank you Jesus!!!

Carrie Underwood Takes Back the Wheel... Way of the master

On today's edition of On the Box, we talked about the following story by Wendy Geller of Yahoo Music:
The 29-year-old country superstar and former American Idol, who was raised Baptist, explained her position on the social debate in a recent interview with the Independent. "Above all, God wanted us to love others," she noted. "It's not up to me to judge anyone."

Underwood, who is married to hockey star and fellow Christian Mike Fisher, says she and her husband attend a gay-friendly nondenominational church. "As a married person myself, I don't know what it's like to be told I can't marry somebody I love," she said. "I can't imagine how that must feel."

"I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love."

Underwood has been open about her faith throughout her career, and marked her first No. 1 hit with the religiously themed "Jesus Take The Wheel." Fisher's official sports website includes a testimony section in which he explains his personal relationship with Christ.

Underwood's declaration did not go unnoticed by the entertainment world--in fact, pop superstar Miley Cyrus tweeted on Monday a call for Underwood to appear in the NOH8 Campaign, a protest against gay discrimination which has attracted numerous celebrities.

"Would be wonderful to get that kinda support from country music!" Cyrus enthused, to which openly gay country singer Chely Wright replied, "That would be AWESOME!"

Underwood herself remained silent on Twitter regarding the matter, and has not released any further statement as of this posting. Her latest album, Blown Away, is currently No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart.
Sadly, it looks like Carrie Underwood, who professes to be a Christian, has taken back the wheel.

A genuine follower of Jesus Christ would not do the following:

"You love evil more than good, and lying more than speaking what is right. Selah" (Psalm 52:3).

"Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter" (Isaiah 5:20)!

"Though they know God's righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them" (Romans 1:32).

A genuine follower of Jesus Christ would agree with the Word of God:

"Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh" (Genesis 2:24).

"He answered, 'Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh"? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.'” (Matthew 19:4-6)?

"But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ 'Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh" (Mark 1o:6-8).

"Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error" (Romans 1:24-27).

"Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God" (1 Corinthians 6:9-10).

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh” (Ephesians 5:21).

"Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it lawfully, understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, in accordance with the gospel of the glory of the blessed God with which I have been entrusted" (1 Timothy 1:8-11).

"But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death" (Revelation 21:8).

Carrie Underwood, assuming she was quoted accurately, gives every indication she is a Christian in name only; for she calls evil (homosexuality) good, and she does not believe the Bible.

Carrie Underwood has taken the wheel from the Jesus of the Bible and has given it to a false Jesus she has created in her imagination--a Jesus who approves of homosexuality and perverted form of love that is nothing more than sinful lust. Underwood, like so many other professing Christians is committing idolatry of the mind; and no idolater will inherit the kingdom of Heaven (see 1 Corinthians 6:9).

Christians must stop dubbing stars ambassadors of Christ.

Over the years, Christians have shown a tendency to jump on the bandwagon of any actor, singer, beauty queen, musician, politician, business mogul, or athlete who refers to themselves as a "Christian." I believe Christians do this, in part, because they desperately want to show the world that Christianity is relevant to the masses and acceptable among society's elite.

Yet in doing so Christians, more often than not, latch themselves not to rising Christian stars on the world's stage, but falling false convert stars who need to repent and believe the gospel. No one is a Christian simply because they mention the name of Jesus in their acceptance speeches, song titles, political platforms, or post-game interviews. And more often than not, what comes out of the mouths of professing celebrity Christians reveals the true condition of their hearts.

Carrie Underwood may be a case in point.

While Underwood's rhetoric might be in keeping with segments of mainstream American Evangelicalism, it is not in keeping with biblical Christianity. And the "love" of which she speaks regarding homosexual behavior is not a God-honoring, Christ-loving, Bible-believing love. It is a sinful love that puts man's fleshly desires above the will and Word of God. It is a sinful love that puts the love for the creature over and above the love for the Creator (Romans 1:22-25).

