Don't Let Your Heredity Stop You From Reaching Your Destiny

I had a nice fourth of July and was lucky to spend time with family at home.  I was preparing food for the get together and  I was so blessed by the Lord. I had the church channel on and I was catching the last half of a sermon.  I was so very blessed by it.  He was talking about how all families have some amount of dysfunction in them.  After all we are not perfect we are human.Wouldn't we all just love to come from a family like the Cleavers or the Cosbys.  Where fathers never fought with mothers and children were never neglected.  I can remember as a child coming from a broken home, having little money and having an abusive step father.  On the outside it may appear that I didn't have anything going for me.  That God didn't have a plan for my life.  I didn't get the chance to choose what family to be in or who my parents would be.  But my path did not start with my parents it started with God!  In Jeremiah 1:5-8 it says

5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
       before you were born I set you apart;
       I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."  6 "Ah, Sovereign LORD," I said, "I do not know how to speak; I am only a child."
 7 But the LORD said to me, "Do not say, 'I am only a child.' You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you," declares the LORD.
God knew who my parents were going to be.  He knew what kind of a home I was going to have as a young girl.  He knew it all and watched over me and loved me. Believe me when I tell you that there have been many times that I have said "I can't do that.  Not from where I come from.  I was wrong!  All of the trials that I have gone through in my life have brought me to the place where I am today.  I am a woman of God who has a purpose for being here.  I can't let where I came from dictate what my destiny will be.  I have to keep my eyes on the Lord and my ears open to hear his voice.  I believe that God hand picked all of us to born during this time in history.  Jesus is coming soon and there are so many souls that still need to hear of his love and his great gift of salvation to us. I was reading in the book of Numbers 22:12 and was so blessed by this scripture:

12 But God told Balaam, “Do not go with them. You are not to curse these people, for they have been blessed!”
 I believe that when God breathed life into us that he blessed us.  He wants us to listen for his voice and obey his commands. I believe that we stay close to God through praying and reading the bible.  Ask him what he would have you be.  Then just wait.  Be still and know that he is God and wait for his answer.  It will come.  Will I still have trials? Absolutely.  The difference is that now I have someone to help guide me through the mine fields. He will lift me up when I am down and he will not allow anyone to curse what God has blessed.

On this Independence Day share with me ways that God has set you free and is a blessing in your life.  By sharing your testimony with me maybe just one person will be touched by the Holy Spirit and find their way to Jesus!

this is so true! I grew up the richest of the rich with fine things and blessings all around. I left home and ignored my faith in God for many years and sunk to the poorest of the poor. Just because you came from a certain economic group growing up does not dictate who you are and what kind of person you can be. It was by the mercy of God and my renewed faith that I picked myself up by the bootstraps and started over and how blessed I feel today writing this!

God bless you.

Praise The Lord!!! God Bless you richly Jolene!

There is no God on the internet, or at least that's what I thought until I found your little independent blog. I love your sentiment, your layout and your photos.

Sharing my love for Jesus Christ brings life to my soul!!! I am a closet photographer and love to take pictures. Hawaii provides me with a beautiful canvas!

i am so sick of this christian bleeding heart shit. how stupid will you fanatics feel when you die and you go nowhere?

I grew up dirt poor somewhat opposite of Jolene above and even though I had no God growing up, I found Him as an adult and my life has been so very blessed because I live for Him.

Anonymous @1:57pm,
I am sad for you. How are you going to feel when you die and really find out that God is alive and that heaven is real. You should try it before you discount it so easily. Ask Jesus into your heart and see what happens. He will change your whole life! That I can promise you. What have you got to lose?

Ali,
God Bless your heart! God loves us no matter where we came from. His love is unconditional.

Single best Christian blog entry I've ever read. What you write is so true and has such valid purpose. Keep it up!! I grew up poor as dirt and I'm not rich or nothin but I make a decent living. Do what you LOVE and you will ALWAYS be successful for God will reward you for using the talent he gave you for the purpose He's intended for you.

mahalo ke akua. he works wonders.

@anonymous 1:57pm..

You are an ignorant human being and I pity you. I pray so hard for people like you every day who are so deceived by the lies of the world that you fail to see God's miracles every single day.

Give God a go, I promise, He won't disappoint!! I really look up to the Christian and religious bloggers. It's not easy putting your faith out there for the world to see and judge. Thanks for helping spread Gods word!

Jesus is coming soon people!!! to the writer above who doesn't believe in God, don't wait to find your faith or you'll be here on the rapture in misery wishing you gave God a chance. It's not crazy, it's not ridiculous... Christianity has been around for 2 thousand years. God is not a fluke, HE is real and HE wants you!!!

To the writer, I love this blog. It's so true that regardless of what walk of life you come from, you can make something of yourself with the help of God and faith in his plan for you!!

@1:57pm, God is intense and amazing and there are so many miracles in Him that one could get scared and overwhelmed by it, do not be afraid because God is just waiting for you to answer and accept Him into your heart as your personal savior!

And to that I say, AMEN!

I think we should all stop focusing so much on the hateful human that doesn't believe in God and focus more on the Lord and His miracles!! To the non believer, I'll pray for you!

I am just shouting Hallelujah!!! You all said it better than I could have!