My suggestion to Carrie Underwood is that she takes her hands off the wheel, repent, and believe the gospel. It is not enough for her to sing that Jesus takes the wheel of her life if her beliefs indicate she is driving the car in the wrong direction.

The Light Behind That Rainbow...

"The LORD hath done great things for us, whereof we are glad." Psalm 126:3

Some Christians are sadly look on the dark side of everything, and tend to dwell more upon what they have gone through than upon what God has done for them. If you ask them about their daily walk with Jesus, they will tell you about all of the hardship, suffering and how the devil is constantly after them.  It always seems more dark then light.

I have to ask myself what about all of the good things our Father does for us on a daily basis? Where is the praise for His great love, mercy and guidance? But a Christian who is strong in their walk, who spends time in the Word and prayer counts it all joy.  Knowing the dark clouds will soon pass.  It is when we are under those dark clouds that the Lord is at work within each of us, molding us into the person He wants us to be. “I will not make it all about me, but I will honor my Lord God.  He will lift me out of the dark pit of despair and will put a new song on my lips.  I will sing out praises to my Lord for He has done such great things for me.  He has made me glad. It is true that we endure trials, but it is just as true that He will deliver us out of those trials. Jesus is like the light that shines through the rainbow during the storm.  He is letting us know it will soon be over and the Son will shine again.

It is true that we have our sin and corruptions, and we mourn those sins because it is that sin that  keeps us away from the Lord.  But it is also true that we have an all sufficient Savior, who overcomes these sins and corruptions, and delivers us from their dominion. When we are looking back at our hard times of trial, sin and humiliation, we always need to keep in the center of our hearts and minds that Jesus has brought us through these times safely and profitably. The deeper our troubles are, the louder our thanks to God should be. For He has taken each one us by the hand and led us through that very dark night into the beauty and the light of morning.  Our trials should never mar the melody of our praises to Him as we sing out our life’s song.  For “He hath done great things for us, whereof we are glad.”

Alaka'i's View On Jesus As Our Gentle Lamb

Today I was having a Bible study with my grandson Alaka'i. His name is Hawaiian and it means the one who leads the way. He is my first grandchild and he is ten years old. I simply adore him.  We were reading in 1John 4:18.  Here is the scripture that I shared with him.
Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love. – 1 John 4:18
We talked about how many of us are afraid of being punished.  Many times when we have watched how God is portrayed  in movies, He seems scary and angry at us.  It is when we read the Bible that we find out that we couldn't be more wrong.  God loves us so very much that He wants to share His love with each and every one of us.  When we began to talk about all of the loving things that the Lord has done for us, Alaka'i was simply amazed at how much Jesus really loves and cares him!  We have a Father who is filled with compassion, who hurts when His children hurt.  When we are under pressure and going through terrible times our Father is right there waiting for us to take His hand and allow Him to guide us through the mine fields of this life.  He is right there waiting to embrace us whether we succeed or fail.

I asked Alaka'i  why it was so important to know that God will love us whether we succeed or fail?  He told me that it is important because it shows us that God loves us no matter what.  That if we make a mistake He will forgive us.  He went on to say that he thinks that Jesus is the best teacher ever  because he never loses His patience with us.  When we have days where we feel like we want to cry because people are mean to us and we feel worthless, He is right there loving us and He is gentle and kind.

All I could say after that was wow!!  Talk about out of the mouth of babes.  He has got it! He knows that no matter what Jesus loves us!! I think it is super important as a Christian that in our heart of hearts we know that we are loved whether we succeed or fail. I think it is so awesome that we have a Father who doesn't come to us with a quarreling manner trying to force His will on us, but rather a loving Father that patiently waits for us to come and seek Him out.  he will never force his way into anyone's heart.  he comes into our heart like a gentle lamb, not a roaring lion.

Do Not Love the World
15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. 1John 2:15-17

Listening and Doing
19 Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.20 Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. 21 So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.
22 But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. 23 For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. 24 You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. 25 But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.
26 If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless.27 Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. James 1:19-27

The Father of lights will bless you.....

12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.
16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. 18 Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of His creatures.  James 1:12-18

37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 8:37-39
